Info Wanted: Is anyone doing a "Virtual" Lost Cut?

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm thinking of. Those images of shots (minus matte paintings) have apeared in numerous publications over the years. There are shots of the sandcrawler underbelly where there is nothing above (later filled in with a painting).

I think another fun aspect would be to actually shoot extra footage or use stuff from other films to represent alternate shots. the Lost Cut was said to be "documentary" like. So there are probably lots of scenic shots in it.

This would truely be a project that would have to involve a number of individuals.

I'm thinking different than Deleted Magic.

Remove special effect matte shots so that you see just the physical parts that were built on set. This could be done superimposing from still shots found in videos and magazines over the years.

Actually create scenes like the old woman who yells at Luke as he speeds by in the landspeeder.

Make it in black and white and add grain to the film to match know lost cut footage like the early cantina scene from Behind the Magic

Remove music cues when possible

Use WW2 dogfight footage for the space battles.

etc..etc..etc..

In my opinion apples and oranges to Deleted Magic.

Info Wanted: Question about 1980 uncut Empire
Time
Hopefully one day we might get to see some of those scenes. I for one have fallen guilty of "creating" a different version of a film. Now don't laugh because this film doesn't even come close to Star Wars. But I rembmer watching this movie on Saturday afternoons in the late 70's. It is called Flesh Eaters and has to do with little flesh eating organisms on an island with a German scientist. I saw it maybe 3 times and not again unti the late 80's when it was released on video. When it was released I picked it up to find it was much cheezier than I remembered it and in black and white! I still have vivid memories of some of the death scenes and they are in full color. Go figure. So young minds are creative and do change things the way we may want them to really be.

Did someone watch this, record this and put this online?

And what kind of extended scenes were there?

I just edited my previous post with descriptions of the scene. People who saw it were very disappoited that nothing major was added.

Wow. Absolutely nothing worthy of an archival project. What a shame.

Need transfer of PAL DV tape files to DVDRs. How???
Time
Type 1 or 2 shouldn't make a difference.

The tape was mailed to me from a friend in France. That's why it is PAL. When all is done I will author the content to a compliant PAL DVD. But I want to do some cleanup and color correction, etc before I convert to MPEG. I have some of the material on a MPEG DVD already but obviously I cannot to that stuff to the files since they have already been converted to mpeg. So I asked my friend to capture his original VHS tape to a DV medium. He doesn't have the PC resources otherwise I would have had him give me the files on DVD. This was my only way to get the stuff from him in DV format.

I don't have a DV camcorder let alone one that does PAL (I live in the US). I'm not going to buy a PAL camcorder to transfer one tape. I don't care about the files being DVD compliant because I want the files in DV format for editing/cleanup purposes. And I undersand that a 60 min DV tape will probably return 4 to 5 DVDRs worth of AVI (DV) files.

Okay. I'm here in the US. I have a 60 min PAL DV tape. I need to get the DV file(s) off of it and transfered to multiple (probably4 to 5) DVDRs so that I can clean them up, edit them etc. I cannot have them as MPEG2 files. I need them as their true DV format. Does anyone know of a company or individual who does this? Most conversion places I have called only do tape to compliant MPEG DVD conversion.

Info, & Help: looking for... Supergirl - Oh yes... Supergirl is the topic...
Time
I have never actually seen Supergirl. but over the years I had heard a lot of people wanting that extended edition that came out a few years ago. So there is obviously an audience. And hey..we all have our guilty pleasures. And good thing that we do. Otherwise all that would be available on DVD would be an average limited Blockbuster type stock of titles.

Idea: The 1976 crawl
Time
How about putting it into that "virtual lost cut" that was talked about here some time ago? This is the one that would show off someone's creativity by creating or better yet removing special effects from shots, etc. I think it was also suggested to rough up the film in all black & white to make it look like the lost cut.

Yes I know we can't re-create a true lost cut. But this would be just for fun.
