I'd hate to toss an entire HD shot over an artificial looking saber.  But at the same time I don't want to introduce new elements like rotoscoping.  I'll tell you what I might be able to do.  I might be able to chroma key out the 2004 saber, with the GOUT underneath it, and see if the true saber will show through the keyed out area.  That's what I did for one shot where Obiwan's saber is purple.  Keyed out the purple, and got a nice looking saber underneath.  I'll see what I can do.

And I thought I was almost done [sad face].

PaulisDead2221: Among the many SE scenes in the 2004 DVD set that are being replaced with the unaltered 2006 GOUT DVD scenes, is the duel between Obi-Wan and Vader on the Death Star, where Lucas messed with the appearance of the lightsabers to be like the prequels in the 2004 SE, on that list to be replaced with the original unaltered scene? :)

I'm trying to figure out what they changed with the lightsabers.  They don't appear to be fixed or prequelized in any way I can see.  What do you mean?  I've reworked a couple shots to make sure their lightsabers remained mistakenly unlit, as they did in a couple of shots pre-SE.

I've finally managed to get a hold of the 5.1 laserdisc rip from the 1997 special edition.  I'm going with Moth3r's idea to use Belbucas' preserved theatrical stereo mix, decoded, to tempur the 1997 mix to the original theatrical cut.  Right now, I'm in the process of syncing it the GOUT.  Does anyone know of a way to parse a dolby surround stereo track into its decoded surround channels?  I need to separate the stereo track into its individual waves.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

astromech 31 POINTS/1 Assist Trophy/1 Rancor with Rancor Pit

HotRod 23 POINTS

bigbaddaddyvader 21 POINTS/2 Proton Torpedoes/1 Landmine

see you auntie 16 POINTS/1 Proton Torpedoes

Johnny Ringo 10 POINTS

Mielr 10 POINTS/1 Sarlaac with Sarlaac Pit

Moth3r 4 POINTS/1 Proton Torpedo

Gaffer Tape 4 POINTS

bkev 1 POINT

People lay down their cards, man that sucked.  Astromech gains two points, but bigbaddaddyvader takes a pounding worth two points, and everyone else loses a point.  Although Mielr gets away the luckiest, playing the cards right, Mielr manages to win a very special pet, a Sarlaac with Sarlaac Pit.  It functions mostly the same as a Rancor with Rancor pit, with a skiff being placed underneath a question to take an unlucky correct answer to face off against the Almighty Sarlaac.  Whether it spells certain doom for a player or not depends on the trivial knowledge of the Star Wars universe that player possesses.

ROUND 8

What Rebel leader told Han Solo, "A death mark's not an easy thing to live with"? 1 POINT [see you auntie]

What did Han do to restart the systems on the Falcon during the evacuation from Hoth? 2 POINTS [Mielr]

What gruesome-looking creatures did Chewbacca tussle with to salvage C-3PO's body parts? 3 POINTS [Johnny Ringo]

What prevents atmosphere in a hangar bay from escaping into space? 4 POINTS [HotRod]

What contrivance did the Imperials use to torture Chewbacca in Cloud City? 5 POINTS [bigbaddaddyvader]

How many laser blasts hit the Millennium Falcon as it lifted off from Cloud City? 6 POINTS [astromech]

There's a large explosion, and see you auntie is thrown back in terror as a correct answer yields nothing but a 3 POINT shrapnel to the face.  Frustrated and scared, see you auntie fires a proton torpedo across the room, and obliterates another point oppurtunity.  Bigbaddaddyvader tosses out another assist trophy.  The shattering glass befalls to the glowing brilliance inside, and emerging from its purgatorial depths is:

A sabaac card.  Those will remember their trivial Star Wars history, will remember that Han Solo won the famous Millenium Falcon in a game of sabaac with Lando Calrissian.  This isn't good at all.  This will now greatly alter the next round.  Each question is now left completely to chance.  No point values are given up front, and it is randomly decided whether or not a question's point value will yield points, or take them away, the only person immune to a subtraction to points is the owner of the assist trophy, bigbaddaddyvader, although he too must take a chance on what questions are which in terms of point values.  Don't worry though, play your cards right, and feel the trivial force, and you just might win something very special.

STAR WARS TRIVIAL PURSUIT SABAAC TOURNAMENT

[question exploded]

Who was the first to board the Falcon during the evacuation of Hoth? [bigbaddaddyvader]

What shape is a blaster's stun bolt? [astromech]

What type of vehicle boasts eight tank treads? [see you auntie]

What western state was Return of the Jedi's Sarlacc battle filmed in? [mielr]

Yes, the correct answer to the Darth Vader lightsaber ignition question was twice, and the one point from the above correct answer got jacked by the Jawa.  This game is a fleeting mistress :(.

Here, have two assist trophies, as long as you promise to use them before the next round :).

PS didn't I have 25 points at the end of the last round...I've lost two for answering the lightning round - or was it someone's torpedo?

PPS just realised...damn those jawas!! filthy scavengers - I can't abide them!

Yeah, it was the Jawa.  At least you've still got the Rancor.

Now the Rancor Pit, that's a special little pet.  When activated, a trap-door is placed underneath a question randomly, much in the same way a landmine is.  An unlucky correct answerer plunges into the lair of the beast.  But don't be afraid, time in the Rancor pit can be a point oppurtunity for those who are truly strong with the trivial force, but it spells certain doom for those with simple delusions of grandeur.

SCOREBOARD [PART II] (UPDATED AT BEGINNING OF EACH ROUND):

astromech 23 POINTS/1 Assist Trophy/1 Rancor with Rancor Pit

see you auntie 20 POINTS/2 Proton Torpedoes

bigbaddaddyvader 19 POINTS/2 Proton Torpedoes/1 Landmine/1 Assist Trophy

HotRod 19 POINT

Johnny Ringo 10 POINTS

Mielr 8 POINTS

Moth3r 4 POINTS/1 Proton Torpedo

Gaffer Tape 4 POINTS

bkev 1 POINT

Tensions are getting high, Moth3r is sneaking around underneath the question pool, no telling what he's rigging up for unfortunate correct answers.  HotRod turns off his targeting computer and fires a proton right into the cluster of questions, destroying a point opportunity.  Bigbaddaddyvader tosses his assist trophy onto the ground, the glass shatters to reveal a dirty filthy:

A Jawa, disgusting creatures.  The Jawa is offering a whopping 8 POINTS to bigbaddaddyvader.  No telling where the points have come from though, they could be stolen.  No matter, just take those points up to Anchorhead and have their memories erased.  That'll be the end of it, they belong to you now.

ROUND 7

[question destroyed]

What pilot was identified as Red Leader during the second Death Star battle? 2 POINTS [mielr]

What items of questionable taste hung from the ceiling of the Falcon's cockpit? 3 POINTS [see you auntie]

How many prongs does a stormtrooper's grappling hook boast? 4 POINTS [bigbaddaddyvader]

How many stormtroopers bit the dust falling down the Death Star's bridge chasm? 5 POINTS [HotRod]

What was the first ship in the Rebel fleet to emerge from hyperspace at Endor? 6 POINTS [astromech]

So once again just to be clear-what do proton torpedoes and assist trophies do?

Proton torpedoes destroy a question and make it unanswerable for a round.  Assist trophies are a mystery, check the link I provided, which explains what they do in Super Smash Bros.  Assist trophies will basically be a familiar famous Star Wars character coming in to destroy the other players for you.

Mielr 8 POINTS

bigbaddaddyvader 11 POINTS/2 Proton Torpedoes/1 Landmine

A shot fires across the room, and hits astromech right in the dome.  A screaming whistle is all that escapes his shattered remains.  Near mortally wounded, he retreats to the corner where it appears he'll be incapacitated for one round.

Who gave Han the bad news that the code had been changed at the Endor bunker? 2 POINTS [Johnny Ringo]

What type of vessels scraped into each other while trying to cut off the more maneuverable Falcon? 1 Assist Trophy [bigbaddaddyvader]

How many hops did Chewbacca's holoboardgame piece move forward before its unfortunate capture? 4 POINTS [see you auntie]

What center on the second Death Star confirmed code clearances? 3 POINTS [HotRod]

i apologise in advance for my crap upload speed :(

I'll join you as a seed. I was putting a torrent together when I saw this. However, I also have crap upload speed.

**EDIT** And now the real reason I checked back in this thread... For what it's worth, ImgBurn didn't give a good copy of the disc for this. I am the proud owner of a fairly expensive coaster. Nero6 seems to have worked fine, though.

You must have done something wrong because Imgburn was used to create the Iso file (you did select the .mds file when burning didn't you?). I have burned 2 copies so far from the image and i had no problems.

yeh the nfo was posted to a.b.starwars with the fileset. it has all the information i would like put with the torrent, if possible (the info on demonoid doesn't mention that the main audio is the laserdisc 5.1 mix, and not the crap 2004 mix, and that there are english and dutch subtitles too)

Were there any distinctive changes made to the laserdisc track?, or was it simply synced up to the 2004 video?

You're right, HotRod, hehe.  Things are getting a little jumbled.  It's okay, just keep answering questions when you can.  Since only astromech and bkev made point bets, this is a round just for them.  Score update, and next round will follow.

LAS VEGAS ROUND WAGERS

astromech 5 POINTS

bkev 2 POINTS

First one to answer this question gets the points they wagered, the other loses the points.

Who was the only Rebel admiral identified on-screen? [astromech]

Too good you guys, lolz.

Okay, so a blaster rifle can be used against any player.  It hinders them from answering a question for one round.  An assist trophy can be any number of things, and must be activated before you find out exactly what it does.

Special Las Vegas Round coming up before Round 5.  No powerups or items can be used for the Las Vegas Round, but if you'd like to participate, put a wager down.  Anything between one and all your points.  People who don't want to gamble their points can sit it out.
