Whaaaa?
Whaaaa?
Now that would be really cool!
The bombastic music was written to weave through the lines about the damaged Oscillator. Putting that over the Snoke scene makes some parts difficult to understand over the music, since the quiet moments do not sync to the dialogue. This is what ultimately disqualifies it for me, even though it’s a better thematic match.
Maybe someone could try and weave the audio and video together in a way that they compliment each other.
Yeah, that was really odd.
Thanks for the game rips, btw. Hux is more of a character there than in the movie!
Yeah, there’s a literal ton of information that we’re not aware of. For example, Trump’s tax returns, which he is deathly afraid to make public for some reason. Trump has a long history of shady real estate deals with Russian oligarchs, for another. Of course there’s the obstruction of justice charge, which in a normal presidency would be enough to topple him all by itself. And unless Trump is even more stupid than we have been led to believe, he would not have risked obstruction of justice unless he did do something pretty damn illegal.
Fishmanlee has provided the LEGO TFA game sound effects, which includes quite a few new lines of dialogue by the characters. I decided to make another attempt at a Hux line, and it may be an improvement over the ‘wreckage’ line from before:

JEDIT: Maybe the line should begin with a good old “Supreme Leader…”
I just finished a marathon of the OT plus TFA with some friends, and I watched the PT and R1 last week, so I am extremely sure about my ranking right now.
SW = ESB > TFA > ROTJ > R1 > TPM > AOTC = ROTS
This is my ranking as well, except that ROTS > AOTC.
If anything I’d say we should be looking for ways to trim the scene down so it doesn’t feel like it wasn’t envisioned as part of the climax (which the Snoke music makes plainly obvious, I feel).
That’s the real trick, though. This is actually the same problem I have with the Ewok celebration which ends ROTJ. The old music fit the scene but wasn’t ‘epic’ enough for that place in the film, whereas the new music fits that place but doesn’t fit the scene. The problem is the scene - it just doesn’t belong.
Is there any hope of still going the restructure angle?
It doesn’t look like there’s a good way to use the preexisting music without it either drowning out the dialogue or being so quiet that the effect is lost.
I think the least noticeable edit would be to just use the Snoke theme and imagine that they’ve finished talking about the Republic.

I still think there should be a pause before he begins talking. The music also drowns out the dialogue a bit. I’ll play around with it later and see what I can do.

And so the Republicans are tied to a massively unpopular ‘legislative victory’. Gotta love the tone of the article by the end:
"The bill now theoretically will head to a conference committee to mesh it with the House bill. Or the House will just try to save time by passing the Senate bill.
Neither bill is popular.
They don’t care."
Reminded me of this:

Yet more reason that my page 1 suggestion should be implemented:
While we need to do a better job at directing new members towards important information (see here for my suggestion), there will still be the problem of people unwilling/unable to burn the blu-rays and create custom sets. For those people, buying these things may be the only way they get their hands on them. And that’s a big problem.
Any solution not involving money would be quite a hassle, and the best thing I can think of is a system wherein the party requesting the blu-ray would be required to purchase their own blank blu-ray discs and send them in a package containing their copy of the relevant 2011 Blu-ray discs (as proof of purchase) and enough postage for sending it all back.
Mark’s Down On Your Syntax said:
So.
Can a fella connect a standard blu ray player to a laptop as a mock “external drive” so he might, with the help of software, rip his discs? Or would this fella be better off purchasing an actual external drive? And if he should do that, and keeping in mind he lives in the U.K., what should he be looking for? How do all the fan editors here rip their sources?! Please and thank you.
I wish I had an answer for you, but I always just used an internal drive for this. But I’ll bump this for your question and for mine:
Kind of a random mystery, but I was digitizing some home movies (VHS-C) and ran across one labeled on the box and on the tape as being from 2003. However when I played it, the content was wrong. At this point I would just assume that the original content had been overwritten, but the new content had a burned-in timecode of FEB 6 2000.
What could be going on here? I have the same sort of tapes that are accurately timecoded up through 1999, so could it be that the camcorder glitched in 2003 and displayed the wrong date, or did my parents screw up both the box and the tape labeling? But if that was the case, I’d have another tape with that missing content but it’s nowhere to be found.
Very mystifying.
What’s AOL?
It was a joke. Downloading Despecialized shouldn’t take a long time with any reasonable internet connection.
What if OT. com had a physical copy request Topic?
So people can ask some one to make them a copy and discuss reimbursement through PMs?I tried downloading the files for the Despecialized trilogy once, it took about 24 hours - for one film. I also downloaded the software used to convert the files, the software did nothing, I gave up.
I still don’t have the Despecialized versions and have never seen them.
I would never pay for a fan edit/restoration. The 2006 OOT non-anamorphic DVD’s will do for now, until these films are shown the proper respect they deserve.
Do you have AOL?
I just hope Disney pulls the plug on EA’s Star Wars license in the future. I’d love to see a new KOTOR from BioWare (or a new RPG from CD Projekt Red).
I’ve lost what little hope I had for a KotOR 3. Even with EA owning Bioware, having exclusive rights to the Star Wars license, KotOR being made available on Xbone and KotOR 2 having a massive update a year or two ago on steam. Setting aside that the game series is over a decade old and it’s no longer considered “canon”, what really made me lose hope was EA shutting down Visceral because of the “linear single player” Star Wars game they were developing. I still had hope. After seeing Deus Ex get a sequel after over a decade I had hope for KotOR, but no longer. It’s a shame because it is one of the finest role-playing experiences out there along with Ultima Underground, The Elder Scrolls chapter 2: Daggerfall and Baldur’s Gate.
OMG I need
CD project redBethesda to work on aStar Warsnew Elder Scrolls game that would beamazinglong overdue.
This was one of the most jarring transitions in the theatrical version as well, since Rey doesn’t answer in this scene. The new shot actually provides more of a buffer between scenes, which is why I put it there.
The other option of having it fall out of Hyperspace between Rey saying “Help me with this, quick!” and “What’s going on?” breaks the scene up even more.
I agree that there could be a louder breaking sound just as it exits hyperspace.
I suggested at one point having some sort of sound effect (ANH Star Destroyer flyover?) but I don’t know what SirRidley’s cooking up for that.
Yeah, it’s been really fun contributing to this endeavor the past year and a half, and I’ll probably be missing it come February 😉. Congratulations, Hal!
If V2 could be ready by the 10th I’d be a very happy camper. 😄 (I’m planning a TFA viewing party that night.)
I think that’s a reasonable deadline if we’re planning on getting something together before TLJ. SirRidley, if you don’t think you can get all of the things finished by then I’m sure we could find a stopgap solution for a December 10th release and put the rest in the next version (if it comes to that).
Great! So since Ridley has pretty much completed his incredible work on the Leia deleted scene, and the opening crawl text has been decided on, does that only leave Ridley’s Maz’s castle scene, and possibly this Snoke scene?
From what I’ve gathered we still need Ridley’s exported crawl and Maz’s castle.
Apart from that the Snoke scene of course, but other than that I can’t think of anything super essential that’s still MIA.
It would be good to have a hard deadline for V2, if only because some people might like to make plans to see this before TLJ 😉
As stated in my first post, this edit will be reducing the Rathtar action, but not removing it entirely. It wouldn’t make much sense for Han to abandon his much larger spaceship if he was not forced to escape, and this scene also shows Rey making a very human mistake (“Oh no…wrong fuses”).
It’s not really the purpose of the edit to add or remove character moments unrelated to the Starkiller Restructure, but I always read this exchange as Finn almost ready to admit that he wasn’t a part of the Resistance, at least until they were distracted and he changed his mind.
