I really liked the game of chess at the end for Hal’s cut. It was very creative and showed them all traveling together at the end.
There were so many references to Finn being force sensitive in TROS that it can’t be anything else other than him telling Rey.
I doubt the cast will return for another movie so I’m sure we’ll find out in a comic or something soon.

I just watched Doomcocks’ video and that’s ten minutes of my life I’m never getting back. I know it’s somewhat hypocritical sharing this on a fan edit message board but this guy is clearly incredibly bias and needs to accept the fact that Rey Skywalker is canon and will be forever. This video has about as much credibility as something Mike Zeroh would produce with an extra dash of misogyny. For more reliable star wars news I would suggest sticking with the star wars leaks reddit, Youtube is full of trash.
Absolutely agreed! I’ve had to unsubscribe from so many star wars YouTubers recently for spouting utter garbage! Did you watch the Mike Zeroh clickbait breakdown video? It was hilarious. 🤣

I think cutting any of Leia’s scenes other than when she says “from the very beginning…” during the message reveal would be sacrilege.

Personally, I would remove Leia’s line, “Rey. Never be afraid of who you are.”

It’s too bad footage had to be reversed in order to get enough room. I think finding some alternate source for a choir belting out those notes, maybe with a little less gusto, would help make it feel diagetic to that moment.
I agree though, it’s a natural idea for that moment.
If you didn’t like the reverse extra footage you can always add the choir to Rey’s entrance to Exagol? I first added it their but I thought it made a bigger impact at the sacrifice moment.
@jkimm, If you cut it that heavy you’ll miss the “never underestimate a droid” line. If you use a cut away to bb8 you can still keep that line of dialogue.

Yeah, those are placeholder. I just wanted to show that if you leave the music sting as-is, there should be some sounds of the ship taking off during the last Kylo closeup to help ease the passage of time between cuts. Alternatively, you could tweak and extend the music. I’m not sure which would be better.
My only issue with that scene is the fact they would be flying into oncoming toe fighters. I always wondered how the escaped that chase so ease.
I actually think the ties would be coming from camera left on the last shot. This is based on where Poe points and where Finn looks as he runs back towards the ship. In any case, this is what we could do with the available material. 🤷🏻♂️

The way I’ve used it is to have the acapella intro and stretched the scene by having the Sith stand up (first shot in reverse), pan to wideshot and then sit back down. It works great for that segment.
Oh my god, Hal, I just finished watching the workprint and the only thing I have to say is that I was almost in tears laughing at the part you put at the end when it had the ‘Hal 9000’ logo! If you guys know what I’m talking about, don’t ruin it for everyone else! 😂

I think typing more than what’s necessary reduces the amount of white noise.
Yeah, I found that typing the same line 3 times reduces it but it still kicks in very quickly after a few works.
I may try find voice actors but I’m hoping I can at least cut each work for a sentence like I’m doing for Luke & Leia’s farewell scene.

I HATE how Finn is such a sadist, klaud is useless and how Poe says sorry to Chewie, so I made around 50 more cuts just in the first 15 minutes than you did to fix these.

@kewlfish while I totally agree with you on this point when it comes to most of the other movies, I feel TROS and TLJ needed some heady handed reworking to put right. If only we had delete TROS scenes but saying that I think every one has done a Stirling job at recreating amazing new ones. 😃
I’ve just finished watching the workprint. I hope this doesn’t sound bad as I know how much work you’ve put into it and I mean this with respect but I feel it’s extremely conservative and too close to the original.
I’m not a fan of Rey being a Palpatine or a Skywalker (without reason) and I feel Ben really needs to stay alive so Leia actually changes his destiny and her vision. Without this I just feel she added to his death rather than trying to save him.
I dunno, it’s nice to have a moment of just thinking and not having something heavy-handed happen.
