A Single Man (2009).

Visually beautiful adaptation of the Isherwood novel.

Some lovely subtle visual effects which are very evocative of the sensation of mood shifts and some well crafted performances.

It's a bit of a downer though (just like real life from a certain point of view).

**edit - I was thinking of A Serious Man, the Coen Bros movie, which was amazing.  I haven't seen this, although I've always meant to.

Watched The Future of Food last night.  Documentary.  Highly recommended.

Pacing is probably why the pre-Death Star battle meeting between Biggs and Luke was cut in the theatrical version. It somewhat ruins the grim atmosphere before the battle (i.e. Ben dead, Han leaving, Leia not that hopeful) by having a friendly meeting between two old friends.

Wow, I never thought of that.  It makes so much sense too!  I can't remember seeing it without that scene, but now I really want to.  D_J's V3... can't... wait...

PT Optimism
Time

LOL it took two posts for the optimism to die.

I know the movies are bad so I don't know why you're arguing my points, I'm just looking for some stand-alone moments that we can look at and say, "Ok, that was pretty cool".  And I was talking about the song Duel of the Fates, not the scene.  The song is great.

*edit - I figured since this is OriginalTrilogy.com this thread would be off-topic.  Sorry if I'm wrong.

Ok so not everything about the PT was terrible.  What were some things you specifically liked about them?  Here's some:

  • Duel of the Fates is so epic it makes you forget what movie you're watching for a while
  • Anakin cutting off Dooku's hands was fuckin sweet I don't care who you are
  • Natalie Portman.  So hot it's not right.

Shadow of a Doubt.  Interesting film, said to be Hitchcock's favourite among his own body of work.

Before that, Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Before that, The Truman Show.

Truman Show is one of my favorite movies.  So underrated.

Winter's Bone was mine.  And it was awesome.  10/10

Before that I watched Large's Ark, L8wrtr's edit of Garden State.  A great improvement on the original.

it is hard for me these days to watch ANY version of the SW movies because I have seen them, and heard them, waaaaay too
Now HERE's something we agree on! I've seen these movies so many times that unless I fast forward to my favorite scenes I tend to fall asleep... of course you have more reasons for having see nit. Me? I'm just a fanboy.

This is one of the main reasons I've been trying to find the best versions to get before I start downloading and watching them all.  Don't wanna get burnt out!

But I just found out tonight that my 18yo male cousin has NEVER SEEN ANY STAR WARS MOVIE EVER.  I don't know why his life has been so deprived, but I'm about to correct this horrible, horrible oversight, so that'll give me a good reason to watch yet another version.

Yeah I just tore mine apart at need to get a few new parts for it, and as soon as I do it should be warm enough to ride, I can't frickin' wait.  And the gas mileage of mine is one of the best parts of it - upwards of 50mpg.  I hardly ever drive my (shitty) car at all in the summer.

But I can't wait to get a big 'ol bike some day.  Although I think I'd want a Vitory of some sort, or a Moto Guzzi since I am Italian.  If I did get a Harley thought it would definitely be a Night Rod Special.  I just think that is the most badass bike in the world.  It's the goddam batmobile of bikes.
