Your thread has been removed. It would appear that the book you are promoting is based in the Star Wars universe, and features characters (Han Solo, etc.) that are the property of Disney. It would also appear that your book is unlicensed - i.e. it is effectively fan fiction.

Note that Star Wars is not on the list of licensed "worlds" here: https://kindleworlds.amazon.com/

This forum does not allow the selling of illegal or unlicensed material.

Moth3r's guide to LD capture colour correction using AviSynth (emphasis on "correction")

Well, I finally got around to checking this out. I used the SMPTE color bar pattern on the AVIA DVD and...

Panasonic DMR-ES10 =(s-video)=> Hauppauge USB-Live2 Capture Card gives me surprisingly-close results using all default settings.

...

Question: Will this method help when the values are this close?

Why would you not just rip the DVD?

It just seemed like a war... too wimey not timey enough.

Now this I actually agree with. I would have liked to have seen proper Time Lord weapons - i.e. doing serious damage to the fabric of space and time - not just generic OMG LASER GUNS PEW PEW PEW.

But hey, The Five Doctors had plenty of flaws, but I loved that as well.

I loved it, saw nothing wrong with it, it was Dr Who's Skyfall

No way. I found Skyfall a moderately good action flick, but as a Bond film it is hugely overrated.

I though this special was brilliant, as did everyone I've talked to - apart from Bingo "miserable old git" Wings.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)

Is it fair to say you'd consider banning both accounts if he/she/it/them/they/us weren't working on a potentially important project?  Shouldn't they at least share some proof with you or another mod?

No, that's not fair at all.

What you are working on is irrelevant. ocpmovie was working on a very worthy project, but he broke the no selling rule and was banned without hesitation.

However, if negative1 continues to post from team negative1's account, I will ban his original account.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)

I checked against the PAL '04 DVD, and while it's close, it's not an exact match.

I just don't understand why, if they have really made several watchable versions at different resolutions, nothing has been shared. I don't buy the "we're waiting until we've made a better version" excuse - there's nothing wrong with sharing a V1 then improving on it. If these screenshots are from a scan, they've clearly gone to the trouble of adding in the letterboxing to make this up to 16:9 for anamorphic DVD or HDTV resolutions.

And the bullshit with the accounts annoys me - we try to keep everyone to "one account per person" to make the forum easier to manage. We've got negative1 who hasn't been online since June, "team negative1" who is supposed to be someone else (cinch?), yet it is clear that negative1 has been using his account to post.

I wouldn't say negative1 is batshit crazy, but he's certainly very eccentric - from his idiosyncratic posting style, to his tendency to start something then give up halfway through.

Basically, I'm concerned that many people think these projects are some sort of ultimate preservation effort, and I'm just trying to manage their expectations and give a dose of reality so that they are not disappointed when the project fizzles out without ever having produced anything

We have created and watched several versions of this print in SD, 720p, and HD. All of them look much better than the GOUT.

We have a long way to go before a watchable version will be released.

Personally, I'm yet to see anything to convince me that the shots above are actually from a film print, and not just pulled from the 2004 DVD, re-coloured, then given a generous dose of JPEG compression.

Panasonic NV FS200. Is.. is that incorrect, Moth3r?

I've no idea, just interested.

I know that for VHS, Panasonic and JVC are the leading brands.

I have a JVC SR-S388e, it's a fairly solid semi-pro deck but the built-in TBC sometimes has problems with Macrovision-protected tapes. I did a cap of a PAL tape recently for drngr and the image was jumping all over the place.

Before that, the last cap I did was a tape of my late gran receiving her MBE at Buckingham Palace (which was also Macrovison protected - wonder if I was committing high treason by copying it?). Did a 3-cap median to remove drop outs and it came out pretty nice.

Great idea for a thread. I also now have the Pal equivalent to the AG 1980, I love this machine already.

Capture card reccomendations? I'm stuck at DV now, which is fine, but I'm aware of limitations of the format in regard to colorspace.

As soon as I have my pc back up and running, I'd love to do a couple of tape transfers, and it would be nice to do a "done once and done right" kind of deal.

What is the pal equivalent of the ag1980?
