STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Wonderful work ady. Really, watching your edit was the most fun I've had it years. That said, I do have some (hopefully) constructive criticism.

I have to say, that I think I agree with Max_Rebo. I can't see how Ponda Baba's arm ended up on the floor at all. I think a major reason why my mind is led to this conclusion is because in the brief aftermath of the arm cutting (before the music returns), a human voice (that sounds very much like Evazan IMO) can be heard groaning in terrible pain. No such grunting alien voice can be heard. In earnest, I think the shot should be changed to be the good doctor's arm.

Now I mean this with no disrespect, but I think you may have overdone it a tad (just a tad) with the desaturating of things in general. Am I the only one who thinks this? All I'm saying is that I think the colors lacked definition at times.

I would also like to express how much I enjoyed the new sound mix, BRILLIANT! I think that your sound work is responsible for many of my goose-bump moments. I loved the use of the emperor's theme (perfect!), and I was just so flat out impressed with the new Obi/Vader duel.

Well done ady, well done!

I haven't done that much work actually. When I posted that, I thought I was kinda done (already sent it to ady and such). I fixed the error of it saying Ep VI though, I also edited the description a bit (though I guess that doesn't matter because no one could read it to begin with). I guess I'll go over your previous suggestions though (I didn't have time before, sorry). Any additional suggestions?

Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)
Time
GM

This might be a silly suggestion, but for stuff like the Arena Battle, which is mostly tracked, could you piece it together from scratch using the tracks from Episode I (and that bit from ROTJ/whatever other material was used), and by using the movie as a guideline. This way there would be no sfx or dialogue. Or has not all the tracked music in the battle been released in it's original form?

Should have General Grevious been a reconstructed Darth Maul?
Time
When I first heard about General Grevious, I thought that's exactly what the character was going to be. To sort of tie the first and third episodes together and to fore shadow the Anakin/Vader character.

I thought the exact same thing, really. If it can be pulled off professionally, I think its a good idea, but nothing should suffer too much because of it (like the pacing/flow of a scene, or a good piece of music etc.).

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
I think that (for the most part) Episode III was a big improvement in these areas though. There weren't nearly as many major edits that messed up the music. And as much as I hate to say it, I do prefer the war drums during the opening star destroyer shot to what was originally scored. I also love hearing the Arena cue when Anakin enters the Jedi Temple, I think it worked extremely well. I think that Lucas knew (to some extent anyway), that something had to change after AOTC. Williams probably protested about what was done to his score on Episode II. And Ben Burtt got another editor to watch his back, so to speak. But anyway, enough off topic for me.

Info Wanted: Has anyone done a 'Mulholland Drive' TV Pilot Preservation..? (Released)
Time
The article that cashiers brought up is pretty interesting, if the differences are as great as the article says then it would be wonderful to have the pilot in the best quality possible. If no one wants to do a "preservation", it would be great if someone could make a digital copy of the pilot version to upload as a torrent or something. I remember reading somewhere that VHS copies have been floating around for quite a while, there has to be someone around with a copy and the means to transfer it, maybe? Anyone?

Blade Runner: The Version You've Never Seen Before (Update: Beta Released)
Time
This is great. Just a couple minor suggestions.

It would be cool if you included the shots that UA mentioned (Roy putting the live end in his mouth), and that shot of the woman in the bath would be really neat too.

The other thing I have to say is that I really don't think you should use the Goldsmith temp track for the end fight. I know its really different, but it takes me out of the movie, it just doesn't work as well as the Vangelis score. Just my opinion though.

Time
That's too bad.

Deleted Magic was my first venture into this world of fan edits and preservations. Even though I had not yet seen it, I read about deleted magic on T-bone's SWU very long ago. It will always have a special place in my mind. Though that might change when JD finishes Star Wars Begins.

Anyways, I guess thats enough off topic. Thanks for filling me in.

Is there a 2001 reference in AOTC?
Time
I can see the similarity I’ve noticed I before. I wonder if Lacus is paying homage to 2001.

Its very much intentional. As I stated earlier in this thread, the reference is mentioned on the Episode III commentary. Apparently Lucas asked for it to be put there.

bkev, Fang Zei says its in the opening shot (as already mentioned earlier in this thread!?). I think its there, just very small.

A story I heard about 2001 was that they were using Blue Danube to edit to and Kubrick liked it so much that's how it stayed.

The way I remember it was that MGM was getting worried about the film. Kubrick had been working on it since 65, so they needed a progress report so to speak. So Kubrick finished off a rough cut (for MGM) using music from his personal collection, and he liked it so much it stayed. Or something like that.

GoodMusician, I've always wanted to get my hands on that Alex North score. I'd heard that it was officially released, but I can't seem to find it. Do you know if the release is out of production or something?
