Ghostbusters: We're Ready to Believe You (* unfinished project *)
Time
On a related topic I have near-DVD-quality, (pretty good quality AVI encoded from DVD-ripped VOBs) music videos for "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. and "On Our Own" by Bobby Brown (the latter is from the mov.2 OST), if anyone wants them. They do have identifying marks for Promo Only (but then, that's comparable to MTV back in the 80s before they started stationbugging).

Pokemon: making the dub more like the original (Released)
Time
One minute clip from Destiny Deoxys English/Japanese comparison (6.4 MB)

Assuming the English version was based on the original masters. we have these 4 changes in the Japan DVD release *in this one minute alone* (which is why I picked this particular clip):

1. Handwritten sign (misspelled "for LaLuze" visible) in the original version was replaced with a computer-drawn sign reading "PARK[...]" and "B-T GARDEN"

2. Handwritten sign (Shopping Pl[az]a) replaced by a 3D computer-drawn sign (in 2 shots)

3. Haruka (May)'s eyes are blue in the original version; the Japanese DVD release shows them as black

4. "STATION" sign redrawn in CG

I wonder if, like Sailor Moon R (a particularly infamous example), the first printings were of a botched or incomplete master, which was then recalled and replaced with the superior version that later appeared on Japanese DVD, while the English-language licensee was given the inferior version.

Given DVDISOs of both versions I may make DVDISOs with dual audio. But no subs, unless someone can provide me with them (and my software doesn't break like it did on Ubuntu!)

Yes, I've heard of the thing with the Pichu Bros. short. I have one Pichu Bros. short in both English and Japanese but I don't think it's the same one. ("Fuusen soudou", or "Balloon Mayhem"; aka Chron 20 "Trouble in Big Town")

I did the same thing to Snow Way Out! I just made up some lines for what I thought they might say in the English version during the match scene in the igloo. I played as James and my sister played as Jessie and I re-arranged Meowth's lines. I have it recorded on VHS somewhere. I also want to dub all of the skipped episodes into English.

Doesn't everyone...

Also, I have the Japanese R2 DVDs of the first 3 movies which have selectable English or Japanese dubs. Those are pretty cool not only because of the audio, but also the fact that they are widescreen, unlike the US releases. The First Movie also has the complete Mewtwo's Origin that plays before the movie, and no glitch that has Bulbasaur? appear twice during the opening credits. Movie 2000 has an extra scene with Tracey describing why the explosion is about to happen. When viewed with English audio, this scene has no audio and a subtitle "NO SOUND IN ENGLISH VERSION". I'd like to re-dub that scene as well.

I have them too, and the music may be extractable from the Japanese 5.1 stream.

Except for the first movie, all PAL releases of the movies are widescreen. (But not necessarily the shorts; German mov.6 DVD has the short in fullscreen and the feature in widescreen, for example.)

I don't think the rest of the movies have dual audio releases. I'm trying to find a widescreen copy of the English version of movie 4, since I hear there were additional scenes animated for the English release that are not on the Japanese DVD.

Get the PAL version (see above). I'll probably have an AVI of it soon.

Movies 6-9, while not dual audio, are pretty much uncut, and I have resynched the English audio to the Japanese versions. Movie 9 even got widescreen here in the US, complete with the Toho bumper.

The only official English release that I know of contains English and Japanese audio is the GameCube game Pokemon Channel.

I think I've heard of that.

XD

I'll see what I can do about subbing those eps, though I'm trying to work in order. (The first such episode, "Aopulco Vacation", is still 15 eps away.)

Episode 2 is still seeded (tracker at po.zdebel.com reports 2 seeds, 0 peers), episode 1 torrent wasn't reloaded and was long dead anyway. I can see how to get you the file(s) - IM, temporary ddl, dunno.
