I don't know the US Live. Is it the same deal as the Studio Canal colorwise?

I did a short check with the german HD-DVD, and I would say it is colorwise same as StudioCanal.

Just uploaded som DVD Caps from the french DVD at my dropbox to check.

(The Program took them at their original "on DVD encoded for anamorphic view" aspect ratio, so they are streched.)

There has been a Columbia Tristar first DVD release in France for T2, before Studio Canal Ultimate Edition. Do you guys know how it looks? Maybe the same one got released in the UK or somewhere else?

I only did a small check, but I thought the colors are quite like the StudioCanal Colors. Maybe I can take some caps this weekend.

Edit: just checked again with the scene in the facility at the end:

Coloring is as on the US Live DVD release.

Info Wanted: Giorgio Moroder presents "Metropolis" - is it any good? (lots of info)

The recent UK Region B release of Metropolis includes not only the 2010 reconstructed version but also Moroder's version. I own it and can vouch for the extras listed:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metropolis-Ultimate-Collectors-SteelBook-Blu-ray/dp/B00Q8LDNFO/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1436361862&sr=1-2&keywords=metropolis+blu+ray

The quality of Moroder's version is, IMHO, first generation VHS of a used silent-era film.  As The Aluminum Falcon pointed out, the elements used in Moroder's version were far inferior.

Oh, thanks for the Info's. Seems to be a very interesting release.

The VCL T2 seems to come from a low-contrast interpositive like the other home video transfers; it just seems to come from a different one with different color. If it had come from a theatrical print element like T1, it would look much different.

What I am curious about is why the carolco logo changes its color tone:

So, last Week I got some of the TeamBlu stuff. (The one who made this possible knows who he is :) )

And so I was able to give "The Neverending Story" (2 Discs), "Jason goes to Hell", "Conan - Extended Cut", "Night of the living Dead [1990]", "Terminator" and "Temrinator 2" a "try".

Long things short: I just love the Work of Team Blu. That's what official Release should be... (okay, personally I would love having a german Audio track, because some people I know just watch movies.. dubbed, and have no interest in watching them in original Audio, so I can enjoy these Blus only with quite a few friends... )

I think it is quite good, that this weekend my next door neighbor is not at home. The 2.0 Track on Terminator 2 is just a monster. I love the complete dynamic of the CDS (if I remember right) track, but the 2.0 Track just blows my Audio Setup into new spheres of power.

Damn great work.

It looks like a VHS master!

Oh, I am sure they used exactly that.. the VHS master, or at least the LD Master.

But as I said, it is not the worst German DVD I saw.

Their DVD of Terminator 2 was better, but not perfect. First of all it is letterboxed and not anamorphic widescreen. Second: no english audio.

Also they did not used english audio back in time. Just plain German Audio. T1 was mono and T2 was some 2.0 and 5.1 audio Track. The 1st release of the Terminator 2 VCL DVD release missed the Making of, even if it was announced on the Cover. Maybe some mastering error.

Was the post someone sent me for a copy of that on Germany's ebay removed? Or did I talk about this another post? No joke, I talk about these movies and the color timing on at least 2 other message boards lol.

I send just the link the the T1 eBay auction with the insane price.

@dvdmike Yes, it was sold in Germany, and it was not the worst DVD I ever saw in Germany. Now it is more of a collecting items, according to the insane price they charge at eBay for that.

The seller of the German vcl Terminator 1 got back to me: "Sorry, no overseas shipping"

Ah well, TBH I'm more interested in seeing if there's any video release with the color timing I've seen in a few videos on youtube where the picture was very, very bright, and had more of a gray color to it. The 2 scenes I remember seeing in these clips were when Kyle runs out of the alleyway and onto the streets (after getting away from the cops and taking their shotgun), and the scenes in the parking lot from when they drive in, to when they get in the 2nd car and Kyle tells Sarah about her son.

If you hafe too much money, there is one T1 VCL at ebay, stated as FSK18 Version.

(No I am not the seller, I don't think I would ever sell my T1 VCL Disc. It is the only Release with the original Weapon Sounds in the Police Department Shootout in the German dubbing.)

If you could point out on wich timecode those scenes are, I could check if I get caps from the VLC disc of those scenes.

So the pics where the blue scenes are purple and the daytime scenes aren't as orange is an old german dvd from vcl? I've been trying to find their release of T1 since I saw some caps of it that show T1 actually looking much closer to the teal that some of us have been complaining about since the release of the American blu-ray.

http://sd.caps-a-holic.com/vergleich.php?vergleichID=221

...

Last night I contacted someone from Germany *I think* is selling it, but haven't gotten a response yet. I'd actually like a copy of this german T2 dvd moreso, since I'd love to see as much of that blue blanket removed. I'm gonna look it up right now :)

The FSK18 T1 DVD was slightly cut. Beware not to get the stronger cutted FSK16 DVD.

And yes, T2 was released from the same company.

Both are quite tough to get. They only have german audio. (Were both released in a time when multi languaged was nothing smaller companies could afford, or was as demanded as it is now...)

Oh regarding the question:

The ones matching the more sepia carolco logo are from the VCL DVD. The intro daylight shots (cars and people on the street are more warmer colors) the night shots are more purple, the explosion shows more on the bottom screen, but lesser on the sides, the daylight shot with sarah connor in the desert seems not so orange...

somehow I alwasy remembered the carolco logo that way: being silver, and changing color to sepia when "finished". I was oddly wondering when I saw it just staying kind silvery blue...

Your yellow shot is closer to what I saw last september, but it's not quite that yet. It really was yellow and warmer. Almost no orange at all.

I also noticed that the Terminator red vision was missing some letters in its inscriptions, at least on the left side. That's the way it was cropped.

Yeah, it was just slightly cropped, sometimes the Letters were just directly at the side, without any vision border.

In that folder are some caps from a remastered release and the old german DVD from VCL. When there are two caps from the same picture, then the true widescreen ( smaller black bars top and bottom) are the remastered DVD and the ones letterboxed full screen ratio are the ones from the first german DVD release...

The ones without borders at all are, as far as i remember only from the old DVD.

Beber: I stand corrected. Your link is dead but luckily I still had the image on my phone and just referenced it. You are correct... the 35mm print I saw had much more yellow to it and was not as orange as this:

I apologize for the confusion.

What you are describing sounds similar to the regraded Terminator 2 release I did, it looks more yellow and less orange in that scene as well. Here's a screencap from that scene taken from my regrade:

 More Yellow like this one?

Kaos, what was the general color in the biker bar at the opening? I remember it not being as brown as the DVD, more Blue like. Saw it 14 times on year of release, so I'm certain Cameron changed this for the VHS/LD and all the other versions.

To baad I never saw it in theatre, but I raised with this kind of look at the bar scene.

Some more caps-a-holic links, with Full Screen comparison versions:

Cujo (UK and CH Versions are Full Screen.. well CH Version is very bad...)

Killing Zoe (the old German release in the comparison was Full screen.. without english Audio)

Braindead (okay, UK and AT are not Full Screen, but has an odd AR)

The Dentist (German languaged DVD is Full screen... not english friendly)

Jackie Brown (old German DVD was Full Screen. WideScreen was achieved with a subtitle track containung Black Bars...)

Jason goes to Hell (UK DVD)

American Ninja 2 and American Ninja 3 (both have Full screen US releases)

Army of Darkness (old German DVDs)

Very Bad Things (old german Full Screen DVD open matte, but slightly censored)

...and we never should forget old Disney Movies. ie.: The Djungle Book...

It's also on Amazon.de: http://www.amazon.de/Terminator-1-Arnold-Schwarzenegger/dp/B00004RYC8

If you're in another country and have an Amazon account, you can still get it as long if one of the sellers ships to your country.

And there are some clips on YouTube recorded off a TV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XKD2OW0a8o

Notice at the end that there's no Harlan Ellison acknowledgment, and Donna Smith's credit scrolls up at the head of the credit roll after the last shot fades out, instead of fading in over the last shot. I think these are the original theatrical end credits...

I would be carefull with that offer.. the amazon.de page is for the more than five minut censored FSK 16 release.

But, we should get back to topic regarding the TeamBlus BD release.

Damtn that I cannot use torrents in Germany that easy. I really would love to get my hands on the two discs. (NO! I won't give away my Temrinator 1 DVD :D )

I'd certainly love to get my hands on it.

For all people get down on the new "teal and orange" Blu-ray transfer, but I am wondering if it's less pure revisionism and more an exaggerated/bastardized version of the theatrical timing.

That's been my suspicion for a while.

 It is up on ebay

here

and here

It was cutted 3 seconds in the scene when The terminator cutted his eye.

And it has only german audio.

And the version stands in my DVD shelf... but thats a place, where it is not for sale... :)

The japanese BD has a higher video bitrate than the new US BD. But I don't know what Master was used.

Edit: Okay, I can answer this, now.

The japanese BD looks more like the anchor bay. Same AR, same color tones. Just a higher bitrate
