Trivial Pursuit: STAR WARS ORIGINAL TRILOGY (Part III)
Time
 1. Landmines, when activated, are randomly placed beneath one question, using the same random number generator that decides points (this is to avoid predictable placing under higher end questions). When "stepped on" with a correct answer, the point value is taken away from the player instead of added to their score.
 2. Threepio saw the Ewoks, then said "Oh my goodness."
 3. The type of droids that travel in hyperspace are probe droids.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

astromech 21 POINTS

see you auntie 12 POINTS

HotRod 11 POINT

Johnny Ringo 9 POINTS

Mielr 8 POINTS

bigbaddaddyvader 5 POINTS

Gaffer Tape 5 POINTS

bkev 3 POINT

bigbaddaddyvader 1 Landmine

Moth3r 1 Landmine

Johnny Ringo - Invincibility Star [activated]

Which Red Pilot completed a torpedo run in the Death Star's trench, but missed his target? 1 Proton Torpedo [HotRod]

How many TIE fighters followed the Falcon away from the second Death Star's overloading reactor? 1 Blaster Rifle [Johnny Ringo]

How many royal guards were present when Luke Skywalker entered the Emperor's throne room? 2 Proton Torpedoes [see you auntie]

Hey, just a quick post to say I found myself in Vegas for a few days, I was going to post a goodbye round, or enstill a "winner asks the next question" status until I got back. I really should have taken the time :(. My bad. Anyway, I'll be putting up updated scores and post the next round in an hour or two. Trivial Pursuit is back in session. :)

Oh shit, we're all in the middle of our Star Wars Trivial Pursuit game, when who should show up, but Kevin Bacon! I guess that means it's a SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION POINT GRAB MINI-GAME.

Basically it's the same concept behind the six degrees of separation game. Connect Kevin Bacon to the original Star Wars trilogy any way you want. You get 1 POINT PER DEGREE OF SEPARATION, up to six degrees. Everyone can answer, but obviously only one chain per person. Actors can be used by more than one person, just needs to be in a different chain. (this isn't technically a round of course, so no power-ups are activated quite yet)

Time

So I was looking through some questions when I found this:

Who did Darth Vader refer to in noting, "He's no good to me dead"? (Han Solo)

So that's interesting. I know it's hard to maintain quality control for literally thousands of questions. But it was interesting that there was an inaccuracy in the question. It doesn't change the answer or anything, but it's interesting to bring up. In light of this, feel free to challenge a question if you feel the answer is wrong. We'll discuss, and post screen-shots as needed.

Alright. Landmines are placed in the next round after you post that you would like to use one. I use the same random number generator to decide which question the landmine is hidden under. The person who answers the landmine question correctly gets the value of the question subtracted from their score instead of added to it.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

astromech 11 POINTS

Gaffer Tape 5 POINTS

HotRod 5 POINT

Mielr 5 POINTS

Johnny Ringo 3 POINTS/1 Invincibility Star

bkev 3 POINT

see you auntie 3 POINTS

bigbaddaddyvader 1 Landmine

Moth3r 1 Landmine

ROUND 3

Who was the general of the ground troops in Darth Vader's fleet? 1 Photon Torpedo

What mechanical system did R2-D2 fire up on Luke's X-wing before it departed Dagobah? 2 POINTS

What did Luke remove from his X-wing's engine before leaving Dagobah? 3 POINTS

What were Rogue pilots Ten and Eleven sent to help Han and Chewbacca investigate, at Station 38? 4 POINTS

What character did George Lucas say he wanted to be the "exact opposite of what you might expect"? 5 POINTS

What general was portrayed by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade actor Julian Glover? 6 POINTS

Johnny Ringo said:

Wait, Does that mean i can now reply incorrectly to a 6 point question and still get the points? - kinda devious. Alos would one still have to get in 'first' to activate it or say, could I answer an already answered question?

Re: accumulated points, Yeah i was sorta thinking more in terms of 'later on' rather than a rund to round thing.

Will there be ofensive powerups as well, ie: leach some points from another player? - just curious.

What alien language was created by combining African and South Pacific dialects? 2 POINTS

gonna take a stab and say Sullustan. - i Think that's right, That's what nien nunb is right? [sp?]

- not wishing to use the invincibility star at this time ;) - i CAN save it for another round within part II right?

EDIT: just re-read, If I HAVE to use the powerup now then so be it. Please clarify, Thanks.

You can save the item for as long as you wish. I just mean it won't go into effect until I post the next round after you post that you are using it. So if I were to post the next round, and you post that you want to use the item, it goes into effect for the next round of questions, not the round you're currently answering. And you have to be the first to post your answer for that question. If the person who posts their answer first for a question is wrong, then naturally you can answer, and be automatically right no matter what you say.

Hopefully I will also come up with some offensive power-ups, like the Assist Trophies from Super Smash Bros. or something. I may also open up a "store" from round to round so we can put people's old points to good use.

Lightening Round

Whose idea was it to brace the converging trash compactor walls with a metal pole? 1 Landmine

HotRod said:Actually, I gave him his first Star Wars figures yesterday. Was a joyous moment. Especially his "wooow" at the creature thing that looks like a dinosaur from Attack of the Clones. A Reek I think, who cares. His face was a picture. Gave him Vader and Luke from the Bespin Duel. Luke has a removable hand. How fucking cool is that! Ha! Espcially as he likes to chop me up with his lightsaber, and keeps chopping my hand off. Is that wrong for a three and a half year old to do that? Still have a whole bag full to give him. Let's see how these go down first.

You know, I really like the new action figures that have come out for the OT. I wish they would have had them when I was a kid. I grew up in the 90s, when Star Wars was still super badass. We had Micromachines, which were tight as hell, and Shadows of the Empire was brand new, but some of the simplified, more character driven action figure collections that have been put out have really impressed me too. When did the Luke with removable hand come out? NO POINTS

Are points from previous rounds to carry over in any way, shape or form? or disregarded once a winner is established for each round? - just curious

Good question, points from previous games are disregarded for the next game, although they are kept on record for later, when the rules start changing.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

astromech 5 POINTS

Gaffer Tape 5 POINTS

Mielr 4 POINTS

Johnny Ringo 3 POINTS/1 Invincibility Star

Bkev 1 POINT

HotRod 1 POINT

Alright, so when you get a special item, you have to post that you want to use it, and it goes into effect for the next round I post. I'll explain what they do when somebody picks them up. Inspiration for special items comes mostly from Star Wars themed items that have shown up throughout the trilogy, although many items familiar to the Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros games will show up to.

The invincibility star makes one impervious to being wrong for one round. It can also protect one from other players items when they are utilized.

ROUND 2

What prevented the Falcon from getting a reading on the second Death Star's deflector shield? 1 Landmine [Moth3r]

What did George Lucas say he came up with to "give the Jedi some kind of individuality"? 1 POINT [mielr]

What alien language was created by combining African and South Pacific dialects? 2 POINTS [bkev]

What part of a spaceship do mynocks like to munch? 3 POINTS [see you auntie]

Who ordered the shield doors of the Rebels' Hoth base closed for the night? 4 POINTS [HotRod]

What is another name for the spearlike "gaffi stick" the Sand People wield? 6 POINTS [astromech]

Alright, bad-ass round one of part two of the Star Wars Original Trilogy Trivial Pursuit Challenge is about to commence. There will be some different concepts we're going to try out to make things a little more interesting, I'm mostly just winging it as I go along, so it should make for some frustrating fun.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

If you're looking for a high def motion camera that's considerably cheap, you could try the Speed HD7Z. It does up to 720p, which should work pretty well for your edit. They're on ebay and other sites for around $200-500. I'm not sure why they are so cheap, while having high def capability (I'm sure if I knew my digital camcorders better, I could spot something in the specs that points to the reason--maybe it's the fact it's a completely off-brand name camera). Anyway, after some more research, I might pick it up myself, so if you still need some cloud city background elements in mid to late september, I can get together some shots for you.

The Blue Turtle Shell? I wasn't sure where I was going with that. I just wanted to give Gaffer Tape the full Mario Kart treatment. hehe.

Two? (Two pushed it down the hall, but only one actually pushed him up the ship's ramp- the question isn't really specific enough).

Good point. It is two. I think it would have said "into Boba Fett's ship" if they were talking about the ramp scene. Well done. Astromech, Chewbacca's game piece was yellow.

Yes, I'm competitive and a sore loser!! Ha

Well, I wish I could say I was sorry and actually mean it, but... ^_~

But anyway, HotRod's right. It does seem to me like the midrange point questions actually seem quite a bit harder than the high point questions most of the time. You said that point values are totally random?

Well, I get 6 random number values, then assign them to questions based on how hard I personally feel they are. I really would not in a million years have thought that Jawas sleep in their sandcrawlers. It's something that never came up in the movie and never heard of before. It's somewhat a matter of opinion I suppose. I do my best to organize by general obscurity. That's why they call it trivial pursuit, it's either an easy get, or you're completely stumped.

Hm, Moth3r got the line the way it was actually said, but hot rod, in his answer, still demonstrated knowledge that the line was Darth Vader's first. I'll split it betwixt the both of you, rounded up to the next point.

Alright, we're going to make this a little tougher, Gaffer Tape. While you maintain your dominating lead, you'll only receive half the credit for a correct answer. This point cap is lifted the minute anybody is about to overcome you for first place unless I relieve the cap, so you can't lose your lead without me lifting the point cap. Moth3r, if you'd like to continue playing, you get double points for every question you answer correctly until you're about to overcome for second to last place.

Oswalt is my all time favorite comedian. I don't know if this has been posted before, but he does an amazing impression of Mr. Lucas. Interesting that Oswalt wants to go back to 1993, when the Definitive Collection was just released. This clip is from Werewolves and Lollipops, which--like everything else he does--is amazing.

We wanted a prequel trilogy, we got a bunch of rock salt.

I finally found some questions that are proving to be a little tough. Chewbacca's game piece (I suppose they're referring to the one involved in the skirmish featured in the close-up) was yellow. The greenish-blue one is R2's. It is true that the shield generator was located on the opposite side of the ridge, but the question refers to C3P0's conversation with the Ewoks about the "secret entrance" to the shield generator. The largest creature in the original Star Wars trilogy was the massive space slug.
