[snide humor]True. Hicks and Klan members don't usually vote Democrat. If they vote at all they'll vote for Bush. [/snide humor]

A-Are you suggesting Solo and Chewbacca... no, it's too sick to think about.

What? No, they're just 'good friends'.

Gee that's funny because I'm really sick and fucking tired of dimwits making up excuses to defend unnecessary revisionist changes that only serve to hurt the films and diminish their enjoyment by people who don't have their tongues up Lucas's arse.

I guess we have a lot in common then.

Because Obi-Wan was good until death. His old self was his last true form. Anakin Skywalker died when he turned into Darth Vader. A force ghost always takes the form of the last true form. Which was when he looked like Hayden. ... A force ghost has to look like they were when they were alive.

Blah, blah, blah... Where the Hell is it written?

What's canon is what was originally filmed: Anakin Vader's redemption and return the light side.

Why on Earth wouldn't his limbs and hair join him in the afterlife? Were they still evil?

Cool, I'm glad it's fine because Lucas had the chance to tie in the PT with the OT while he was making the PT films.

However he is not that good a film maker or screen writer so he lazily decided that revision was easier than trying to fit what had come before.

So he got out his crayons, scissors, glue and giant eraser and sullied the original films.

Why not simply let Anakin keep his eyebrows in ROTS? Why erase them from ROTJ? Why not hire an actor who looked more like Sebastian Shaw? Why the cut & paste? Why not use contact lenses on young Anakin? Why recolour the original?

It's stupid, they're stupid changes and Lucas is a stupid fat old man who has completely lost his mind.

We need to preserve his legacy and protect it from him.

Because they are changes, for the worse.

The films are changed, and for no reason.

These are not the films we love anymore, and the fat old bastard keeps repeating that those films we loved are gone.

Why are they gone?

Because he DESTROYED them.

That is why.

Although political correctness does suck and has resulted in limits on modes of expression I would argue against the Feminisation of America theory.

If anything current political climates have resulted in a further marginalisation of females. You realise that they are an average of 51% of any given population? Yet their power, economic and political, is half that of their male counterparts. Superior numbers and less say, even on issues concerning their own bodies. Men rule, and I don't mean that in the "Yoda ROCKS man" kind of way.

I'd say that there is still a ways to go until you become a femocracy.

I agree with the best person for the job whomever s/he may be. Bring on a female President.

Just so long as we can all still say whatever we want to say without being reprimanded by the thought police.

Do you realise that Ed O'Neill's Al Bundy character from Married With Children was an ironic satire of subnormal misogynists? (He asks already knowing the answer to be "huh?")

The 'ideal' you aspire to is a parody of a stereotype. Aim a little higher than the bottom ten percent.

Question: Why is Greedo different?

EDIT: Replying to Luke.

No I don't really think he'll do that, but he could.

There's a quote, I don't have it, where Lucas denies what we all assumed about Han having once been an Imperial officer who went AWOL to save the enslaved Wookie Chewie. He mentions something about Han being able to understand Chewie because he was raised by Wookies.

Found it:

Quote

Some gems from the FilmFax article:

Lenny Ripps, Co-Author, Original Script (Holiday Special)-

FAX: Did Lucasfilm present you with a story?

RIPPS: Yes, Pat and I spent a day with George Lucas in which he took a piece of paper and said "How long is a TV movie?" He put that number down and said "Now let's write what we're going to do every minute." It was the only day of my life that I forgot to have lunch! At that time I was a 310 pound man who didn't think about food for the entire day! Now I'm a couple hundred pounds lighter but, at that time, I was an eating machine who forgot to eat. It was fascinating! He had a vision of what it was going to be. The original director was a protegé of his. I don't know why he got replaced. He was a good guy, a good director, but the vision changed. It became more of a musical comedy.

FAX: What was George Lucas's original vision?

RIPPS: I think he wanted to make a sweet and sentimental vision of a holiday season and I think it evolved into something marginal which was not what I thought his vision was. Now I don't mean to speak for him, but my inclination was that it got kind of sappy.

FAX: It was an eclectic combination of elements: drama, space fantasy, and musical variety.

RIPPS: To me it didn't come together. The ideas were all right but I'm not sure that they belonged in the same room.

What was interesting was to me was that Lucas started talking about Star Wars as if was a real world. He said things like "Well, you know Han Solo is married to a Wookie, but we can't say that." Now that was 20 years ago, so my memory may be wrong. [As outrageous as Ripp's recollection sounds, there is evidence supporting it. Pat Proft corroborates it and an early draft of the Star Wars script (January 28, 1975) has Han Solo living with a furry female creature who he kisses. Proft also remembers learning that Han Solo was raised by Wookies, which is verified on pages 46 & 131 of Laurent Bouzereau's Star Wars: The Annotated Screenplays.] This is a world that the audience only knew a little bit about. It was like he was showing pieces of history; however, he knew the whole world, a world that we may never know. It was almost like he had discovered the Sphinx and was only showing parts of it, but he had it all.

He creates not just a biography but history and context. It was remarkable. I hope that as a writer, I learned from that. When you look at a character it's not just who they are on the page but who they were before you created them. He was one of the most interesting people that I ever spent time with because he has so much focus and passion. I subsequently re-wrote a movie for Steven Spielberg [Casper} and spend a day with him, and he was the same way: passionate and focused. He knew what it was about even though it wasn't done yet. By the same token, both men were totally open to ideas. There was no egotism at all.

And here in his own words for the unbelievers:

Quote

Taken from "The Annotated Screenplays"' interviews with Laurent Bouzerou:

Lucas on Han Solo:

"His character is basically a cynical loner who realises the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good...compromising and sacrificing his own welfare for those of others. I had a list of about thirty five themes that I wanted to explore in the film, and giving up your own personal gratification for the good of others was one of them.

The idea was that Han Solo was an orphan. He was raised by wookies, befriended Chewbacca, and they went off."

There's a bunch of cool contradictory quotes from The Beard at that second link that prove what a lying asshat he has been for the last three decades.

Enjoy.

Yeah, that is until Lucas in His 'infinite wisdom' decides to have a young Han Solo growing up on Kashyyyk raised by Wookies and meeting HaydenVader in ROTS.

It's funny until you realise that the fat plaid bastard is THAT insane.

It will probably help connect with Revenge of the Sith.

Truly you are an apologist of the highest order.

"Who are you to question His will?"
"He is the Creator and He can do whatever He wants to His galaxy."
"Everything He does He does for a reason."
"All of His decisons are divine and unquestionable."
"Every one of His creations is perfect and full of unknowable majesty and wonderment."
"This was all part of His plan from the beginning."
"He is just testing our loyalty and devotion to Him."

Sound familiar?

Even when evidence is staring you in the face you retreat back into the same corner deifying the man as if he actually knows what he's doing.

Blind faith just means you've got your eyes closed Jimbo.

Could Fox release the OT?

As much as it pains me, Jimbo's right about the fact that T3 was released on DVD in 4:3 open matte fullscreen.

I'm sure he bought the 'foolscreen' edition because he gets an extra half second of nipplege, and with his loathsome misogynistic personality likely to ensure that he dies a virgin it's probably the only way for him to experience the female form.

EDIT: Broken links. omg masturbatory heaven article

WOW good job Sifo-Dyas. That does bring the exchange back to how it should have been done.

However after seeing that scene it appears that McDiarmid was asleep or on heavy doses of pain killers when he recorded that scene.

Also that the make-up crew, probably unuccustomed to ACTUALLY having to do latex work after years of being shunted aside in favour of the CGI crews, have completely forgotten how to do their jobs.

Gee, I don't know why GL just didn't use a CGI Emperor considering that he has stated that he hated the limitations of Latex and puppets and that CG 'just seems more real' to him.

Give me the Clive Monkey-Woman Reville Emperor over this stilted crap any day. It's amazing but the Reville-voiced composite actually does a more convincing job than McDiarmid. That's not really fair I guess as McDiarmind did a fantastic job matching the OOT TESB Reville-monkey-woman with his wonderful performance in ROTJ.

This is just further proof of how much Lucas sucks and how poory executed, not to mention totally unnecessary, all these arbitrary changes to our beloved saga are.
