No.
4.3GB is too large to email.
Mobile internet.
So I was accessing the forum on my phone, and - I don't know whether my fingers are too fat or my phone's screen is too small - now I have a free trial subscription to Netflix and Bingowings in my friends list.

SCREENSHOTS:
That's strange; when you stack the shots like that it appears that the top black bar is brighter than the bottom?

OK, don't you guys think it's time to move the discussion to that thread? Or at least DeEd ROTJ, since that is the only one I need the HQ footage for. It's not that I don't appreciate the effort, I really really do, since I really want to use that 720p video for Jedi v2.0 but it just doesn't make any sense to be discussing it in this thread.
We're keeping an eye on coltonlolz - haven't yet decided if he's a troll or just irritating.
C'est la vie...
Sorry.

I might be able to do a DVD of these episodes
I doubt it.
They are not laserdiscs, though. ;-)
Wrong thread?
Harmy's work is based on the 2004 HD master that was "cleaned up" by a company called Lowry Digital. The clean up process had several unwanted effects, star fields, laser bolts and natural atmospheric diffusion (e.g. smoke or fog) were identified as dirt and reduced/removed. Harmy did pretty will getting the stars and laser bolts back, but the last one is very difficult if not impossible to undo. And unfortunately, once you've seen this effect it tends to bug you.
Team Blu's project is based off the 1993 SD master used for the Def Col LD release and also the 2006 DVD. While they've done a great job getting the most out of this source, it does suffer from it's own problems - aliasing and excessive DVNR.
It makes you angry that there is no official option to watch these films in the best quality.
Of course there's the Team Negative1 effort to scan an actual film print, but well... Negative1 can be a little, erm... eccentric (he has a track record of starting threads or blogs then deleting all content, not to mention his posting style). Still, it sounds like he may have help from some other knowledgeable people in the team, so there is perhaps some hope that this will come to fruition some day.

H.265/HEVC is said to double the data compression ratio compared to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC at the same level of video quality. It can alternatively be used to provide substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate.

Buy the dvd.
The web exclusive link from the DVD no longer works.
This guy shared them back in 2008:

I could probably pick it up for less than £10 from eBay UK.
I've seen the first Splash (seem to remember it was cheesy fun a la Mannequin) but never seen the sequel; is it worth preserving?
Do you have the VHS? Are you asking for help capturing?

Useful reference site:
If I go the walkman route I won't need to convert the tapes to MP3 (OK so I could avoid MP3 by digitising then burning to CD, but a USB flash drive is much more convenient). Watching a few Sony and Aiwa models on eBay at the moment.
I know having a walkman in the car is not exactly convenient, but it's a nice retro FU to the iPod generation...
Today I decided to convert some of my old audio cassettes (DJ performances & mix tapes) into MP3 files so I can play them in my car.
I got my old tape deck (Teac V-600) out of the cupboard where it has lived for the last few years and was gutted to find it no longer worked (powers up OK, but the motor doesn't turn). Now I have no way to play back these tapes.
Should I try and fix it? Not sure it's worth it.
Maybe get another deck off eBay, any recommendations?
Although what I really fancy is an old Walkman or portable player; this way I can just plug the player straight into the line-in jack in my car so no MP3 conversion required. Quick check on eBay and surprised to see how expensive some of the more decent Sony models (like the WM- 2 or WM-DD33) are selling for. Any other models I should look out for?

I now own the "The Making of Star Wars" iBook. I've been working on deDRM'ing the 720p for you, Harmy.
To be clear, you are working on a method to remove DRM so that Harmy can convert the video from the eBook that he already owns to a more convenient backup format (i.e. fair use).

DVD mono cannot possibly compare to PCM from a laserdisc. The difference is astounding.
ABX or it didn't happen.

I'm totally confused...is the footage from the Editdroid LD the same as what was released with the ebooks?
No.
The confusion has arisen because two entirely separate sources of "lost" footage have been discovered at around the same time.
The Editdroid LD contains raw footage from the shooting of ROTJ.
The audio/video content of the eBooks (complete list here) includes the gag reel, behind the scenes stuff and dailies.
There was even more confusion when the people who run the Editdroid LD Facebook group posted clips from the eBook contents on their page.
