I wish I could help, but I have no idea. Mine worked fine so far. I ripped the files with DVDFab Decrypter, and demuxed with Rejig. I had no problems.

just another technical question:

Did you use ImgBurn to create the ISO-file?

If so, did you have to specify a layerbreak-point in ImgBurn? When I want to create an image of a normal DVD, I have to specify where the layerbreak shall be but when I create a image as UDF ImgBurn doesn't ask for the layerbreak-point.

I deleted your image after burning and I'd like to create a new image...

I watched your AVCHD-episode IV last night and I'm really impressed about this. Normally I prefer the unaltered movies but this HD picture is really great. I saw things in this movie I've never seen before. Can't wait to see ESB AVCHD.

Try this:

Remove all the plugins in you Avisynth-folder and replace them with the .dll's from here.

Then insert the DGDecode.dll from your DGMPGDec-folder.

Maybe this helps.

I just watched the cantina-scene encoded with the actual script, this looks really superior compared to the encodings with the older script. Good work, g-force.

I wanted to create a DVD with selectable subtitles. So when I demux with PGCDemux I get the subtitles and can remux them with the audiotracks and the new encoded video in Rejig.

You could probably demux the audio with DGMPGdec. I haven't tried it so I don't recommend it.  What I describe here is the way how I did my encodings and I hope this guide helps the people who have no experience in doing encodings to get their watchable GOUT. Any suggestions for easier ways to do this encodings are most welcome here.

@Oldschooljedi: it would be a good idea to add the "Force Film" field operation step into your guide.

 

I read earlier in this threat, that "Force Film" should be selected. But I was a littlebit confused about that as I'm using the PAL-DVD's.

When I run DGIndex with the PAL-DVD I get this message:

"It is almost wrong to run Force Film on an MPEG 1 stream, or a stream with a framerate other than 29.970. Your stream is MPEG 2 and has a frame rate of 25.000. Do you want to do it anyway?"

So I used DGIndex without changing anything there and everything worked fine.

This was the reason, I decided not to add this step to this guide. Now I've learned that this is very impossible for encoding the NTSC-DVD's and I will add this step into this guide.

I'm not sure, but as I can remember someone here had ffdshow installed and the same problem. Do you have installed this on your pc?

Some scenes on the original DVD look like they are interlaced, although the movie is progressive. Chapter 5 of the original DVD is typical for this (look at the eyes of the left stormtrooper). This cannot be removed. There are several other scenes, that have this problem, like the stormtrooper in the desert who says: "Look sir, droids!"

I'm afraid, I have no idea at the moment.

When I calculated it for my DVD I got average (kb/s) "8680" and maximum (kb/s) "9224".

But I wanted the DVD with all the features that the original GOUT have (incl. Lego trailer etc.).

If you want to make a DVD without extras let the encoding run and see what you will get.

An average bitrate with 7361 kb/s is not that bad.

Where did you get this "7361" from? If it is a message from your encoder while encoding, this should be ok.

I assume, you want to make a DL DVD?

1. How much audiostreams do you want on your DVD?

2.How high is the bitrate for every audiostream?

3. Do you want to have the original menu on your DVD?

4. Do you make a DVD with selectable subtitles or hard encoded subtitles?

There were also a few artifacts later when Han says goodbye to Leia. These looked like the one fixed in the Vader-scene.

You made a real time consuming work on this and as negative1 said, this is only visible less than one second so I'm not sure if it is worth fixing a few miniartifacs when the rest looks awesome...

G-force, would it be reasonable, to change the script for every artifact, I mean when the script is changed for this scene, wouldn't we get some artifacts at other scenes???

I haven't tried the upscale-script yet. At the moment I'm encoding the GOUT with the g-force script.

The encoding of one movie takes several days, so the next few weeks I have no capacity for other encodings.

The whole original video looks a littlebit darker than the processed video,  The original "Vader-scene" looks darker too, I thought you meant that.
