vintage warbirds, flyboys and their stories

Yeah, just as I said I'm researching now the details of the aircraft/engine type and how could it get here. The company's website lists a whole bunch of oldtimers, but it will take some effort to pinpoint the right one. I guess I need to take it off the wall (for the first time in some 14 years!) to check the other side, which may have the propeller type & engine specification (I know only the serial number and manufacturer as of now).

I thought I will post a thread, where I could share with you my passion - aviation. And here it is - tada!

Although I won't mind an occasional jet or helo talk, this thread is mainly about prop birds from WW2 era.

So to start with something:

1) My prop

I got it from my Dad when we moved to a new flat in early 90s, but he had it for a while longer. His friend who found it for him told him that it was from an old Polish plane, RWD-14 "Czapla" recon aircraft, and this is what I knew for over 10 years.

But today I know the truth...

Recently I found a guy on a WW2-related forum, who was showing photos of his findings - propellers. I helped him to ID them, but this also gave me the idea to check my prop. Even though I promised to donate it to the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków and they have experts in this field, I thought that finding its origins may be fun.

The chief of the museum's exposition told me what to look for and I finally identified it!

My fixed, 2-blade wooden propeller was made in 1930s (this is the part I'm researching now, along with plane/engine type and how did it get here) by American manufacturer from Florida, Sensenich Wood Propeller Co., Inc..

Life constantly offers us surprises, right?

I'm also looking forward to this title Looks like it will shake the FPS genre, just as its "daddy" did. Some people were disappointed with DoomIII, I wonder what will be their reaction to HL2.

I hope your mom gets well soon, Master Sifo-Dyas

Nope. Here in Poland we celebrate 11/11 as Indepedence Day.
Three great empires (Germany, Austria & Russia) were occupying us for over a hundred years - that's it, shortly after our patriots helped to defend the young American democracy, those authoritarian monarchies ganged up on us to snuff out the spirit of freedom in the Europe, thus wiping out our Republic from the map. So the end of XVIIIc marked a birth of American state and the fall of Polish one.
When the Great War ended, those 3 countries were weak after 4 years of trench battles and this allowed us to take over the power over our country, with the aid of such patriots as Marshal Jozef Pilsudski. Our state was reborn as the Second Republic.
But this didn't mean peace yet. We had to fight 2 more years of frontier war, ended by defeating the Soviet army marching on us in 1920.

Don't be so sure. We both joined in March 2003. I might have joined the forum few days later, but since forum's database was wiped out this year and you can't log in with your previous account, I can't prove it to you this way.

So skip the "long" in your sentence.

And no matter how bigger your experience on this forum might have been, this doesn't give you the right for rude behaviour. You're just asking for personal attacks by doing so... Continue to cuss at everybody and the sh*tstorm will start again.

Oh, he was that idoit that liked NJO. Man that guy must really have had no life, that series was horrible.

A lady doesn't come to a party to start calling everybody bastards or idiots. That sounds more like a behaviour of a spoiled Californian brat...

Nothing wrong with Canada - heck, even I consider moving there

But the joke was based on the fact, that on Nov.3, day after you-know-who won the election, Canada's (and New Zealand's) immigration offices witnessed few times more US visitors on their websites than the usual traffic... so I tried to make a joke about angry Dubya, trying to stop his citizens from running away from him.
