A Friend of Mabel's (my music)

Thanks in advance for the support! The EP definitely shows everything best. Whenever the hell I finish my album, that'll show it a bit better, but the EP does the job just fine. Since it's Version 2.0 as well, it also sounds better than everything else because it's properly mastered and whatnot.

The electronic drums and synths and stuff work very well for the stuff I'm doing, so everything worked out well in the end. I have a blast doing what I do.

Yes, I know the trials and tribulations of recording demos. Of course, it helps that I don't have a job and I'm a slacker

But yeah, I am a musician. I sing and play guitar, and Mabel is my robot, which is my backing section. There's pictures and stuff on both links. For the backing tracks themselves, I program the drums and synth and bass and whatnot. So yeah, it's basically all me, although I have had guests on tracks.

Since I'm a self-promoting whore and I just updated my website and MySpace, I figured I'd post in as many places as I can think of. 'Round here are generally friendly folk, so I thought this would be a nice place.

You can check out songs at the MySpace and find more info on the website. Kind words are always appreciated, but I'm not trying to fish for compliments. I don't really know what peoples' musical tastes around here are like (although I think I've read Journey on here once or twice), but I think it's pretty accessible no matter what you're into.

Bitrate?
Time
I don't know what program you plan to author your DVD with, but if it's DVD-lab, it has a tool like that built in. When you import a video clip into the files in your project, you can analyze the bitrate. I'm sure there's a program that can probably do it easier, though.

converting MPEG2 to AVI

It says 29.97, which is what it's supposed to be.

Actually now that I think about it, I may have messed something up when I exported the clip. I'll report back here after I try to reverse that.

EDIT: Nope, that wasn't it. I had Womble set to de-interlace and IVTC, which I thought might have caused the problem, but after I unchecked those options, VDubMod still loaded it as 27secs and not 32.

So I found out that VDubMod is loading the clip at 27seconds, it's not the conversion. I have absolutely no idea what's going on. That's why I never tried to learn all this stuff, it always seems to go wrong when I do stuff.

I'll probably wind up doing something way too complicated like burning the two clips I need to a DVD-RW and then re-ripping them and encoding with AutoGK.

Thanks for the tips, zion, I'll be trying that out momentarily.

I intend on going in and making sure the clips work before the presentation actually goes on. I also forgot to mention that since it's a Visual Communications class, they're Macphiles (or whatever the proper term would be there), so I'll be using a G5.

EDIT: The audio keeps going out of sync because it looks like VDubMod is speeding up the video (beginning time of 32secs, converted clip 27secs).

converting MPEG2 to AVI

Okay, here's the rundown. I have an MPEG2 video file with MPEG2 audio (not AC3). The file is a 30sec edit of clips from two movies that I did for a school project. I need to insert this video into a PowerPoint presentation. I don't want to run the risk that the computer we'll be presenting with on Wednesday is going to take a shit and not play back the video, so I want to convert it to DivX video. This sounds like something really simple to do, but it's giving me a helluva time. Can anyone help me out on this? I tried GordionKnot and it won't let me open the file to begin with.

Hmmm...more conjecture. For the record, I'm finally back from vacation, and getting ready to reinstall Windows. Then this project will continue. The good Rev wants it, and I don't intend to disappoint him.

Thanks for the update, man! Looking forward to the final product.

Got a copy of the set today (thanks, bwlag!) and I love it. Watching the flicks this way is a very strange experience, I love all the dirt on the print and the presentation of the covers and everything.

Man, covers are getting so neat nowadays I'm gonna have to buy more DVD cases to house them.
