IIRC, he's *too* legit.

avidemux and auto gordian knot might be easier?
This. I refuse to pay for piracy above and beyond the $80 a month I pay for my connection.
Perhaps it's because 35s ain't exactly cheap and easy to come by...
I've gotten back to thinking about this, and I might be able to pull some stuff off, but I've run into a few possible gotchas.
1. In several places (esp. ep.3, 9, 66) lines will need to be rerecorded because of changes in the animation.
2. Episodes 9, 18, 66, 78, 101, 110 feature actual cuts; it's possible other episodes after 160 also have cuts. (The original series is 276 episodes)
3. 35, 38 and 252 were never released here. (38 would need to be re-edited anyway, some scenes need to be dropped to 12 fps) They would need full dubs if they are to be included.
4. Some scenes, e.g., the "Viridian City" sequence in episode 78, would need to be redubbed so as to be able to remix the music properly (there is actually an English version of the song playing in the Japanese version - it's Type:WILD, English version is by a "Robbie Danzie".)
5. A couple new "Who's That Pokémon?" would need to be recorded, e.g., Slowpoke, Obaba (!), Daruma (!), and a few others, to make up for the fact that some were changed for the US release.
6. OPEDs apart from "Type:WILD" (recorded in English by Robbie Danzie) and "Meowth's Party" (recorded in English by Maddie Blaustein, Eric Stuart and Rachel Lillis) would have to be in Japanese unless someone dared to do English versions... I defy anyone to do an English version of Pokémon Hara-Hara-Hara-Hara Relay (Muzukashiban) ! Another possibility is the "splice" - I managed to make the 3rd US theme fit quite well over the original unedited Japanese footage.
7. Movies? Maybe, but prolly not. 2, 4 and 5 need work ... especially 4 would need extensive work. 1 and 3 need none.
I prefer PAL speedup to PAL telecine since I can just punch "-speed 23.976/25" into MPlayer and reverse PAL speedup.
*RUNS*
*sigh*
So I guess I need to find a laserdisc of it. How many editions are there? Hopefully only one, or maybe one each CAV/CLV from the same release?
NTSC vobs needn't be telecined...a lot of R1s I own are 23.976 fps
...so is there a good non-VHS source for the original audio mix :(?
EditDroid?
Wow, that file is too rich for MY computer, and I can manage to play 720p without dropping frames.
It's incomplete, though
There was a LD that corresponded to the 1995 VHS. I'm sure the Faces Laser would kill the Faces VHS with death.
One of the discs had "The Power of Love" pv on it. Prolly BTTF1.

fan projects and preservations should never be sold period.
The best thing to do and put the guy out of business is accquire one set and then pif them free of charge except for b+p, and put it up on the newsgroups and the torrent sites.
unless they are printed on gold plated dvd's or all dual layer discs whatever price the guy sells them for short of a few bucks to cover blanks and postage is highway robbery.
You can get a 50 rack of taiyo yuden sl for next to nothing these days if you win a cheap auction on ebay like me. i paid about 15 bucks.
I find it funny that the 60's movie is getting released on blu ray and the tv show the movie belongs to is not even on dvd.
Any more than media and media rate postage is overkill, imho.
I've seen their CDs and DVDs arr-mateyed but I've never seen the real thing.
Not sure if this would better fall under requests/howtos/tech discussion.
This is the US version of the 5th Pokémon movie. It’s not that badly done despite the first couple minutes being a bit of a hackjob, but there’s a BIG problem.
I have (copies of) a widescreen PAL R2 and the Japanese R2 for this movie. The dub stills are from the NTSC R1 which is pan and scan, since it was quicker to use AVIs. The problem should become readily apparent: The dub video is BLUECAST! (This is a problem on the PAL DVD as well.)
The stills here are scaled to 25%. Here are the unresized ones.
I’m still thinking what would be the best way to handle this, as apparently an Equalizer or HSV won’t do the job alone. Most likely I’ll try to color fix the title and credits, fly in the replaced footage where I can find it/fix it where not, recreate the fade, and then use Japanese footage for most of it?
Ah, double tracking...
