Nice find! But unless you want to just give it to me for me to enjoy, keep it to yourself. Whatever compositing of fan edition DVD of the flick eventually happens, I'm not going to be involved in the production. I simply don't have the time.

Ooh, that's pretty! A composite of this with the SciFi version, coupled with the uncensored soundtrack from the Encore version would probably be the ideal. Unless someone wants to also composite all of those with the official VHS, which I don't personally own.

It's shown on pay cable from time to time, maybe someone could do a fullscreen capture from there.

I'm not. My dad was. When he died, the doctors tried to just take all of his organs that might be used in transplants, regardless of whether they were going to be useful or not. They were just going to figure it out after they got them out. My mom overheard the doctors jovially joking about this. She stopped them from taking everything, and I think she let them take his heart because they knew it was healthy and it could be used for a transplant.

The business of death seriously, seriously freaks me out and I want to stay as far away from it as possible.

1997 landspeeder toy or a vintage one? I think I have a 1997 one at home somewhere. I wouldn't be able to get to it till May, but if nobody pops up till then and you still need it, I'd be happy to supply it then.

The MP3 of the rough carbon freezing scene is incredible. Damn, what I wouldn't give to hear an original undubbed/unmixed soundtrack for Empire. Or any of the films, for that matter.

I think I can help you on all counts except for ITC Franklin Gothic. Have "Franklin Gothic Demi" but no "Franklin Gothic Demi Bold". If those are the same things and something flew over my head, just let me know.

Ha! I never saw that part. That is pretty freakin' great. It's stuff like this why I love workprints. The stuff nobody was meant to see.

Seeders seem to have really dropped off, so I'll keep seeding for a while longer. Look for the first disc of the two disc extended version on Monday, let's say.

Just did some quick research and it doesn't seem like any of it's out there in any way. According to an interview I read, he said he scored about 2/3 of the film before Costner fired him from the project. I also asked a couple hardcore score collectors on Soulseek, none of whom had ever come across it. Unfortunate.

Looked at it again, it runs 2hrs 13mins. From what I could tell, it's completely lacking in score of any kind, which makes it pretty interesting. I'll be encoding it to Xvid overnight and I'll throw it up on Demonoid tomorrow, won't be as hard to seed as the 2-DVD extended version.

Judging by the clip that lorang posted, his is actually NTSC, as is mine. So there wouldn't be an issue, I don't think. Just syncing.

Actual workprint, yeah. Rough cut, yeah. Longer than the extended edition, no. It actually runs a bit shy of 120mins, making it even shorter than the theatrical version. I've never watched it all the way through. The image quality is pretty rough. I think it has the Everest ending. How about this: I'll upload a Xvid and if someone watches it and finds reason for me to upload the full DVD, I will.

Lorang's just gotten back to me to say that his version is indeed censored (he'll probably be posting here momentarily). So I'll be torrenting both versions. If there's an adventurous soul who wants to patch the uncensored audio into the censored parts of the version with the superior picture, please do so.

Man, let it go already. I'll admit his practices were shady and this release was really sub-par, but the dude brought a lot of excellent things into this community. Stuff like Deleted Magic and The Thief and the Cobbler set a crazy-high level of quality for fan releases that's only been met by a few other brilliant minds around here.

Tweaker, let me say on the record, that finding another diehard Waterworld fan is very refreshing.

I can still make my version available, yeah, but I want to wait to see Lorang's version. If it's a censored soundtrack, then I'll still upload mine. If it's not and you want mine because of the lack of watermark, I might just mail you discs.
