It felt like Lando was dodging his responsibilities, which is also never brought up again. Anyway, I think it would work if Rey said her line about “needing pilots”, and we saw Lando’s reaction of considering what she just said, and then the next scene. There’s some emphasis now on him scrounging up enough ships to take down the First Order, even if it’s just one line.

Cutting the Landos intro scene would cause so many more edits that it’s just not worth it. I’m still trying to come up with ways to make it less coincidental with every scene after it but it;s tricky.

There is some extra footage of Lando looking really sad at the base so I was thinking if someone had the skill to have him over Leia’s bedside and just say one line that it would complete that circle. At least have him next to her at some point. @jonh would this be something for you to think about?

And I think pacing-wise they may have made a good move structuring there opening as Kylo > Falcon > Rey.

And yeah, I haven’t removed Rey handing Leia the saber. I don’t see any reason to aside from the continuity error. But, do you happen to already have a clip posted of the change? What all are you cutting? I know the Leia footage is fleeting and so I hate to cut it down.

I understand it ringing a little hollow on the backend of the film as Leia and Lando never get a moment together. However, that is indicative of this entire sequel trilogy; missed opportunities for OT characters to have meaningful interactions with each other. Even though in this case, with Carrie Fisher’s passing this would have been hard to pull off. I enjoyed the line as it was a nice tip of the hat to TESB and how smooth Lando was trying to be when they initially met and how antagonistic their relationship played out throughout that film till the end. This line to me shows that despite starting out as not trusting Lando and even thinking he was in it entirely for himself, they formed a lasting friendship and he became one of her most trusted friends (and vice versa). We missed so much between the OT and ST, lines like this help me film in the gaps between trilogies.

Completely agree but isn’t that what we’re here to fix?

I feel Lando could have stood at Leias bedside and said something like “Goodnight sweet Princes, I love You!” Or something touching. Very easy scene to do in the circumstances.

Is there a consensus about whether to move the first Falcon sequence to between “I’ll earn your brother’s saber” and “the Falcon’s back”?

Are you still keeping the “I’ll earn your brother’s saber” scene after Idir_hh pointed out the continuety error?

That way, when she sees Ochi’s ship she instantly rememberes what Luke wrote in the Jedi texts. FINALLY!!! I was told never to bring it up again, and I’ve had so many arguments online about that ship. You’re the only person whos agreed with me! I found several ways to play that scene out but I think I’ve picked the best one where it now looks like Kylo is coming from one side and the TIEs are coming from the other to pin them in. Rey loses control because of fear now, which gives Kylo the upper hand. 😃

I’m currently running at 2:12 but that’s with a bunch of new scenes

Yeah, I just found there were too many coincidences so removing Lando and Ochi at that point makes it feel a little more accidental and poignant when Rey sees ochis ship

I’ve worked on this scene so much and I even found a way to remove Lando, ochi and the dagger up until Rey picks the dagger up in Kylos quarters. Then Landos intro can either be at the base or in the falcon cavalry. It does take a large chunk of the movie out though.

Why would the new characters know who he is? I trimmed out Rey’s snappy reply but I feel they needed the intro, maybe.

It’s spooky this scene has popped up again. I was working on it last night.

Just commenting to see if anyone else has any lucky enhancing the terrible fx in the deleted scene.

I wish they finished it for the movie.

I can’t remember which movie the night scenes were from? I think I’ve mastered Palpatine’s fortnight message, adding the soundtrack “Arriving at Coruscant” and using idir_hh great scene with Kylo Ren looking over the city.

Did anyone do a version of TFA that kept Kylo Rens helmet on during the Rey interaction scene?

Did anyone come up with a different way of Rey escaping for Kylo’s ship in TFA other than using Jedi mind tricks?

Ady, I just wanna say thank you for these edits as they were the one thing that pulled me back into the franchise after TLJ. Your talent was also one of the reasons I started doing fan editing myself.

I think the main issue is jumping from place to place so quickly rather than the length of a clip. I like the work you’ve done though.
