Personally, those colours really mess with my head. Each scene seems to be a different colour but that’s coming from colourblind eyes.

I absolutely LOVE the de-blue Luke. Was that done using a LUT or did someone else pre do those scenes? 100% approve of that change.

I just felt things were bubbling up between some of you so I thought I’d address it with some banter. I guess it gets lost in text but I’m glad people felt the same. The word “arguing my point” really doesn’t have to be til the death. If I’ve learned one thing from editing star wars, it’s that people can have completely different opinions and still get on. Happy to see it’s got us back on track though.

Here’s where I’m at:

I’ve remasked the T-Minus 5 windows as they had a slight round edge that I wasn’t happy with. They are now square to match the Falcon shape and is finished.

Crackling Saber is on hold as I’m becoming way too picky about the effect and it seriously changes under a different light. Sometimes the particles animate perfectly, while in other shots they seem to have an energy flow. No idea why, They all have the same settings but I’ll figure it out once I get more time.

Not sure if you’re going with the Sith Red Lightning? but those scenes are looking incredible but again, my perfectionist ways are picking holes in everything I do.

@sherlockpotter Lightsabers fizzling out near the end of the Death Star battle, and after Palpatine’s defeat (In development, I think? I remember seeing a test clip, possibly done by MR?) Is finished. My next video will be on this scene so I’ll upload some test shots once I release that tutorial.

@Burbin I forgot to bring it up a way back, but didn’t MR’s shot of Vader’s Fortress in the background still have the ‘lights’ on? I couldn’t even tell but if it does I’m sure it’ll be an easy fix for this cut. I’m personally leaving them on to show the Mustafarians still using it. Didn’t it use to be a monastery or something?

@NeverarGreat Eventually I hope to do the timecode removal of the Klyo scene and several others from TFA, but the time and effort required are quite daunting. If you ever do this please let me know. I was going to attempt it when I revisit the other movies so that would be a load off if you manage it. Thanks! EDIT: DUDE, Those other clips that look awesome. Nice work

@sherlockpotter Potentially recoloring Ahch-To to go from nighttime to sunrise? (Discussion – I don’t think we decided one way or the other. I personally like the idea though. Plus, if the sky becomes purple at sunrise, it would symbolize Leia’s new lightsaber color.) This is a beautiful idea. I’d love to see this happen.

Oh cool, I didn’t get a notification for these replies. Honestly, The amount of money this edit has cost me already $300 would be worth it just for that perfect pay off.

Absolutely! I was talking with another editor a few days ago about adding some young Ben flashbacks to TLJ somewhere. I’d love to see the deleted scenes for TROS. Especially the Oracle scene on Mustafar.

I just found out about the comic strip of Chewie playing with Ben when he was a kid and him having flashback while having a clear headshot in TFA. He then switched to a hip shot because of their connection. I thought that was pretty cool.

Don’t know if you noticed but there is no door in that hallway. They just add the sound to help the transition. It’s so stupid haha! That’s a great idea btw. Let me know if you manage to finish it…

I absolutely agree! There are definitely some characters in this forum. I’ve been really enjoying the huge dopamine highs when great ideas start snowballing and becoming physical scenes. This forum has really pushed my skills and ideas to places I wouldn’t have dreamt of a year ago.

Haha, not really, but after all of these years sometimes I do ask myself what the point is in all of this effort. But it is just like any other hobby, really. We do it because we enjoy it. And it is nice to hear the positive perspectives!

Anyway, I think I’ll get started on the puppets this weekend. Whenever I get to filming, I think I’ll film the puppets separately, which will make it easier for editors to place and time them however they please.

That would be awesome, dude. Are you gonna film them on greenscreen? Honestly can’t wait to see what you make 😄

I’ve just rewatched the whole Passana scene and I think we could possibly triple the clean plate…

Dude, I understand your excitement but chill out! You seem to be dominating this thread lately, no wonder things are getting lost.

Just tagging in here. My cut is basically a Rey Nobody edit up until she says “Rey Skywalker”.

If you need any help with scenes just let me know. All mine are finished. It’s just the crackling Saber, Sith Red lightning and a few other VFX shots that need to be finished now so if there’s any specific scenes you’re struggling with just ask.

I’ve been trying to replace the Lando and Janna final scene with one of Lando by Leia’s bed side. Can anyone think of any usable dialogue to use here? The whole “give Leia my love” and Rey saying “You should tell her yourself” was never paid off but would’ve been such an easy and respectful scene to do.

Random sleepless thought again: As the Acki Acki festival is every 42 years wouldn’t it be better for the puppet show to depict the OT? Maybe having an AT-AT tripping up from the wires which makes the kids laugh? Or maybe combine the two sequences with TLJ, a few pew pews which Luke deflects the bolts while a ship trips up the walker as a more showreal of “Skywalkers” brilliance.

If that’s the case, I think this could fix my lighting issue I had for my final scene. Nice!

In both OT and prequels aren’t we seeing the binary sunSET going down left of the homestead? If this is the case why does the sunrise from the same spot at the end of TROS? 🤔
