However I still don't get what you are trying to accomplish with teasing this community with something you don't intend to distribute.

Because it shows us that he's actually doing it. And I have a positive hope and prayer that the powers that be will restore Star Wars (with mverta's restoration having been done by then) will eventually be officially released in Blu. Until then, we'll have to make do with our preservations. (which, sadly, I still have absolutely no access to)

To me, the greatest joy will be to see E.T. released on Blu-Ray with the original version only (Spielberg apparently will not release the revised one, he said) as a statement to his good friend that you just don't screw with your original works. This, coming after the Indiana Jones trilogy with no CGI improvements or dialog changes.

Lucas will forever be delusional and never satisfied with his movies. I could give a flying fuck about the 3-D versions of the Saga.

I'm looking forward to seeing Indy in Blu in all its unaltered glory as well.

35mm Fully Restored Unaltered Trilogy with pristine lossless '93 Stereo

Ferrari or Lamborghini?

I, personally, would go with the unrestored 70mm version. That way, at the very least, we'd get the authentic Six-Track Audio and better source material to base our preservations off of. Besides, there are members like Magnolia Fan who can do the restoration.

Anyway, I say Indiana Jones. Too slow.

Here's a few of questions to the Old Timers of the Off-Topic (section) of the (website for the) Original Theatrical (version) of the Original Trilogy (The OTotOTotOTotOT):

What was it like seeing Han Shoot First in the theater?

What was it like seeing a more natural binary sunset in technicolor?

Why do people keep making jokes about Frink's mom?

Did you really want answers to these questions...

Or did you just want an excuse to use OTotOTotOTotOT?

Very well done, BTW.

Sort of both. I wanted to use OTotOTotOTotOT, but I also seriously wanted to know why people keep making Frink's Mom jokes.

And thanks.

Man, there are so many I wish I had here. The Space Jam and Sean Bean ones especially.

Han Shot First, although the other one is pretty funny.

Promen-aid or Promen-ahd?

So many... questions? You can answer already-answered questions, if you want. The rules are very easy-going. ;)

The other one is my all-time favorite Han vs. Greedo re-edit. That being said, Han Shot First. Period.

Pomen-aid.

Kool-Aid or Fully Restored Unaltered Trilogy in brand-new 5.1 Surround Sound?

In my opinion... this thread is no longer the solution, but has become part of the problem. I mean, I think the intent of this thread is/was working, but when it pops up now... it just reminds people of the guy we're all ignoring.

The pledge was for us to not RESPOND to Two of Four. As long as nobody's responding, everything will work out. It has for me so far, though I was never even that bothered by him in the first place.

Blu-Ray of a Technicolor IB Print (with original color timing intact but no touching up, film artifacts untouched) with original theatrical mixes or Blu-Ray of Star Wars restored by Robert Harris and new high-end 5.1 mix from original recordings?

Technicolor with Original Sound Mix. The new 5.1 mix might be cool, and it may include some of the Mono Mix changes, but it's just not original.

GOUT or Unrestored HD Original Unaltered Trilogy?

Has anyone posted a link to the blu-ray.com review yet? If not...

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Star-Wars-Blu-ray/14903/#Review

Yeah, the picture quality is apparently great on the OT. Sure, the picture's sharp, but he didn't mention that the transfer was from 2004. Sure, the lightsabers look "better," but he failed to mention Vader's pink lightsaber in a few ESB shots. Sounds like he was biased because "It's Star Wars! On Blu-Ray!" I don't blame him, but the review does seem a little weighted.

OT Deleted Scenes Discussion
Time

I've seen one review of Timmy to the Rescue that called MGM Money Grubbing Morons. If that's the case, then LFL stands for Lazy Film Loathers. Magnolia Fan, your restoration work on that deleted scene, even if it's a rough test, is far and away better than the official release.

It'd be nice if LFL at least scanned in a 1080p24 HD Unaltered Trilogy in the quality of the deleted scenes, with at least the theatrical stereo sound. (We could call it the UFO: Unrestored Film-based Originals) It wouldn't be ideal, but at least we'd have the Unaltered Trilogy in HD. And Magnolia Fan could probably clean up the video as best he can, and we'd have a nice, mostly restored, HD OOT to base our fan preservations off of.

EDIT: Is it just me or are our standards getting lower? I think it's just me.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

Okay...

So... I told my dad about how the avi torrents I use for my videos are pirated. His reaction? I don't really think he cares too much about the legality of the avi torrents. He told me "When you walk into a movie theater with a camera, and you record the movie, and you make copies of it at home to sell, that's piracy." I'm not sure if he's against torrented avi movies.

But even if he lets me off with the avi's, the project that I'm currently working on that uses torrented avi's as a source will be my last. I'll delete all of the projects not related to it and all of the avi movies that aren't being used in it. Once that video is ready, it's done. I'll upload that one, as well as two more that have been ready for some time, and then spare my old hard drive of the burden. No more editing pirated films. I'll stick mostly to recording my own stuff. As an added benefit, it'll give my Indy Gear more time on my back and not collecting dust in the closet. With Sony Vegas, color correction shouldn't be too hard if exposure is a problem.

As for the V3, my dad says we'll wait on it. Talk about it later. I'm beginning to think there's a chance for me to enjoy the V3 after all. :)
