Could you perhaps provide links to the flicks in question so those that haven't seen them (i.e. me) can take a look? I'd like to see what you're talking about in particular.
I have the workprint spread across 3 DVDs. They picture quality isn't that great; it's dark and muddled, but you can see everything pretty okay. The sound is really great, however. The audio also falls out of sync at certain points because it is an extremely rough cut of the flick and that stuff wasn't finalized yet.
Thanks for that link, and I would be interested in the audiobook version you may have found, but the key int he book that I linked to is that it contains the screenplay for the film.
I did just buy the book, though (it was less than $5, including shipping), so this project should be seeing updates in a week or so.
Excellent! Like you and Jay, Moth3r knows what's up, how much force to use and when to use it. My commendations on the decision and to Moth3r for stepping up to the plate.
In Womble, is there a way to seperate the audio and video tracks from each other for re-synching out of sync audio? I have the 4.5hr workprint of This Is Spinal Tap and the audio is out of sync throughout and Womble seems like it would be an easy fix. Or would I have to demux first?
I just realized that this book exists and, from what Mitch quoted Gibson as saying in his first post, it most certainly has the dialogue that was in Japanese in the flick nicely laid out. I don't have any money at all right now, so if someone else wants to buy this for themselves (or for me ) so we can make this subtitle track, that would rock.
Thanks for those. The paintings aren't a huge loss as that whole introduction is rather annoying and I usually skip it. The deleted scenes look a helluva lot cleaner than I expected them to, though.
I'd love some screencaps of the extended version and the deleted scenes. I'd also like if you could specifically cap some of the intro to the extended version, I want to see how bad the matted paintings look.
Originally posted by: hiphats - The DVD lists the extended version as 2.35:1. This is not the case. It is in fact a 1.85:1 format, with the production painting prologue presented in a matted 1.85:1 format that removes some of the images from the screen. This is definitely not how we remember the extended version that was first telecast in 1988.
Is there someone downloading this who would burn it for me for the cost of blanks and postage (yeah, cost of a blank DL)? I'm at college and the server here chokes off the P2P ports and I can't download a damned thing.
