Info: Hard Boiled and The Killer
Time

There was no Code of Bullet for HArd Boiled AFAIK. Do you want to put all CoBs together as Specials, even if they where according other Movies?

Whats with the (even if very bad quality) longer Taiwanese Version from Hard Boiled as a Special Feature? Running Time about 131 min. (It has 5 minutes of a faulty black image, so runing time of the stream is 136 min.)

I have the 5 Code of Bullets I mentioned.

Help: looking for... 'Dead Poets Society' - preservation of the US laserdisc version?
Time

So, after asking the seller nicely, he sold the extended LD to me and shipped it. It arrives last week, now I can search for a preservation again. :)

Maybe I'll buy or rent some DVD recorder, just to make a copy, but a well done preserveation with the movie parts (The LD Version is on 3 sides) sewed back together would be really nice.

Oh, there are two US Laserdiscs. Damn. I just got the normal Edition.

But that I can't get: "no Foreign shipping" :(

Damn, I have to search more for the extended. But thanks, now I know what to look for. I thought there is only one US LD release.

Edit: I even can't ask the seller, if he would send to Germany.

So I have to search more for the extended LD, to search for a DVD preservation.

I know this may be slightly "off topic" but does anyone have a special edition DVD from other regions that has these extras?

"Unstoppable Force: The Legacy Of The Terminator" (9:13)
"The Terminator: Closer To The Real Thing" (11:26)

They're apparently on the French, Holland, Scandinavia and UK discs.

They are also on, at least, one German DVD release. I should have them at Home.

Hi everybody reading,

this is my first request, but I have to request it. 😃

Did anyone preserve the US LaserDisc Version of “Dead Poets Society”, or does know anything on such a preservation?

The US LaserDisc is about 13 minutes longer than any DVD or BD release.

I have no knowlege or equipment to do such a preservation myself, but I hope that this was done before, so that I could put a preserved Version next to the (opefully soon arriving) LD.

Thanks for reading. 😃

Those 'Code Of Bullets' Docs sound interesting Mr Brown

Are they about the weaponry used in the films they accompany?

If not what are they about?

Cheers for the information on them.

It's hard to explain what the Code of Bullets are about.

Each Code of Bullet has two parts, with a running time of about 4 to 5 mins. So each CoB runs about 8 mins .

Code of Bullet 1: Guns as Partners is about Handguns, their differences and how to care for the guns.

One Man Battle is about choosing and preparing a setting for a one man battle like the restaurant fight in A better Tomorrow. Also about advantages and disadvantages of the weapons in that scene.

Code of Bullet 2 - Die Hard is on wounding, and how different vulnerable are different parts of the human body.

Hide! Explosion! is on Explosions, and the results of it at different distances. Here are some not subtitled parts.

Code of Bullet 3 - A Matter of Seconds is on timing in gunfights, and on general trained things, like correct holding a gun and movement in battle.

Anti-tanks is on tanks, and the man against tank fight, like using its weak spots.

Code of Bullet 4 - Perfect Selection is about selection of the used weapons by the guys in the movie. Differences between bigger guns, like Shot-Gun and Automatic Rifle. The reputation of that guns, like the Automatic Rifle an old gangsters weapon.

Deadly Sniper is on ... well.. sniping, its advantages, how to choose the perfect sniping spot and the weapon used in The Killer. Also on what a sniper does at his sniping spot.

Code of Bullet 5 - Guns Mean Power is on using guns in general, and diefferences between Handgun, Automatic Rifle, Machine Gun and Light Anti-Tank.

Gone With The Wind is on Smoke Granades.

What do you drive?
Time

Living in GErmany, I see no point driving an american car.

First: they use too much fuel. In Germany a Liter Gasoline costs about € 1.60 (As long as you don't use Diesel, which is a bit cheaper)

Second: Last Winter there were about -20° Celsius. Some Amerian cars gets trouble with that.

SO I am happy to drive in summer a 1990 VW Golf 1 Convertible and in winter a 1992 normal VW Golf 2 which had no trouble starting at -20° Celsius

What Brand Blu ray player should I get?
Time

<p>AFAIK Sony's PS3 was long time one of the best DVD upscaler on the market. (At the dawn of BD.)</p>
<p>Maybe you want to look for a more like "cheaper" Brand product, if you are planning on importing movies from Europe or Asia, because the BD Players of big brands seldom have region free options.</p>
<p>Also region free european BDs (exspeccially from germaqn smaller labels) may not work on an US Player, if there is PAL encoded SD material, like trailers or extra features.</p>

Dubbing
Time

One really extreme exsample is the German dub for Starship Troopers.

They censored the classroom scene with the dubbing.

Instead of the fall of democracy, and how military took charge in Germany there is a "first bug war" introduced.

Also there are other smaller things like:

Original: "Join the Mobile Infantry and save the world. Service guarantees Citizenship."

Dub: "Treten Sie der Mobilen Infanterie bei und kämpfen Sie für die Zukunft."

translated to englisch: "Join the Mobile Infantry and fight for the future."

And:

Original: "Citizen rule. People making a better tomorrow."

Dub: "Unsere Kinder. Wir müssen sie schützen."

translated to english: "Our children. We have to protectd them."
