Just downloaded it and I’m scanning through.
Was there a reason that the updated X-wing approach shot wasn’t used?

the biggest franchise of the last 100 years is probably McDonald’s.
Every post is so dense, there’s so much going on.
I’d have Leia die in the bridge explosion and remove her from the rest of the film. I’d remove Yoda. I’d have Luke burn the tree. Sensing Leia’s death would prompt Luke to confront Ren.
That’s dark, man.
Let’s say I have the SE DVDs, but not the Blu-Ray. Am I still eligible to watch Harmy’s DE? It’s an official release, but not the source.
Nope.
If they release a 4K version this year, will we all need to buy that in order to continue to have the DEs?
Yeah, the biggest problem with this film is lack of breathing room.
Alternate Last Jedi poster: (TLJ spoilers)
Either way the wiping the shoulder of dust doesn’t carry the tone.

Unlimited power?
He’s looking at the spaceship parked above him.
Yes, first-world problems and major nerd nitpicking. Sue me.
Actually, based on this forum, the level of nitpicking was minor at most.
You mean the visible from everywhere superweapon superbeam that makes planets go boom? The worst bit of that doesn’t exist anymore thanks to Restructured, and for the rest…

Besides, Starkiller was a one-off dumb thing. Hyperdrives as weapons hurt my brain the same way the implications of the shield/lasgun interaction does in Dune.
I read it as more metaphorical, like the guilt would never leave.
Excellent!
BTW, for anyone who feels compelled after watching this edit, may I suggest leaving a review on Fanedit.org? There are no reviews for version 2 as of yet.

then it can die.
Kill it, if you have to. 😉
I’m sorry to hear this. What is it with video editors and constant crashes? I have to use the 2014 version of Premiere Pro because any later version refuses to work with my computer, and bluescreen of death has become a predictable event. Oh, and any serious rending must be done on a borrowed computer because my graphics card is shot. I really need to get my tower upgraded.
Anyway, I hope FCP10 is a better solution for you going forward.
It wouldn’t have been the first time Luke has taken on walkers. 😃
JEDIT: And honestly, it seems like the story of how Luke took down a walker single-handedly would be a more widely-known legend, considering it was witnessed by the Rebellion that would have gone on to rule the galaxy and that it would have had decades to spread and grow.
I see.
The only open hostility towards religion I see comes from Republicans against Muslims.
I’ve seen quite a bit of left wing hostility towards organized religion, so it exists, especially in academia.
Except that the kids playing with the Luke doll are reenacting the Crait “duel” between Luke and Ben.
I can’t recall the dialogue during this scene. Do they reference it specifically? Even if so, it might be interesting to see this beforehand as a foreshadowing of how Luke literally steps into the form of his own legend.
Thank you!
If you are talking about the Stormtroopers in Maz’s basement, I’m not putting that back in since it’s not even a complete scene.
Because I can’t stop thinking about the scene:

One theory is that it takes more space for a ship to accelerate to light speed than the distance between the Raddus and the Supremacy, so it would only be going a small fraction of the speed of light at impact. Of course, that doesn’t fix the problem of weaponizing the hyperdrive.
So I imagine Hyperspace as a different dimension entirely, and ships accelerate along a non-Euclidean vector causing them to only weakly interfere with normal matter. So, most of the Raddus’s mass was already in Hyperspace at impact, making it much less violent.
A not so gentle restructure.
I just can’t think of anything essential in the Resistance base evacuation and resulting scenes that can’t be more effectively implied through the passage of time.
Also, I think opening the movie on Canto Bight would give it an entirely different feel - there are many movies which open on some scene that doesn’t end up being very consequential, but the point of the scene would merely be to re-establish these characters and their new roles. The expositional nature of the scenes would also function as further set up for the story and the universe instead of a distraction from our main characters.
I really want to play with the idea of moving the scene of the kids playing with the Luke doll, maybe as a way to segue back to our heroes in prison. So after ending the first scenes on Canto Bight with Finn and Rose’s imprisonment and then introducing Luke’s unexpected nihilism, to then cut back to these kids imagining Luke as a hero might be a really effective juxtaposition.
Only III-VI don’t really look alike… so is IX going to be quite different as well ? I certainly hope so.
This is also my hope.
Here’s a crawl which would communicate some of this information:
The FIRST ORDER reigns.
Having destroyed the
peaceful Republic, Supreme
Leader Snoke now deploys
his merciless legions to seize
military control of the galaxy.
Taking command of the
last of the Republic fleet,
General Leia Organa flees
deep into uncharted space,
awaiting the return of
Jedi Master Luke Skywalker
to restore hope to the fight.
Fearing that they cannot evade
the First Order for long, Poe
Dameron has disobeyed orders
and sent two operatives to the
casino city of Canto Bight,
where a shrewd gambler may
hold the key to their escape…
Then have the Casino scenes up until they are jailed, then cut to Luke and Rey, then after some time has passed on the island cut to Leia traveling through hyperspace.
Interestingly, this makes TLJ much more of ESB in reverse, since the Resistance begins in deep space just as the Rebels ended in deep space.
The ships in the Sequel Trilogy make sense for the most part.
The biggest change I wish they’d made was to have a different ‘main ship’ other than the Millennium Falcon. The Prequels had the Naboo cruisers, which fit the style of a more civilized time. The Millennium Falcon fit the style of a used and broken-down universe suffering under an Empire. This trilogy could have used a ship like that, such as a scavenged and modified Imperial Shuttle that Rey would use to search the wrecks. It would have been reminiscent of Luke’s Skyhopper while still making sense in universe.

I imagine something like this but with extra cargo space and some Rebel/Republic designs painted on the wings.
This whole discussion could have been avoided if there was a blinking indicator or something that told Poe that the ship wouldn’t do enough damage to destroy the weapon. Something that changed the conditions so that Finn would still be heroic and Rose would be sensible.
