Lucasfilm Animation Singapore
Time
Now, what I'd love to see, is Lucas take on the oft neglected art that is Supermarionation! Matt Stone and Trey Parker have recently revived the lost art with their new film Team America: World Police, but what we really need is a genius of the caliber of George Lucas in order to truly realize the potential of the medium

Maybe he can CG out the puppet strings, maybe replace the puppets with CG characters, oh baby, I can feel the magic already

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
You can find Rikters Covers way back on the 2nd or 3rd page of this thread I think, they're somewhere on this thread anyways, you'll find 'em if you look. I'm also into very stark, minimalist covers too, pure black, white star wars definitive logo, no pictures, very classy. Not so many people dig that the way I do, so I made this cover instead

I am working ona clone war cover right now. The problem there is, the AOTC one sheet is absolute ass. Could Obi-Wan look any gayer? The real challenge though is finding high res images. I was lucky for the last cover in that I had that sweet collectors booklet they were selling when TPM first came out, so I had a text free high res scan of the TPM poster, and the TPM logo. The internet still caters to those without bandwidth, so there's not a lot of places to find really good high res images.

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
People will gravitate to whichever cover suits their particular tastes. I like Rikter's covers, they're really well done, but I'm not a big fan of Photo Montage covers that have become the standard for movie covers recently. I almost always prefer the movie posters, be it the teaser posters, the official one sheet, or what have you. For balance, I wanted to do that, but I also am not a huge fan of the TPM one sheet. I've always liked the ROTJ teaser poster of the single lightsaber held aloft, so I decided to see if they'd merge successfully, and they did. Then there's the back of the cover. Some people like to have descriptions not only of the film, but of what went into it, or what people said aboiut it. My personal preference is that less is more. A brief synopsis of the film, without the extraneous information weighing things done is my style. Hence, with my custom Star Wars covers, I always go with the opening crawl as the description on the back.

To my mind, all the custom covers have merits of their own, so it all comes down to what will fit best with your own sensibilities. Lots of people want ink-savers, I prefer black.

What would be cool is if someone had the space to host all of the cover designs, just set up a Star Wars custom cover depot.

Star Wars Trilogy changes
Time
It's interesting how much further they were able to clean up the print from the initial restoration effort of the '97 special editions. The new Jabba sure does look infinitely better than the '97 version, though I'd still prefer losing him entirely, I found his presence in the trilogy more effective when he was behind the scenes right until the very end. Maybe that's just me. The extension of the detention corridor, I have no problem with. In fact, that's the kind of addition I wish Lucas would focus on, purely cosmetic. Takes nothing away from the original plot or acting. The same kind of changes were made in 97 to cloud city, to the benefit of the film in my opinion, and that's the kind of revision I can accept without complaint.

hyperspace help
Time
Hey Jimmy Jimmy. Listen, you're honestly not missing a blessed thing by not having hyperspace. In fact, you'd be getting better information just hanging around for a week on the countless message boards revolving around star wars than you would with a lifetime subscription to Hyperspace. It truly is a money grab of the highest calibur. That's not to say there isn't exclusive content, I'm just saying, said content isn't worth the money, it's all fluff, no substance. Kind of like Cotton Candy, except way more expensive.

Episodes 7,8,9?
Time
Honestly, if the Heir to the Empire trilogy became episodes 7-9, I'd be a very happy star wars fan. One of the problems with the PT, for me at least, is the lack of a really strong villain. Sidious is a shadowy presence, not a strong villain lead. Darth Maul, while awesome, didn't have enough substance, and was killed far too quickly. Everything about Count Dooku left me cold, no menace or sense of threat inherent in that old man. Where as the OT had Darth Vader, and he was the focal point and personification of all the forces set against our heroes. And he was good at it. IF 7-9 were to be made, the first thing I'd want, is a really strong villain. Grand Admiral Thrawn is that in spades. This is all just my feelings on it of course.

Episodes 7,8,9?
Time
I've come to the conclusion that Lucas has a memory disorder. It's the only thing that seems to me to explain his constantly shifting stories. 12 films, 9 films, 6 films, it was always going to be six films, 9 films was a rumour, I never said there'd be 9, I've been misquoted, I have Greedo shooting first so Han doesn't kill him in cold blood, Greedo was always meant to shoot first and it just got left out of the film through a mistake in editing. it goes on and on.

I seriously believe that Lucas doesn't realize what he's doing. He seriously believes everything he says. Well, here's hoping he gets his marbles back, that'd be nice.

Star Wars Episode III (spoilers) - a general discussion thread
Time
Sounds like they're completely throwing out all of the back history of the wookies as established in the EU. Wookies leading the troops? They go from that, to slaves of the Empire? Je ne comprende pas. I'm all for wookies, but it seems to me that, once again, George is taking an element of the OT, and using it poorly in the PT. And digital wookies? is the wookie costume so difficult? George is just getting lazy now.

MagnoliaFan Edition Episode III-VI Titles
Time
I dunno, supposedly the Jedi erradicated the sith way back, and Maul does talk about the sith having their revenge on the Jedi in episode 1. Granted, a lot of the history between the sith and the jedi is only barely alluded to in the actual films, so it's understandable that people might not understand it. Still, I think revenge is a very fitting title, as the eradication of the Jedi will be the Sith's revenge for the Jedi having done the same to them a millinea ago. As for Revenge vs Return of the Jedi, I still gotta side with Gl on this one. Jedi don't take revenge, revenge is inherntly dark side. and Return can mean so many things in that film. The return of Luke Skywalker, as a Jedi. The return of Anakin from the darkside back to being a Jedi. The return of the Jedi to the galaxy (Luke being the first of the new Jedi). Personaly, I prefer Return over Revenge. I think Revenge of the Sith is a perfect compliment to Reurn of the Jedi, title wise.

Other SW DVD releases- expected by year's end
Time
I just hope that if they release Ewoks and Droids that tey'll be in their original form. A couple years ago they released a a video each for Droids and Ewoks, and they had new music and foley. It was awful. I have no idea why they felt the need to redub all the music and sound effects, but it was a bad idea. Not to mention the droid theme song ruled, it was the whole reason I bought the tape to begin with
