Is this project ever going to see the light of day?

Any word on a DrDre color corrected version on the DNR release?

The EE Elvish subs are hardcoded in the R1 BD’s, but in here in Europe they’re definitely soft.

So basically you’re looking to convert PAL 24fps to 29.97?

I’d change the title of this thread to reflect what you actually are looking to do, and/or maybe ask a how to do this in the technical questions thread?

I finally got a chance to watch this last night, and I have to say…absolutely stellar job by 44rh1n. One of the best, and most needed, fan restorations I’ve ever seen. Given how important, and beloved, this film is, and how egregious the green tint which plagues the EE BD, I’m frankly surprised this release has not gotten more attention here.

The colours, as near as I can tell, are a near perfect match for the EE DVD and TE BD. And anyone who’s familiar with the TE BD know its problems with edge enhancement, but 44rn1n has done an amazing job of ameliorating that…as least as I believe is possible with this release. In addition to the colours being what they should be be, the muddiness and lack of definition in the extended scenes has been greatly improved.

Really top notch all around, including the little details…including all the commentary tracks, removing any black screen between the disc transition, no cropping, etc. A job very well done and highly recommended.

44rh1n, just a couple questions…as you know, in addition to the significant additional scenes and alterations in the EE, there are many minor, almost unnoticeable changes from the TE…sometimes something a little as lingering for half a second at the end of a shot. How did you handle these?

Also, now that you have a cap of the Netflix TE (which I’ve watched as is an improvement I agree), any plans to upgrade this release anytime soon?

Yeah. A lot of those changes listed in the Wikia sound like grappling hook stuff to me.

So I assume we can and should replace the existing 5.1 mix on DeD 2.7 with this one?

I’m sure this is buried in a thread somewhere, but can someone tell me how the isolated scores for the Harmy’s editions were created?

Have you considered combining Deathly Hallows into one film?

I’ve been looking for something like this in high quality.

I think via a Google search you’d find a ton of commercial products that would do it. But why just not start a thread asking how to rip Hulu? There’s a LOT of technical expertise on this site, and Hulu gets ripped all the time.

Might get more hits than something about Futurama, which (sadly) might get limited eyeballs due to lack of interest.

OK, but then why not just rip the episodes from Hulu and be done with it? Why would you need to upscale the DVD’s, etc?

I have to say, I’m not sure I see the point, since the 22 minute episodes are available in HD on Hulu anyway (or is the Hulu just SD?).

Got it. So would you just put the Hulu versions on BD as they exist, or try to edit some of the snipped bits from the movies back in?

They’re available in HD for digital download (on iTunes for example).

Any luck with the Hulu?

Pretty sure all the movies are available in HD.

The DVD versions are four 90-minute long movies. The TV/Hulu versions are sixteen 22-minute long episodes, which are edited differently, with some jokes cut, some added, and new opening credits “tagline” jokes that aren’t in the DVD versions (since they have one opening credit sequence for each film, rather than four for each when they were edited into episodes for syndication).

I haven’t seen all of the episodic versions, so I don’t know what all is different in detail.

The introduction is moved to the beginning and instead of the whole cast, only Zoidberg is still seen in a character shot. The Ambulance is also removed.
There is now a sponsor by Torgo’s Executive Powder prior to the first commercial break.
Various “minor” bits of scenes, usually with dialogue, are removed and some music is adjusted to fit the re-edit:
There is less lingering on the nudists at the beach.
The scene that first shows the “Box” executives is shortened to less than a second.
Leela isn’t seen giving her credit card number to save pygmy rhinos.
West Johnson Porniversity’s home page isn’t seen, and most of Bender’s dialogue about porn is cut.
Zoidberg says less about his supposed royal relative.
Bender doesn’t announce that he’ll handle Nudar when he shows that Planet Express is now his.
There is less lingering on the office set up in the hangar.
Lars’ estimate on Hermes’ body taking up to a year to fix is gone.
Nudar doesn’t ask Farnsworth to “do more things”.
Amy doesn’t call Nibbler adorable.
The owl’s flight is slightly slower than it is on the DVD.

It’s certainly possible to capture Hulu, that’s not an issue. I’ve checked, and it appears Hulu does indeed have the episode length versions of the movies (They’re titled as Bender’s Big Score, Part 1, Part 2, etc).

haha I would be up for that! Fellowship of the Ring is my favourite fantasy film of all time and in my top three films of all time.

That was a really tough regrade though, both in terms of colour and image dynamics, wouldn’t want to have to start on that one from scratch.

Clearly the only way to settle this issue is for both DrDre and KK650 to do a new regrade of the movie that needs it most, The Fellowship of the Ring BD EE, from scratch. He who removes the green tint and restores this film to its genuine beautiful colour palette will be the true King of The Regrade.

Matching the Theatrical Edition blu-ray or Extended Edition DVD would unfortunately require a shot by shot regrade. I believe you’re right about there being a slight blue tint on the Fellowship of the Ring release I put up on Myspleen, I updated the regrade settings a number of months ago but I just hadn’t gotten round to encoding it yet. Thanks for reminding me! I should definately have the new regrade of Fellowship of the Ring done soon.

Oh I’d love to see that! Like I said, your FOTR is pretty much the version I watch now, so any upgrades would be most welcome.
