Sometimes I still find things that seem not to be released that way in USA.

Today I checked informations on George A. Romeros Classic "The Crazies" which recently got released in USA by BlueUnderground on Blu.

In Germany there was a 2 DVD Disc limited Edition (1500 pcs.) in the year 2008 containing:

- commentary by George A. Romero and William Lustig

- commentary by Lynn Lowry and Thomas Kerpen

and on the second Disc:

- "The Mute Hippie Girl on Acid with Rabies" - A Interview with Lynn Lowry running time about 46 minutes

..at least the audiocommentary with Lynn Lowry seems to be a germany only feature (but it is stated to be in english with german subs), but I don't know if the Lynn Lowry Interview is the same as on the US Blu ...

Yeah I saw the Spike, sadly, I cannot export in HD from the DVR. It's the Universal version. If any of you know how to export it in HD, that would be awesome.

I would say that it depends on your DVR, how to get it in Full quality. If there is nö normal Way, maybe you could Open the DVR, pull the HDD Plug, and use the HDD in a normal Computer. Depending on the System the HDD is formatted (ext3 / ntfs / fat32 ...) it may Be a Bit difficult Regarding Drivers, but you could use a Ubuntu live Disc. That Way you may Be able to get the Complete Movie from HDD to pc...

Info Wanted: Giorgio Moroder presents "Metropolis" - is it any good? (lots of info)
Time

I just got a DVD5 of the Redux Version. I did not watch it completely, yet, but for the few minutes I watched, I have to say, that it is a great Version.

The comentary subtitle is very informative, and it is a real good addition to my US BD of the Moroder Version and the UK BD of the reconstructed Lang Version.

Very interresting that the different Sources of the moroder Version had different color tinting intensities...

Thanks for your help with informations...

It's nothing wrong with it. (Except its region A coded :) )

I just want to know, if that so called "redux" version does have other way colorized scenes. Or other differences from the original moroder Version. If not, I am very happy with the BD. But IF there are differences, like its different colorized, its something about collecting. The original Moroder seems to be just colored in one color per scene (like the colorized Version of Murneaus Nosferatu) while the "Redux" seem to have some multi colored scenes. But its hard to tell without the redux version on hands, just the two pictures on the site mentioned in the first post...

I just got the US BD of Giorgio Moroders Metropolis Version. Some years ago I found the following website http://www.morodermetropolisdvd.com/ with a “fan made” redux Version of Giorgio Moroder’s Version. Sadly just avaible outside europe.

Has someon that disc, and could tell if its a well done edition? It seems to be a bit more colorised than the original Moroder Version.

Austria got a BD release of "Warlock" (from 1989). It's Region B. It's the first time the uncut (compared to German languaged VHS and Theatrical releases) r-rated (so normal US DVD Version) Version is released in German. AFAIK it is the first BD release of this movie worldwide.

It's released by NSM Records (so, the expectations are somebit low), at least it is not mpeg-2 encoded, it is AVC encoded.

It's released in a BD & DVD Combo Mediabook with a 12 paged inlay. A comparison between the BD and the also included DVD Version will be up at caps-a-holic soon (I would say this weekend). The price is a bit annoying with about € 30. Maybe some single Disc releases follow one day, after the (not numbered, and no limitation number given) limited Mediabook.

No subtitles are on the Discs and following audio tracks are on the BD:

DTS-HD Master Audio English 1802 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1802 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit)
DTS-HD Master Audio German 1077 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1077 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 16-bit)

These are the normal international releases, not longer. Also Avaible in USA, UK and so on.

Rambo 2 and 3 where long time indiziert, and so only cutted down to FSK 16 avaible on domestic stores.

So they are not longer than this versions:

With The Punisher (the one with John Travolta) it is even worse in Germany: It was cut according to the normal US theatrical release. The german DVD with the "uncut" Theatrical Version containes the cutted german theatrical Release. The uncut international Released was released as "Extended Version" in Germnany, wich is definitfly not the US Extended Version.

In Germany so called "uncut" Versions are ofen just the normal international release, because of some locally special cutted Versions.

The normal 'uncut' Verison of Total Recall was also indiziert in germany, so there was a cutted Version rated FSK16. This happens and happend a lot.

The best german languaged ressource, if a german Version is cut or uncut is www.ofdb.de sometimes it also gives informations if its a specially extended Version, or a us unrated Version or r-rated. But it normally focus on german standards. r-rated and unrated versions both count as uncut in Germany, normally.

BTW: the unrated DVD from Kinowelt was running time 106:41 min. the r-rated release was 106:36 min . Maybe there is a third "unrated" version? Here is a german comparison between the old german uncut (r-rated) Version and the longer Kinowelt release. (Kinowelt also released a normal r-rated Version years ago)

Scream 3 seems to get the same release as everytime.

Scream 2 is stated to be remastered. But AFAIK the GERMAN Disc was messed up with the aspect ratio. So it is rematered according to the old german Disc. that could be, that they just use the US master. So we have to wait for the release. I will post pics after I got it.

Scream 1 is a bit hard to sort out. "Uncut" just says, that one official Version is not additionally cutted. The r-rated Version is also an uncut Version in germany. The "cut" version was FSK 16, also there was a cutted FSK 18 Version in Germany. the uncut r-rated Version WAS indiziert Kinowelt also released the unrated Version, wich was also indiziert, but did nod had an FSK rating.

After some reorganisation Movies rated FSK18 now can nopt be indiziert. Old FSK18 rated movies still could be indiziert.

Scream 1 was deleted from the list of the indizierten movies in 2011, and NOW the uncut Version with following running times:

at 25 fps:106Min. 41Sek.
at 24 fps:110Min. 34Sek.

is now rated FSK16

So you have really be carefull wich Version you order, if you order ;) The old Verisons are released by "Kinowelt" the new release in december is from "StudioCanal" and has the red FSK18 logo, due to some bonus features, which got no FSK16 rating.

The Set contains the same extras as the normal single releases, nothing more.

I pay about 26 € for the trilogy set, while Scream 1 single Disc is for about 16 €, also I need the better Scream 2 Disc, because I just own the old german BD.

The extras seem to be the extras from the old releases, nothing new. :(

If all informations on the upcoming Scream release are correct, we will have a single Disc Edition with the unrated Version of Scream 1, also a 3 Disc Edition with the trilogy. Containing the new unrated Disc and a "remastered" Scream 2 Disc.

Both will be released in December.

After the second scream was messed up on BD in germany (wrong aspect ratio), the second Scream also gets a remastered version in germany (maybe they use the US master, or they do a new..).

Edit:

The FSK stated, that the Running time of the Scream release will be 106:41 Min. (but it don't tell if DVD or BD.. but it seems to be the PAL speeded upped DVD..)

The good thing for Temrinator:

After long years on the "Index" in Germany, it got off that list last year. And is now rated FSK16. Also there is no german release, yet. So MAYBE, IF we get a BD release, it MAY be remastered, depending on the releasing studio. It maybe a bit optimistic, but hope dies last. :)

If it gets a german release someday, I am sure there will be a comparison regarding video quality up at caps-a-holic.com...

While the US BD of Hellraiser 3 is not avaible, yet, as far as I know, the japanese BD Box set with the first 3 movies is.

I hope that the US will get a new transfer of Hellraiser 3 movie, and not, as the Hellraiser 1 BD, a more filtered one than japan.

Additionally: Hellraiser 3 jap. BD is just 93 min. running time: that point towards the r-rated Version.

To be honest: the japanese Bd of Hellraiser 3 is not worth to buy:

comparison: ger DVD vs. jp. BD

Oh, and why I mentioned that the US BD of Hellraiser 1 is a bit more filtered:

comparison: US BD vs. jap. BD

The jap. BD instead has some scratches which where filtered away in the US release...

The Italian Blu of "The Big Lebowski" ist not so DNR'ed, like the german (european) BluRay from Universal. Maybe Universal using the same BD Master worldwide, but the Italian Version is more like the older, better looking HD-DVD.

The italian Bd seems to be Region free also. It just contain italian subs, but english and italian audio.
