@Brewzter I’m not sure she can be there much longer than a few hours according to the time limit of the movie? Making it feel like she’s there overnight allows that scene not to feel rushed.

@NeverarGreat Is it worth having the first segment of the scene almost dark grey/black to show more passing of time? Really nice work on the Roto, Maybe motion track the closeup of Luke so the glow matches his movement? I like where this is going.

Which makes the line “Ochi’s ship! I’ve seen that ship before…” so stupid. She sees that ship in her flashbacks all the time, so she would’ve recognised it as her parents ship first. She doesn’t even know what Ochi’s ship looks like.

This would be great if there were some form of payoff but Leia gives it straight back in the next scene so it kinda makes it pointless.

That first video reference clip should give you a nice colour palette to pick from as it’s virtually the same shot from TLJ. In your own time though, Man 😃

I think the orange is the glow from the fire not from the Sunset?

I’d love to have Luke say “because you’re a Skywalker” at that point but there wouldn’t be any follow-up other than the end line. It would make more sense if she were, IMO

I think this is really starting to work. I’m wondering if the Porg shot should be removed as their lighting seems way off?

Those couple of Luke outside shots make it feel like it’s getting lighter, not darker but the overall feel to this scene is pretty great.

I always find it best to work on a clip until I can’t anymore, take a day off and then revisit with fresh eyes. You guys are doing a great job. Most impressive.

The characters look at the ground anyway, and it removes the dreadful exchange and it let’s us know everything we need to know and the humour ruins it. Its much better in my opinion.

Remember, Hux helped form Starkiller base, and having his reveal be a goofy one, it removes any form of seriousness.

I disagree. How else are Poe and Finn supposed to know that Hux is the spy? They’ll be confused as to why Hux just shot his own men.

The “What? You?!” reaction (and the later “I knew it!”, depending on whether it’s kept or not) would be enough to sell that. Some things don’t have to be explicit all the time.

Agreed! At least with the “I’m the Spy!” line cut, it doesn’t treat the audience like total idiots. They seem to keep adding little plot reminders throughout this trilogy, TLJ was extremely heavy on this “make for people with short attention spans”

I just noticed the “A 1000 generations…” line being cut. I’ve been wanting to remove that weird exposition for a while but never got around to it. This is excellent. If there is a way of fixing those earlier scenes I’d love to use this if I may?

I’m only looking on my phone but that looks so good. I love the moodiness of the sky in the doorway in contrast of Luke’s glow. It also feels like the movie gets a little breathing space to pass over another day. Really nice.

Yeah, I’ve been replaying that scene a bit lately. The fact that Pride announces Hux is the Spy really makes that reveal a little redundant.

I posted that exactly cut for Hal a while back but I’m not sure he used it? It’s in my cut though. It flows so much better, IMO.

That Chewie scene is brutal. I’m not sure I wanna see that in live action. 😣

I think the problem is that the ghost effect changes in almost all movies. Yoda wasn’t even transparent in TLJ. I kinda like the original look where Obi-Wan was washed out with a more blue hue effect around him. It seemed to get very Ghostbusters by the time it got to TROS.

Did you cut out the time limit in this edit? This would make more sense if you did, Otherwise tick tock, tick tock.
