I feel TLJ took the biggest risks but did the most damage in the process. I lived the fact they highlighted capitalism, slavery, a broken Luke and the final scene with Leia but it did miss the mark on many things. Daisy Ridley dialogue was awesome and they disrespected Ackbar. Unforgivable imo.

Iāve been working on the Mustafar, Coruscant and glitchy Saber scenes all day.
Mustafar release needs a custom tie fighter animation for the establishing shot. Iāve finished the clean footage and I have the model but canāt get the speed right. If anyone can help please let me know.
Coruscant is done but the planet shot is very blurry. Iāve messaged Poppa but if anyone has high res image please let me know.
Glitchy Saber is looking good but Iāll need some help with contrasting as Iām colourblind.
Iāve also been thinking of keeping Hans dice a reality in TLJ and having Ben look at them just before Han shows up on DSII. Iām thinking of reshooting the scene IRL as I couldnāt get the disappearing dice looking right before they disappear but what are your thoughts?

Iāve been working on a scene for my TLJ cut as I didnāt want the Dice to disappear and I recently came up with the idea of adding them to TROS so Iāve just purchased the Dice and looking for suitable gloves to shoot the scene myself. I think the back shots are incredible. Maybe the lighting on the close up looks weird but to light a face in that was without natural shadowing must be a nightmare.

Iām keeping Leia alive until the end so Iām moving Poe and Finn coming back from the mission much later on. Heās wearing a gray shirt but I need to change it to an orange jumpsuit when heās saying his final words to Leia. Iāve tried many different ways but his shirt colour is far too close to his skin tone plus being colourblind is a complete nightmare.

Balance of the Force was a 10 min featured for TLJ. There is a shot in there I need but the 1080p crop looks way too pixelated. Iām not sure if itās on a 4k release anywhere?

Iām finding the same with After effects. Roto2 tool just doesnāt pick up the colour well. Iām doing something similar with Poeās shirt and I think Iām gonna have to paint each frame.

On another note, The glitchy Saber effects were pretty easy to do but Iām just trying to find a good spot where the blue glow isnāt too dominant in the rain reflections. Thatās gonna be the only issue making this effect work. Iām thinking of using a close-up piece of footage from when Rey ignites the Saber before she jumps Kylos ship. Iāve cut that scene in my edit so itāll be good to use it elsewhere.

Iāve been trying to work on the dark outfit but itās extremely difficult the switch white or gray without masking every shot. If anyone knows of a better way, Iād love to learn how?

This is a pretty cool concept and decent execution but I have a few issues with this clip. For one, at this point weāve already seen Rey force-heal his much more serious saber wound - in turn, I feel like this little scar wouldāve already healed during that process. Second, I feel like the scar should close and then fade evenly versus the linear āerasingā effect we see here. The scar itself, however, does look very natural and realistic.

Yeah, I think this was talked about in another thread and someone actually achieved it in EbSynth for a small clip but I think to achieve it in a full scene would take a lot of work.

Thatās great. That effect and sound can even be mimicked for yet another call back. It would also give Rey reason for burying it at the end that seemed a little weird.

I think is really easy to have an effect like this. I also like the symbolism of Rey beeing so consumed and drived by her anger on Kylo and that whole situtation that she kinda explodes and stabs Kylo. Just like the Saber that is so overused and forced to be in there, it craclkes ad fails.
That is great editing guys, a simple change enrichs the movieās themes.
Yeah, Iāve already done some nice tweaks to that scene but this effect would give another great little detail to why her rage gets the better of her. Iāll wait to get the high res crackling scene and see if this works in reality.
