There used to be a TV show about this stuff on TLC or whatever. It was fairly entertaining.

1913 is the year Peter Cushing was born...
Xhonzi, your kids will find out about the prequels someday and there's nothing you can do about it.

Here are two good places to start;
I've never seen this before. This is really really cool!
I find the notion that Lucas harbors some malicious hatred towards us, and that everything including GOUT has been part of his grand scheme to present his 'true vision' to be pretty absurd.
I believe that about as much as I believe that Luke and Leia being siblings was some kind of carefully planned plot element.
Lucas is simply hopelessly out of touch, probably blinded mostly by his success and inflated sense of ego. Besides, everything we know about Lucas tells us that he doesn't actually plan that far ahead. He just does things and then pretends he planned to do them the whole time.
The easiest way to watch them is to watch the theatrical bonus discs from the most recent DVD release.
If you want better quality, you can look into some of our fan preservations and theatrical reconstructions.

The OOT will never be officially brought back, just the way no one can raise a dead person to life.

Lucas knows there's demand, and he's obviously at least a little bit willing to meet us halfway given the fact that he put out the GOUT. Sure it was a sloppy laserdisc transfer, but it's something, and that tells me that he's warming up a bit more to the idea that these films, in their original forms, do deserve to be preserved alongside his "true vision".
oh god I've got over 200 games just on my shelf, not even gonna try to think of the games I've played that I DON'T own
If one were to dub Anakin trooperman style you could definitely pull off the archive access thing I'd think.
I'll make a four hour video rebuttal to your 888 page essay

It's Star Wars. Being out of print doesn't at all mean that it's unavailable. The '97 SE VHS tapes are out of print too but that doesn't make them difficult to find.
Anyhow, yeah I sorta noticed that they've more or less replaced this series with the new one. That's a bit of a shame, really, because this series was really well received when it came out. Personally I kinda see the new one replacing the old one as almost a spit in the face to Tardakofsky.

A lot of this has already been covered in an edit I'm working on, You might like to take a look there for ideas and such.

I think someone else here was also working on an edit but I don't know the state of that.
Mine has been on hold for a bit of a while as I tackle other things and I just don't know when it will be done. Maybe we could combine our ideas in a joint venture?
I actually stumbled onto yours while I was searching to see who else has tackled this. I really like what you were doing, though I don't think I'll personally end up going so far as to re-rotoscope lightsabers and whatnot.
And I appreciate the suggestions, Pagz. Thanks.
Starting it out with Dooku attending the gladiatorial combat was actually one of my first ideas with this. I kinda experimented with it but didn't like how it was turning out. I might try it again though.
I don't think Lucas had any intention of making the prequels until he stuck that "Episode V" in the opening crawl of Empire Strikes Back.
Episode I: The Double Lightsaber
Episode II: The Purple Lightsaber
Episode III: ULTIMATEEE POWERRR

If you're going to present this on a dvd, you might consider including those stand alone segments as a bonus feature.
This is an excellent idea. I'll be sure to do that.
I’m working on an edit to trim down and turn the 2003 clone wars cartoon series into a movie that hopefully has a presentation that matches stylistically with the rest of the series.
As my skills aren’t exactly exceptional or anything, this won’t be a terribly radical edit, so no color correcting or anything like that.
Here are my plans so far for it:
add opening crawl and pan down scene reminiscent of the other films.
remove the opening montage, as well as the scenes with Kit Fisto on Mon Kalamari, Yoda saving the two Jedi on Ilum, and Mace Windu fighting the droids on Dantooine. These all are completely self contained segments that don’t impact the overall story, and while they’re fun to watch in their own right, I feel they disrupt the story too much to leave in a “film” version.
remove the briefing scene, and everything leading up to the battle on Muunilist. After the opening crawl, the camera will simply pan down to the Republic Fleet coming out of hyperspace toward Muunilist. Will probably use some info from the briefing scene in the new crawl.
probably some other minor cuts here and there
My most radical idea: considering replacing Grievous’s voice with one that better matches his portrayal in ROTS. Perhaps using voice samples form video games or the CG cartoon?
I know it’s not much, and I know that people have attempted it before (seeing ADigitalMan’s version inspired me to make this one actually), but I just want something a little more streamlined and comfortable to watch in one sitting.
Any suggestions/comments are welcome, thanks.

TFN fans will be ecstatic at the messed up colors and crushed blacks and poor audio mixes. They will love the fact that these were not even scanned at 2003-4 HD ceiling on resolution, no indeed only 1080P when they were doing 2-4k scans back then. And now they do 6-8 k and up, with much better tech advanced in seven years.
The 2004 master is at an obsolete resolution, and not even up to release print 35mm quality.
Its an outrage.
It's not that newer fans like that stuff, it's just that they don't care.
I really do wonder if FOX would've released nice restored versions of the OOT if they still owned the rights to the franchise...

People... the hologram scene is DONE! stop filling this thread with microscopic nitpicks that aren't even noticable except when one watches the film frame by frame.
Nothing to say really, I just find this bit funny.
^those are some obnoxious images

They totally missed the boat on that one. No prequel images, no jar jar, no hayden, no nuked fridge and shia in indiana jones, or aliens. What were they thinking.
I didn't know that the Star Wars prequels and Indy 4 were part of your childhood...
Well consider my comment retracted. Didn't really think of things that way.
For all the complaining about the lack of blinks, I found it kind of funny how the 2004 one didn't blink either.
