Info Wanted: What is the Best Quality OT Fan Preservation Set?
Time
If you're looking for restoration, like was said above, OCP's Classic Editions are best. These are what I watch.

Best non-anamorphic NTSC transfer is EditDroid. Best anamorphic NTSC transfer is Citizen, though he's not done with Jedi yet. If you're just looking to watch the movies again and aren't a completist, getting any one of these three sets should do you good. The CowClops v2 set has a lot of hype behind it for the PCM soundtrack, but the picture quality is slaughtered by a number of other sets out there.

Johnny Mnemonic Japan Cut <JM> Extended (Released)

The cover art is really nice. My only complaint is that the Japanese Cut of the film is actually just called JM.

I thought about this too when I was authoring the disc, but that title doesn't appear anywhere on the film itself. In the opening title sequence, it's still "Johnny Mnemonic", so I left it that way.

BLADE RUNNER: The Unauthorized OFF-WORLD Box Set (Released)

dark_jedi, to be honest I don't know exactly how DVD Rebuilder differentiates between 2.35:1 and 1.85:1, but it just works without cropping any of the actual image - it simply knows where to cut. I discovered it by accident.

Anamorphic widescreen isn't a 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 image, it's 1.77:1. Any cropping is done to that ratio and black bars are left over for anything that's wider than that.

Info: Preservation and Fan Edit Links - an Index of Completed Projects...
Time
I definitely think an index thread like this would be very helpful. I do have some suggestions, though:

*Follow the format more like Moth3r's version, rather than having the project title and then the "thread link" thing underneath. It's kinda clunky.
*Include the not-yet-completed projects in a seperate area of the list. Sometimes projects die and maybe someone looking through the list might have an interest in ressurecting a project and garner ideas from a thread they didnt know existed.
*Seperate section of same post for Star Wars stuff.
*It should all be in the first post in this thread, not spread out over two as you have it now.

I think if you do all this, it'll be pretty damned slick. You've got most of the recon work done already, it just gotta be cleaned up a bit.

Hey Alex, are you working on anything at the moment?

In terms of fanedits/restoration projects, no. I'm very busy on my own mini-feature called LiveStock which I have to have done by April 7 to get in my skool's film fest. This summer, I'm going to be working with Jeph York on a big Army of Darkness composite and a big Evil Dead edit.

I approve of this.

I think you're one of the only people on this board who could actually make this statement on a project like this and have it mean something.

Anyway, 5acrifice, this does sound like a very nice project. Audio in ProTools = sweet. Editing in iMovie = horriblehorriblebraindeath. Don't do it. Consult with Garrett, the guy I just quoted, as he has done (and is doing) some truly masterful work on a Mac.
