A fanedit concept: Star Wars movies as a TV series? (* unfinished project *)
Time
As I get into this, I find myself not all that capable of editing the video well. It doesn't help that, with my tools, it's not as easy as editing audio tracks with Audacity. (I only have avidemux and virtual dub.) But certainly, editing audio has been something I've been good at for years.

Right now, I only have a couple ideas. But I like Master Qui-Gon's ideas, they certainly work well with the idea of a modern TV series! I might pick up a few more ideas that way ?

To give it more the look of a TV show, as I may have mentioned, I'm cutting the aspect ratio down to the HDTV 16:9, instead of 2.35:1 - that's not that much of a loss though, for the first decade of my SW experience, except for one viewing each of SW:SE and ROTJ:SE all I had was the fullscreen...

So far my cut is the Donner cut with 3 extensions. (2 from the Lester cut, the 3rd is a deleted scene that you RIC fans may recognize).

Pity the international cuts are FS only and not that great quality. I could really make something out of them.

Here's the list of changes so far:

1. "...what's a curl?" reinstated
2. Non attempting to use heat vision on the snake corpse reinstated
3. Clark bumping into the surly guy coming off the elevator before going to "visit" Rocky at the diner added

I'm cutting this together rather quickly for testing...

btw, I turned the WB logo upside-down and rewrote the logo "Released by Mko Films" instead of "Released by Warner Bros." as a joke

Idea: My prank for April 1
Time
The logo video is from Ghostbusters and audio from an unknown source. (composer Suzanne Ciani) It's a 2.4:1 variant of the original version I did. (That version comes from Care Bears Movie 2) The actual bumper didn't have any music, except in an accidental gaffe, someone apparently put Ciani's music on the bumper, and one Web site said it was a shame this hadn't been used more often, so I recreated it. Couple days ago I got the idea to tack it onto the top of Star Wars (actually my encode of ESB:CE which was the same resolution), then I trimmed it, and shrunk it down to 1/4 size to make it easier to download.

I also thought of using a WB bumper like I'm doing for Superman EOE.

Info: THX Faces set Audio Variations?
Time

I’ve spoken to several people who have THX Faces VHS, either WS or FS. The names I give are what I know them by on IRC.

drfsupercenter’s copy does not have the 3PO line, I have an AVI and confirmed this for myself.
bluesheep’s copy does not have the 3PO line, so he says.
Cyrax9’s copy DOES have the 3PO line, so he says, and I’m quite sure if it weren’t there on the copy I used to have I would have noticed after memorizing the 1985 mix.

I wonder if some copies of the Faces VHS mistakenly had the 1985 mixes instead of the THX mixes?

Both.

Mostly, I think, Donner, with a splash of Lester. As in the Donner cut,

1. No H-bomb; the Hackensack rocket from the first movie breaks the Phantom Zone open (this scene will also be added to Superman 1 EOE)
2. Zod says "FREE!" when broken out of the Phantom Zone
3. Window and gun, not river and fire
4. No or extremely limited telekinesis
5. Non is more of a menace
6. No ice cream sight gag, I might use a couple, but not to the point of corniness
7. No wild goose chase around the Fortress
8. Marlon Brando

But a few scenes do work a bit better in Lester's cut, so I am making a hybrid cut of my own.

This will go hand in hand with the other Superman 2 fan edit I'm doing, as in they will share a good amount of their footage.

I am planning to jockey a couple scenes around, add some footage, delete some footage, and I think I can easily jigger together a coherent Superman 1+2 set that goes together.

The original idea for Superman 1 was to have it end on a cliffhanger with the Phantom Zone being busted open. For the two movies to work together, I have to remove the subplot of Lois dying and Superman turning back time to save her; he'll turn back time in Superman 2 EOE. I managed to remove these scenes and then not notice anything was missing, so it might actually work.
