Idea: Mallrats TV Cut - with deleted scenes added back in?
Time
I could probably do a composite edit of this. There's one thing, footage-wise, that's exclusive to the ABC version, a different thing with Shannon Hamilton on the screen at the end. Other than that I could just take the sections of dubbed audio and re-cut the extended cut to match the ABC cut. I have it recorded SLP on a VHS tape, along with the edited-for-TV Clerks (which features only two visual censors, and drops out every curse word). I don't really have the time to work on a composite of it right now, but maybe in a few months I will.

they even showed the original star trek episodes digitally restored, with new interviews with leonard nimoy and william shatner which did not end up on dvd, anyone have this?

I've got the Star Wars as hosted by Billy Dee and almost all of the Star Trek as hosted by Shatner, not the later Nimoy airings. That's all in SLP, though...

Help Wanted: WWII style edit of ANH - I need a title for this!
Time
If you compress the DVDs to around 4GB each, you might be able to fit 10 on there, but it doesnt seem like you're understanding that MPEG2 is very compressed video and if you compress it more to work with, then change it, and recompress it yet again, it's going to look like crap in a way you don't want it to.

That, and paying that much money for a $40 is just plain stupid.

If you're going to get an extrernal hard drive, you can do much better than 40GB for that price. For example, I got a Lacie D2 that is 250GB for around $200. Lacie makes good products, shop around online a little bit. The reviews at Cnet are always helpful.

Ideas & Info: 'a fistful of dollars' and 'for a few dollars more' special editions - and other rants about foreign releases...

I don't think it would really be worth converting two commercially available PAL DVDs to NTSC, you'd be better off just buying a $40 DVD player (such as a Cyberhome) that plays PAL to begin with.

I didn't know that about Kurosawa films. Would it not be possible to take the video from the Japanese discs and re-author the disc with subtitles from the Criterion edition?
