Aren't some of the missing trailers on the THX WOW! DVD found at myspleen?
Maybe I sound overcritical, but may you all be so kind and discuss the "Suspiria" things in the according thread? thanks. :)

So does anyone know if there is an English dub for Hard Boiled?
Thanks
UK DVD from Tartan contains English Dub.

Well, uhm.. may I prove you wrong? :D
(...jutajoke, to calm the tenses. :) )
Even iof a bit offtopic, regarding "A Better Tomorrow" Trilogy.
My japanese Discs arrived today, and they also look exactly like the Hong Kong Discs. As with the Killer it is just the Fortune Star upconversion... :(

See the comparison link I posted above. The Italian release isn't the best IIRC, with heavy DVNR. The French and Japaneese are far more worthwhile.
I would say that the italian BD is less filtered, than the japanese.. as far as I follow the links on the link...
It may has much more noise, but also more details, if I look at the caps.
Regarding Suspiria:
You seen the links to caps-a-holic at Blu-Ray.com Forum?
Maybe you should try to use the italian BD as Video source... but it ...only has italian Audio.

Yes. There was at one point, but it's not very good. I deleted it a while back.
The EE does not really harm the film, in my opinion, but I can see why people would want the theatrical. Are there alternate takes like Amadeus? If not, editing the BD would be the way to go.
There are about 3 alternate takes which are not in the EE as in the TC.

Short story: The japanese BD of "The Killer" is quite a shame calling it a BD. Okay, it need about 20 gig of space, but the quality is.. very bad.
Bummer! Had high hopes.
Is the audio mix the same as the Hong Kong BD?
I have no possibility to check, because I lack knowledge how to measure it.
The japanese has thre Audio potions, as far as I see the japanese language they seem all be same language.
- 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
- 7.1 Dolby True HD
- 6.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX
I think the coming A Better Tomorrow trilogy discs will be an equal disapointement, because they also seemed to be licensed from Fortune Star, as "The Killer".
Today I got my shipement from yesasia containing the japanese BDs of "The Killer" and "Hard Boiled", together with the Hong Kong BDs of "The Killer" and "Bullet in the Head".

I am not that critical person, because I really seen bad DVD releases in GErmany, only gladful that we even got movies, but here I will stick with my e-m-s DVD for sure:

MrBrown, I believe that release is an upconvert, yes? Or no?
...
Well, you are the only one, who can answer the question, what you believe...
...but I can tell you that the HK BDs of the "A Better Tomorrow trilogy are looking like upconverts.
ABT2 looks better than ABT1.
ABT1:
ABT2:
Today my HK BDs of "A better Tomorrow" arrived. Somehow the shipment with The Killer and HArd Boiled seem to be... later, even if it was ordered days ahead.
Maybe I'll wait until weekend. If it still not arrived, I'll try to contact yesasia.com.
I am wondering that the german HD-DVD has a 7.1 DTS-HD Track, while every other Release on BD only has 5.1 or 6.1 Tracks.

MrBrown I also have the Ultimate Army of Darkness coming as well as the France version which I should have any day now, but do you know if the Koch version of Inferno is still available?
Thanks
Inferno seems not to be sold out, you just won't find it on amazon.de due to the fact that it is Indiziert. I still see a german shop (ofdb.de) selling it for € 29,98.
And dtm.at sells it for 21.99 €.
Both prices don'T include shipping.
The German shop seems not selling international, but I think someone from the blu-ray.com forum bought something at dtm.at.

Sorry about that, I'm excited too.
If The Killer, ABT, etc are as good as the Japanese Hard Boiled BD is, I will die a happy man... AFTER I've seen the BD's, of course. :)
I don't think the captures I got from PowerDVD do the film justice, but the Japanese BD is a *huge* improvement over the US BD. I have not seen the movie yet on my TV but just took screens of it to show everyone.

I understand your excitement. I really waiting for the Discs myself. Even If I don't know the results with the Killer I allreaddy ordered the japanese and the Hong Kong Boxes of "A Better Tomorrow" also, just to compare them.
They may arrive in May, hopefully.
UK got an "extended" BluRay release of Hammers 1958 Dracula with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee with two restored Scenes.
It contains the 2007 bfi restoration and the 2012 Hammer restoration on BD and DVD now presented in 1.66:1 (first time in its OAR).
Also a new audio commentary with Marcus Hearn and Jonathan Rigby.
Also some new documentaries on the censore history of the film and its restoration.
The Disc is stated to be Region B locked.
If someone is interessted, I'll do some screencaps and a BD Infos Scan.

April Germany is getting a Release of Army of Darkness by Koch MEdia, containing the DC on one BD, the US and the intl. Theatrical Cut on another BD, also the Three Versions on each a DVD, and a fourth DVD containing the US Television Cut in english with german subs.
I preordered this "Ultimate Edition" and will give informations on quality as soon as I'll get it and the time.

MrBrown,
Please let us know what you think of The Japanese Killer BD. The Hard Boiled disc is definately not an upscale and although the website says "A Better Tomorrow" is HD, I can't find anything that confirms that.
I would pay the high prices for these discs if only I could find out what they look like ahead of time.
First the BD has to arrive. :)
I am also very impaitient waiting, because, I really wan't to know how the japanese DB compares to the Hong Kong Release.
If the japanese discs won't be that expensive, and if they would contain english subtitles, I would order the A Better Tomorrow Discs, too.
Maybe if The Killer is noticable better that the Hong Kong Release, I'll give the A Better Tomorrow Discs a try.
Regarding Hard Boiled, music audio only trailer I have seen 3 different Versions regarding the text ins:
1.: Complete english text ins (DE e-m-s DVD, US Dragon Dynasty)
2.: Complete chinese text ins (only "Hard Boiled" in english under the chinese text in at the end) (US Criterion)
3.: Text Ins in Chines with english additions beneath them (other text cards, than the chinese only) (DE - Laser Paradise DVD)

You have as many versions as me lol but different. Wonder how many there have been around the world?
Ive not got these.
...
Not seen any of these. Are the Trailers in better condition than the criterion and Tartan releases?
...
Missing The commentary and the Terence Chang Interview. Not got the trailers also. The box of my bluray says there on there but I can not find them.
Do you think the Code Of Bullets docs will fit in with the Hard Boiled Ultimate? If they were to be included I think it would be this one and not The Killer due to Hard Boiled being the more Gun Crazy one.
The Trailers on the e-m-s seem to be in bit better shape than the Hard Boiled Trailer on the Criterion. at least the Golden Prinzes Logo doesn't hop such strong up and down...
I think the Code of Bullets would make agreat collection together with Hard Boiled and The Killer. They may use some scenes from the Movies they were on DVD with, but the general concept is more a view on the gun using itself, and not limited to the concerning movie.
And this may give a limited, german languaged, view on the different releases avaible. I am sure there are much more.
So, I have done a little research in the depth of my DVD shelf, which Hard Boiled DVDs I have, and what are the extras:
CoO Germany:
Uncut, Laser Paradise :
- Trailer
- Some german languaged text galerry
- Interview with John Woo (29:37 min with burned in english and japanese subs)
Uncut, e-m-s:
- Trailer (german, kantonese, english)
- Picture and Text galleries
- Behind the Scenes ( 1:20 min)
CoO UK:
CUT first release, Tartan:
- Trailer
- Textgalleries
- Interview with John Woo (Same as on GErman Laser Paradise DVD)
CoO Taiwan:
extended, Long Shong - no extras
CoO USA:
2 Disc, Dragon Dynasty:
- Feature Length Audio Commentary by Hong Kong Cinema Expert Bey Logan
Disc Two:
- A Baptism of Fire: a Featurette With Iconic Director John Woo
- Partner in Crime: an Interview With Producer Terence Chong
- Art Imitates Life: an Interview With Co-Star Philip Chan
- Hard Boiled Location Guide
- Mad Dog Bites Again: an Interview With Leading Villain Kwok Choi
- Trailer Gallery (Hong Kong Theatrical Trailer & US Promotional Trailer)
bootleg (When I bought, I didn't know :( ) Criterion ... (normal Criterion Bonus features)

Agreed Big Rob. Best version of the film ive seen.
Anybody know if The Killer is like this also. It was released the same time and by the same label? Can not find anything on it myself.
I just ordered the japanese The Killer. I may check in some weeks, after it arrived...
Are there some (Fan)Subs, which could be aligned to the japanese Hard Boiled Video Stream?
Great. Does The Killer have English subs?
I have synced up the U.K Hong Kong Legends DVD subs to the Killer in 23.976fps. These should sync up with little effort to the japanese verson but will have to wait and see.
I have also synced up the U.K Tartan Hard Boiled subs and they work perfectly with the Japanese Blu Ray.

There was no Code of Bullet for HArd Boiled AFAIK. Do you want to put all CoBs together as Specials, even if they where according other Movies?
Whats with the (even if very bad quality) longer Taiwanese Version from Hard Boiled as a Special Feature? Running Time about 131 min. (It has 5 minutes of a faulty black image, so runing time of the stream is 136 min.)
I have the 5 Code of Bullets I mentioned.
Was thinking about doing that with the Code Of Bullets yes.
The Taiwanese Hard Boiled is on a 4.7gig DVD and untouched would take up half the special features disc for which I was going to produce a dual layer dvd.
The japanese "The Killer" seems not having english subs, but I am hoping, that I can use the Hong Kong BD subtitles.
After getting the BDs I'll check this.
Regarding Code of Bullets: If you still needing them for your project, we should exchange pm's. Maybe you could help me with subs for my ordered japanese Hard Boiled...
