4K restoration on Star Wars

Isn’t it a possibility that the original version would have to be “reassembled” due to the negative being conformed to the SE? If that’s the case maybe they didn’t think changing back flashes that last only a few frames was all that necessary. I know I wouldn’t. Changing them in the first place was of course unnecessary, but once it’s already been done, I don’t think it matters enough to put it back.

If your screen is 125", you’re much more likely to notice a difference with 4K than most will with screens half that size. You could probably live with out, but I don’t think the quality increase would be insignificant.

Just to add another thought to this discussion before we let it rest, another reason I don’t want to change is because this projector is in a completely light controlled room that I can make pitch black in the middle of the day, so I decided to go with an LED projector since it’s reduced brightness wouldn’t really be an issue. (And it isn’t. It looks great) so I could watch it 40 hours a week for 10 years or so without so much as changing the lamp, it’ll probably outlast the projector itself. So I should probably just enjoy the projector as much as I want and then by the time it dies 4k projectors might (hopefully) be odown to around the same price I paid for this 1080p one.

So is 4k really that much better than 1080P? I have a few tvs, but I do all my “serious” viewing on a 1080P projector onto a 125 (not exact, I couldn’t get the room set up perfectly to make the image exactly match the screen and I’ve since been too lazy to cut the unused screen out around the image because I don’t want to replace the borders…) inch screen and it looks beautiful, would upgrading to 4K really make that huge of a difference? The picture is already crystal clear and sharp and with a very large amount of detail. And 4k projectors… well they aint cheap fellas.
