Possessed Return of the Jedi-* Resurrected!!*
Time

Well the good news is I’ve finished gathering all my sources and getting them to match. I’m using telecine7s version as a base which is just the 2011 blu ray but with re rotoscoped lasers and sabers, but I’ve applied a very subtle color correction to the whole to make it a little less dull looking. But I also used the hdtv captures from schorman to get rid of the new door to jabbas palace, the cgi dug in jabbas palace and restore the original effect of han thawing out. So those shots had to be matched as well, but that was easy since I could just use the sane setting I used for the blu ray footage. But I also am using harmys version to remove the sarlaac beak, and obviously restore sebastian Shaw (as if I needed to say I’d be doing that) and those took the most work to match up. Since this is an edit I didn’t so much care for matching the look of what it looked like in 1983, so I decided to keep the modern look of the blurays (with some tweaking) and harmys footage had to be processed to match. This mostly included color adjustment (harmys looked great but far, far more yellow than my taste and it didn’t mesh well with the surrounding footage, and in cases where he used 35 mm footage I’ve also used an excellent filter called MSharpen which helped the footage get the same sharpness as the blurays, also upscaled to 1080p)

Screenshots of all this to follow if you guys are interested.

Then I had to sync the film to the 93 sound mix since it still sounds the best to me. The 2011 has slightly clearer dialogue, but the music and sound effects sound much more powerful and impactful on the 93 mix, so I’m using that as a base. Although some scenes that are mostly dialogue and have a lot of editing will revert to the 2011 mix so I can take advantage of the discrete channels to silence the dialogue to create longer and seamless cuts. The final mix will be a 640 kbps 2.0 ac3 file that will largely be sourced from a lossless wav capture of the 93 mix and with a bitrate that high it will mostly be preserved. But it will be 100% dolby surround/pro logic compatible, even the scenes that use the 2011 mix I took special care to downmix properly so they could later be upmixed on a pro logic system. But I will also provide a 5.1 upmix for those without that capability, but the 2.0 track would be my recommended track due to the high bitrate only going across two channels, it will basically sound lossless.

All this took longer than it should have, because honestly it wasn’t very fun so I wasn’t super motivated. Plus after the long hiatus ive only been working on it for a few months, only a couple weeks of which were actually consistently working on it. But it’s all done now and I’ve commenced with the actual editing a few days ago.

I have seen plenty of movies that are far worse (lately The fate of the furious). At least AOTC has a solid score, very interesting visual ideas, and was a unique experimental flick at its time. Some scenes are even quite good.

I actually agree with this. It’s not a “great” film. Maybe not even a good film. But it’s only really terrible when you compare it to a masterpiece like empire strikes back. There are some fan edits that I can actually enjoy the experience.

I loved TFA, but RO didn’t do a whole lot for me. I enjoyed the ride, but it didn’t really resonate with me like the others. I think it’s because it’s more of a plot driven film whereas the others are character driven. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it and it was awell made movie it’s just not my style I guess. Krennic was good though. Really it was all good, it just didn’t click or pop with me the way the originals and TFA did.

I think Rogue One may be a better movie plot wise but there’s a certain level of emotional investment that makes enjoy TFA more. There are a ton of small problems with TFA that I can just overlook because I’m invested in Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren just like with the OT.

Pretty much this. I may do a very light small trims edit of TFA After I finish my return of the Jedi edit (owhich I am actually working on I just haven’t bothered to bunk the thread because I don’t have any significant news on it because before I started actual editing I spent a long time just getting all my sources together and to match. Using telecines version of the blu ray that has redone lightsabers and blaster shots with a very subtle base color adjustment done by me, but I’m also using a few shots from the hdtv cap of the 2004 to get rid of the changed door at jabbas palace, and to get rid of the dug in jabbas palace and restore the original effect of Han thawing out. Then I also used harmys de ed to get rid of the sarlaac beak and restore Sebastian Shaw, so I had to do some adjustments to make those shots match as well. They look great on their own bit I wanted a more modern look since this is an edit so I wanted it to match the blu ray footage. Then had to sync it to the 93 mix before I started editing. Wow, sorry that was so long and off topic)

Saw the new psychiatrist, finally. My doctor has an odd definition of “real nice guy.” He’s a little brittle and distant. I don’t necessarily mean that in an unpleasant, and being detached from emotions is part of his job, but it felt like I was in a movie or something; getting dry questions, having him write everything down. I know, I know, it takes multiple sessions. I was pretty disappointed not to be prescribed any new medications or dosage increases, but he did recommend some psychological. I’ll be honest, the experience wasn’t particularly pleasant or helpful, at least not yet. I know, I need to be patient, and hurting takes a long time to heal. I just wish I was a little better than I’d been before the appointment.

Part of healing is participating. It is a conscious effort to do so but it’s probably not something you’d do normally which can make it difficult to start. There are some good suggestions in this thread but you have to be vigilant if you want to get better. It can be hard work but I promise you, it’s worth every moment. I am proud and happy for you, that you’ve come this far, you can overcome.

I am routing for you Mike.

+1

Jethro Tull

Added to the list of bands with sick flute playing

I don’t get it.

Weird rock band that had flute solos in rock songs.

I get that, I just don’t get what that has to do with this thread or anything that had been said prior to your post.

Perhaps he was referencing the similarity between “Jethro Tull” and “Jetrell Fo”?

And Songs from the Wood is great!

This, with an added bonus of adding things to lists.
