Heck, Kylo talks to Palps in a hallway, then leaves through a door; and the next time we see him, he re-enters what looks like an identical hallway. What was he doing in that other room, I wonder…?

Don’t know if you noticed but there is no door in that hallway. They just add the sound to help the transition. It’s so stupid haha! That’s a great idea btw. Let me know if you manage to finish it…

You’re right, it’s like any hobby that requires working together as a group. We build camaraderie and work toward our common goal.

That said, I can’t wait to see what you’ll cook up.

I absolutely agree! There are definitely some characters in this forum. I’ve been really enjoying the huge dopamine highs when great ideas start snowballing and becoming physical scenes. This forum has really pushed my skills and ideas to places I wouldn’t have dreamt of a year ago.

I think “fanboys who can’t let go” is the opposite of this. The fact that this is all in-service of a community effort to turn something they didn’t like into something they do (or, well, tolerate) purely for the sake of their own personal enjoyment is inspiring.

Agreed. I think RL and I were just having a little fun. If we didn’t agree with you, none of us would be here! Although it is becoming clearer that many of us our losing our minds. Maybe one day when I can stop wiping down bags of potato chips with lysol, things will be in better perspective.

No, I was serious…

Haha, not really, but after all of these years sometimes I do ask myself what the point is in all of this effort. But it is just like any other hobby, really. We do it because we enjoy it. And it is nice to hear the positive perspectives!

Anyway, I think I’ll get started on the puppets this weekend. Whenever I get to filming, I think I’ll film the puppets separately, which will make it easier for editors to place and time them however they please.

That would be awesome, dude. Are you gonna film them on greenscreen? Honestly can’t wait to see what you make 😄

Just tagging in here. My cut is basically a Rey Nobody edit up until she says “Rey Skywalker”.

If you need any help with scenes just let me know. All mine are finished. It’s just the crackling Saber, Sith Red lightning and a few other VFX shots that need to be finished now so if there’s any specific scenes you’re struggling with just ask.

I’ve actually removed all the Rey Palpatine references/storyline. I feel it leaves a bit more mystery than shoe horning the family link to Palps.

Oh that’s brilliant, MR! I was just wondering how the community’s progress on Rey Nobody was coming, since Hal was waiting until a blueprint for it could be conceived. Maybe you could share the techniques you used in the main Rey Nobody thread?

I didn’t realise there was a thread. I thought Hal was just removing the “Rey Skywalker” part. Can you link Me? I’d be interested to see how that last scene plays out. No way she was gonna be a Palpatine in my cut!

Random sleepless thought again: As the Acki Acki festival is every 42 years wouldn’t it be better for the puppet show to depict the OT? Maybe having an AT-AT tripping up from the wires which makes the kids laugh? Or maybe combine the two sequences with TLJ, a few pew pews which Luke deflects the bolts while a ship trips up the walker as a more showreal of “Skywalkers” brilliance.

I’m not sure. The main issue is the puppet arm and the thing it throws. A Walker could hide some sins.

I’m basically gonna go back to the drawing board, start by content-filling the ball and wire which I’ve just learnt a new trick on how to do, then remask the puppet and try to clone over the fire bucket once the other parts look seemless.

I’m still pretty new to AE but this would be a nightmare cover job even for a pro I think. Basically because there is no symmetry to the backdrop so if you just clone it your eye would see the pattern.

My sarcasm online always gets me in trouble hence why I try to use emoji’s incase it’s missed.

Jar jar, the trouble is material is extremely difficult to do especially with wind movements. The amount of days it’ll take to get right out weighs it’s importance to my work load right now. I will take another run at it when I can but if anyone else what’s to try in the meantime just let me know…

Hal, No.3 😉

Just changing the subject - does MR have any status updates on the clean puppet plate? As in, does he think it’s possible to do?

We can all agree that he is not allowed to sleep and work on it non stop. Granted, he may go crazy and lose his mind … but sacrifices must be made.

Right MR?!

That’s pretty much what I’m doing! 🤤💻 I’m currently collaborating with a few people so those scenes are taking president atm.

Hal, I’m sure there will be 15 books published in the next 10 years about Poe and Keri Russell having a fling while running spice. The EU never disappoints 😉

I’m thinking something like this:

ZORII: Babu? Babu only works with the crew. That’s not you anymore.

REY: What crew?

ZORII: Oh, funny he never mentioned it. Your friend’s old job was running spice, “until we learned he was a spy for” (The Resistance) [pulled from a few lines down]

FINN: You were a spice runner?

POE: You were a stormtrooper?

REY: Were you a spice runner?

POE: Were you a scavenger? We could do this all night.

ZORII: You don’t have all night. You know, I’m still digging out of the hole you put me in when you left to join the Resistance. You. You’re the one they’re looking for. Bounty for her just might cover us.

(We can play around with it, Jar Jar; but I’m not sure how well it will fit if he was just playing a part. And personally, I think this particular banter feels a little awkward anyway. Unlike the rest of the script, which sounds like it was written by Aaron Sorkin.)

I filmed a video showing that very scene yesterday. 👍🏼

Dude, really? Ha! Just please don’t burn yourself out on this movie!

I guess the lines could still work in context, I just…I don’t know. I’m wondering if, given that we still don’t know Chewie is alive, and he only just died, it may be too soon for quips. Literally 10 seconds ago, these characters were mourning the death of a Star Wars icon. Now they’re cracking jokes in the middle of an occupation zone.

I almost feel like they have enough banter during the rest of the film. Can’t they take a scene to be serious for once? Chewie is dead! This isn’t a game anymore.

Here’s the Zorii scene we were talking about https://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/1413620/action/topic#1413620
