I showed a friend ghost force ghosts today, and he recommended that I add a little more sparkle to the jedi close-ups. I’m going to do a test, let’s see what remains.
Now the cats out the bag and gone mainstream, I’ve just made a video aboyt your scene. It’s doubtful that you can improve on perfection but i’d like to see any changes you try.

I’ve just had someone point out that the new battlefront II footage Lilian created on Mustafar has blue laser from resistance guns and not yellow from mustafarians.
Is anyone skilful enough to do a colour change on this?

Yeah, I don’t see why Leia had to get involved in that scene at that point. Seeing a little weird that she dies just by saying “Ben”. Taking out any mention of Leia in the Han and Ben talk also mimics the TFA scene much better.
I mean, the vision came true. That’s the whole point. At the end of her Jedi path, her son died.
Very good point. Anakin had a vision of Padme dying which made him turn to the Dark Side, and the vision still came true.
Very good points but I feel that Leia training Rey actually contributes to Ben’s death. It doesn’t make sense to me plus Rey saying she’s a Skywalker doesn’t make sense. By the end of TROS she has stolen the Falcon, Stolen BB8, and taken the Skywalker name. All that left me with a bad taste.
How are you accomplishing that?

I’m moving some of Leias early scenes later in the movie and removing her death scene during Rey and kylos duel to give Han Solo full redemption by being the one who kills Kylo. I’ve also made a few extra scenes with Leia, one being the early seen about the falcon not coming back where I’ve changed it about Rey not coming back and syncing it with ahch-to. Does that make sense? It’s extremely complicated but it works, imo.
I think Ben needs to survive. He feels really out of place as a force ghost, and the movie makes it clear that Leia only stopped training because her son would die if she continued.
Except he still died, so what was the point of her not being a Jedi?!?
Ben dying makes Leia’s storyline even worse in TRoS. Cut his death.
I felt exactly the same, hence why that is now part of my main storyline. I felt a lot of people forgot about Leias vision.
PM sent. Again, I don’t know how you plan to handle Exegol, but even though Kylo doesn’t know about Palpatine yet at that point, he probably is already looking for the planet.
I’m having it that “the message” tells everyone about Palpatine and that all sides are looking for the wayfinder.
Kylo still finds it first but the cat and mouse chase has more meaning this way.
I’m removing all of Palpatine changing his mind every 5 mins and the whole Palpatine granddaughter plot line.
I don’t know what your plans are about Exegol and how much people know about it, but you could also make Kylo directly state “My knights and I are going hunting for Exegol”. I tried that in my awful edit, and with some work on it that could work.
Do you have a link for your edit? That could work too. I’m liking these ideas…
Have you thought of wiping right to the TIEs/Star destroyer in space establishing shot, then to Vader’s castle, then to the TIE flyby and Battlefront cutscene? It might be the best way to remind the viewer this planet is Mustafar and sneak in the castle. Granted, the current transition is already pretty good.
I may have missed this bit, but how does your restructure justify Ren not wearing the helmet while searching for Exegol?
Yeah, I did try that with my new start but it dragged the scene out too much. I now cut from TIEs to Rens flashback and Helmet scene at the start. The transitions work really well there too so the castle scene just doesn’t seem to fit anywhere that needs an extra shot.
I thought of that but Ren seems to pick and choose when he wears it in TROS so I’m just gonna leave it I think. I’ve gotta wait to get to another rendering point so I can see if its an issue.

I’m still trying to figure out a way of making the KoR actually do something. You’re right! They really need to be in that scene somewhere, I don’t have the skill to do that atm but that would add a lot to this scene also.

I’ve just uploaded a breakdown of my Mustafar scene and I’ve tried to give everyone a shout out as I think so many people did a fantastic job brainstorming and working on these extra scenes. I hope I got everyone’s names linked to the right clips.
I was already happy with the scene from the original movie but you guys really added another level to it so I had to include some. Still upset I couldn’t fit Vaders castle somewhere but I will keep trying.

Here’s a test of the ending, with pretty much everything except for a ghost for Ben.
Unfortunately the music used comes in right on the heel of a bombastic conclusion to the Resistance theme, so it’s a shame it can’t be a bit more teasing and gradual as it comes in like the original scene’s music.
It’s still synced to the original, so it’s be easy to ditch in favor of the original.
That’s a beautiful ending. Really nice scene. Are you moving Leia’s death scene at all?

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but most of those shots have had the words “this way!” Replaced with “Follow Me!” No idea why but it gets frustrating when you count them.
If you remove the first Stormtroopers death (out of place shot anyway) and replace it with the balloon whoop it makes for a smoother transition to Poe
I liked the exhale, it was a fun Ben trait. I just wish it was positioned somewhere. Fact is that his last line in the movie is “ouch”, so I figured ‘let’s keep as much Ben characterization as possible’.
Don’t even get me started on that “Ouch!”. I’m thinking of replacing it from one of his grunts from TFA. Ouch just seemed out of place after the huge Whisper crash and being stabbed without a word.

I just discovered this thread and stuff I saw here is amazing. I figured I’d share this small change I made to the Kylo vs Knights fight (I started reading here at page 82, so if someone’s already done it, sorry in advance 😄 )
I never understood why they put that close-up shot of Kylo lowering himself, it just froze the action and made it look like he was waiting.
I’ve actually cut that a little heavier and taken out Ben’s exhale. It sticks with the action a lot more without that pause.
If they had used yellow lightning to give a visual cue for the force healing (like a force defibrillator 😃), there would be some logic to visually depict the differences.
