Womble is a VOB editor and I know that RowMan took out that very problem in his remix simply by using TMPGEnc DVD Author.

The Dr. Gonzo set is currently the only one that's anmorphic. Personally, the image on that set is a bit too soft for my liking, but it's certainly got a nice presentation and comes complete with the commentary from the laserdiscs. (However, the commentary is quite sparse, and segments of the movie during which the commentary plays are included as extras in the TR47 set, on the bonus disc.)

If you look around, there's information threads for nearly all of the sets around. Also, go into your personal preferences and set it to show older topics and then browse back, if there's anything you don't see.

Currently, the only versions around that have the original crawl are the EditDroid ANH, Garrett's "Classic Edition" and a MagFan version that was never finalized or distributed. The only one of those that's a complete trilogy set is EditDroid, and it also comes with a multi-angle option to either watch the original crawl or the "ANH" crawl.

Also, it's worth noting that these are all recreated crawls, as a good quality and full-length version of the original crawl has never been leaked.

The only set in the works that's in PAL, I believe, it's Moth3r's. A version of ANH from that set was released recently, but I haven't seen it.

The EditDroid set is pretty hot around here right now, but the TR47/Cowclops is an old favorite.

I think the idea of Greivous actually being Maul is really really cool. Not that I didn't love the movie (because I did), but I think that would have definitely helped. A good suggetsion for Magfan's inevitable edit.

The Shaak Ti scene (which I was also very much looking forward to) was filmed, there was a shot of it in the "Making of Revenge of the Sith" book. I want that book now.

I can also attest to the quality of this DVD player, the Cyberhome. Like Simon's, it's played every disc I've ever put in it in any format. It's play all the PAL DVDs I have just fine and the reigon hack I used so I could play the R2 'Shaun of the Dead' DVD was incredibly easy. Really a bang for your buck on this thing.

The same was done for Ep II. Slightly different versions were shown in film theaters and digital projection theaters. I seriously seriously doubt that both versions will come out on DVD.

Ridiculous editing. Check out the SEs for yourself. The only new thing he shot for ANH was Boba Fett to slap into the Jabba scene for no reason whatsoever.

That sounds like it might be an interesting thing to tackle with one of the high-q versions around. Perhaps re-edit it to those specifications to see what it's like in English?

Also, checking out the WMAR w/commercials DVD (thanks Rik!), it's not the broadcast with the classic "fighting the frizzies" news promo. I've got this on VHS an dI don't remember it looking all that terrible. I think it was the first bootleg of any sort that I bought, too. If anyone wants to make a DVD from that for the hell of it is welcome.

For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, check here and scroll down to the South Park heading. Read the last paragraph in the section. The promo itself is incredibly amusing.

Due to the "A New Hope" crawl and sound mix that was used in the creation of the ANH split DVD, it's the 1981 release and not actually the 1977 release. Picture-wise, though, aside from the crawl, I think it's identical.
