That's right - and frankly, there are many fansites with equally informative databanks (especially when it comes to EU).

Maybe the thing is that other SW sites featuring forums gather all sort of "fans", both hardcore and newbies, both OT lovers and those who heard about SW for the first time when AOTC was released.
We share more intimate passion - respect for the Old/Original Trilogy - maybe that's what joined us so tightly?

Naive question #1
Time
OK - you may laugh from me but I'm gonna ask it:

How come I can't find our banner at www.theforce.net ? Do they support us? If not, then maybe we should "persuade" them (use of Force Grip highly recommended) to do so...

It could generate more signatures than printed article - remember, people like to hop from one site to another - it's a matter of a one click. If you read newspaper you have to be at/get back to home/work in order to fire up your PC, remember about the article, type the url manually.... etc.

This doesn't mean I'm against articles - press on the press, all the way!

I hope that now, as we are on new server, we can stirr up things major time!

GREAT NEWS ALL!
Time
I grow jealous of Luke's success. Too bad I'm too lazy to write to newspaper

So I wrote to 3 fansites (one major, one multimedia-deposit, one nostalgia-oriented).

One has already posted my e-mail and placed a banner: take a look.

I got response from another - the banner will be added with the new update.

This time I am very disappointed... seems that you two completely don't understand me... I'm getting treated like a newbie who posts something like "diz site sux" and not like a stalwart supporter, who I am. To straighten things out:

1. I've signed the petition when the counter showed ~400 signatures. My current ID# is around 800.
For those who can't infer anything from the words above: This means that I gave my support when there were not many people around and the sheer number of signatures meant nothing.

2. I've sent e-mails to my friends. And this wasn't just one e-mail as I know their ID#...
For those who can't infer anything from the words above: I kept bothering my buddies until they signed the petition. I do spread the word.

3. I've changed my signature on other forums to lead people to this site.
For those who can't infer anything from the words above: I do spread the word.

4. I've looked for websites with banner promoting this site and reported them to Jay.
For those who can't infer anything from the words above: I'm trying to help Jay regarding "reaching the target readers".

5. I'm doing all this sh*t, while I still do not own DVD player!
doing all this sh*t = supporting the petition

I haven't changed my mind regarding the words I posted. You are all young people, sometimes overzealous, sometimes slap-happy - getting into new things with joy and hope, still believing that you can change the world. I have more realistic approach to life (you may call me an ex-optimist) and I'm sorry to say this to you: the world will never be the way you want it to be... Wearing "NO to WAR" T-shirt won't stop advancing tanks and rarely will force politicians to change their attitudes... Sad but true.
So, why to wear such T-shirt? To soothe your conscience, that you have done the right thing, all what you could do. Is having realistic view of the situation a sin? I gave my "yes" to this petition and I'm not taking it back, as I believe this was a good thing to do. But this doesn't mean that I can't think: "Gee, I doubt that GL will change his mind solely on this petition's sake..."

So next time please reconsider your thoughts before you write "bugger off", OK?

Boycott Episode III!

Great idea, LordPerrinOfNeomega! I made a list of additional optional commitments:

[...]
15. I will tatoo my *** with a following text : Lucas! We want OT on DVD now!
16. I will start a hunger strike until OT gets released on DVD (and I'm not afraid of dying from that).
17. I will set myself on fire as a protest.
18. I will set other people on fire as a sign of protest.
19. I will set my home on fire as a sign of protest
20. I will set Lucas's Ranch on fire as a sign of protest.
21. I will destroy a town somewhere in the Persian Gulf as a sign of protest.
22. I will live in celibate as long as it takes Lucas to release OT on DVD.

indiana jones / american graffiti discussion
Time
I can't believe my own words as I was always waiting anxiously to see it... to experience another great adventure... to meet one of my favorite movie characters... ...but as I hear rumors about Indy 4 and given the contemporary style of movie-making I wish George & Steven weren't making Indiana Jones 4 at all !

...coz I'm afraid it will have the "look&feel" of 'Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine' (a PC game by Lucasarts). For those who don't play games:

1. The action takes place after WWII - Indy's movies have this unique 30's atmosphere: clothes, planes, cars, music etc. - changing it we may expect helicopters and such, besides the "balance of power" has changed much and this leads to point two, which is:
2. No Naizis! - "Nazis, I hate those guys!" - imagine Indy battling with, say, Soviets (this was in the game!). Soviets fit well as baddies but in Bond movies, not Indy! It was the Third Reich that was obsessed with paranormal stuff (watch documentaries on Discovery channel if you don't believe me) while Soviets always denied the existence of anything supernatural (maybe except the abilities of their leaders ) as this was part of their ideology. I will miss bad guys in German uniforms...
3. Old Indy... - with all respect to Harrison, isn't he too old for this sh*t? If they are going to make "granddaddy" Indy like in this horrible TV series made by Lucas ('Young Indy' series sux!) then I quit... If only the could make reasonable decision to, say, place the action in 1944 (war is still on) and Indy made to escape from German POW camp - this will explain why he looks older than 46 years... (being in prison isn't the best thin for your look/health)

Maybe it's just me bitch*n' ,but I no longer enjoy Steven's movies (those recent ones - it seems he lost his "what it takes", his style)... and Williams didn't pleased me for a long time ('Duel of the Fates' and 'Across the Stars' is not enough - in the old days his whole soundtracks rocked, not only parts of it)... Maybe the got too old? Too bad there are NO young artists I would like/respect...
