I have a special request if anyone is good with VFX. I would like to have the blood removed from Reyās face in the celebration scenes. My edit is removing Palpatine entirely. The Rey vs. Kylo duel is used for the climactic battle and she has no blood when she goes to Ahch-To after, so she shouldnāt suddenly be covered in blood when she goes from there to the celebration. I have no idea if this is easy or difficult, but I thought Iād ask since there is a lot of amazing work being done here.
Thatās a whole lotta work for a small detail.

Itās so difficult to explain how Iāve restructured my edit. Did you see my change list on my The Last Hope thread?
There literally isnāt 2 full minutes of the movie where I havenāt changed something.
Just watching my new rough cut now and moving Kylos flashback scene and the helmet scene as an opener and then Mustafa after board meeting works really well.
That way Rey mentions the wayfinder as an introduction to it rather than kylo just picking up a triangle and going to a place to see Palpatine. Pacing seems to really work better than way too.

Sorry Hal, Still getting to grips with this site on my phone. Itās a nightmare keeping up with all the messages and threads.
I felt having the Mustafa scene at the beginning was like telling a punchline of a joke before you have a setup. Kylo already going to Exagol and having a Wayfinder at the start leaves no tension or chase with the protagonists. Leaving it for after the board meeting not only gives a great line for a setup but eliminating any mention of Kylo going to Exagol makes room for the cat and mouse situation to happen.
It was kept in the same second transport Chewie was really in.

Did anyone debunk the fact that Ray destroys kylo renās whisper after she jumps over it but then 2 seconds later itās back? Both Vader and kylo Ren had prototypes before I.e. the silencer, so why would he have an extra as it was a specifically modified Interceptor?

Iām just going over ideas and Iāve stumbled on one but as yet I have no idea how to implement or even if it can be (I strongly suspect the latter)
Anyhow, I wondered if there was a way to actually intercut Reyās training in the forest with Kyloās slaughter on Mustafar.
Have the visuals juxtapose each other.
Rey trains against a remote in a lush green forest whilst Kylo slaughters in a burnt out forest.
A light and a dark parallel of each other.
I wondered if it might just help bulk out the Mustafar sequence sufficiently.
Where Iām struggling is Iām trying g to work out how we adequately introduce each of the characters in their own settings to set the sequence in motion.
As I said, itās nothing more than just an idea/concept atm I have no idea if/how it could be implemented yetā¦but I thought Iād put it out there incase it lights a spark with someone who might be able to run with it properly?

Do you have a link to a completed version? I saw your editing videos on Youtube, but Iād like to see what it looks like as a continuous scene with transitions in and out.

I really enjoy how everyone interacts with each other here. Itās such a breath of fresh air seeing star wars fans being positive even if they disagree with one another.
Yeah, good point about a quicker Han cut and using different shots ā that should be doable. But, in regard to the Leia references during the talk, they are gone for two reasonsā¦ A) the most obvious is that Leia hasnāt passed yet, so saying sheās gone obviously is wrong, but also B) Han talking about everything she stood for, etc. comes across as Leia being a little too full of herself (considering in this version itās Leia doing a projection and talking about herself, not Ben not reliving a memory on his own). That dialogue works better in the original scene for the opposite reasons, but not in the way itās been re-cut. Thanks for the feedback!
I did a similar cut removing all of Leiaās parts. The scene seems to flow so much smoother when itās father and son. It has so way more gravitas removing that part, IMO.

That is amazing! Iām only on a phone scene but it looks great. Maybe a little too grey scale compared to the amount of blues on the X-wing but very impressive.
Is it tricky? Iām looking for someone to help add an X-wing to a background in the exactly way?

If I could rewrite the script Iād have Rey stay dead and Ben come back as the new Luke. Iāve give Han full redemption for Kylo killing him.

I actually like the thought behind Canto bight. The fact that super-rich sell weapons to both sides was very controversial for Star Wars in my opinion.

Thatās a good point about Reyās point of view. Thinking about it, itās not impossible to combine that idea with the Mustafar vision idea. How about:
Kylo kills the cultists and comes to a stop. Before him is the stone container inserted via VFX (cut the shot of him turning). He opens the box and places his hand on the square item inside. Use shot of him turning and then his environment dissolves into the interior of the cultistās base on Exegol. After the Exegol scene it returns to the shot of Kylo standing over the box, this time with it open and the Wayfinder still upside-down inside.
This allows for the audience to put the pieces together as Rey does.
Thatās incredible creative. Iād love to see that just because it sounds awesome.

Only to have a more positive ending. Iām Killing him straight off at the start of TROS but Iāve been reworking the start middle and end thanks to peopleās amazing creations on here.
I also canāt thank you enough for making the amazing force ghost scene. I actually rewatched all the prequels and had footage ready to start working on Qui-Gon etc but you did way beyond anything I could do. I applaud you, Sir!

Wow great work on the dialogue, is their dialogue meant to be telepathic? looks very effective.
In this version is there a reason for why Luke has to go? In the last Jedi he dies from draining his force energy from the incredibly taxing feat on Crait, I just think him dying for no reason would kind of undercut his arc in TLJ so Iām also curious about his arc in your version of that film.
As itās one of the opening scenes of Iām hoping that the same emotion carries through but I have been looking for other dialogue for loop to say āitās my timeā or something like that. If you have any ideas please let me know.
