You said MKV vs. AVCHD, not 14 GB MKV vs. 9 GB AVCHD.

I don't know. All I know is they're in good shape and delogoable. In the worst case they could perhaps be merged with another source.
Not if the MKV is encoded for dvd5 or dvd9 size, then it's the same amount of compression.
THREAD NECROMANCY !!!!!
A friend of mine capped an episode off the satellite feed of ITV4. Knock on wood, hopefully between my two friends who can pick up this station we can get a bunch of episodes.
It's in very good condition, and mostly progressive. Both my friends can cap this digitally, one from OTA and the other from dish. There's a station logo, but as it is static and very faint, we have been able to remove it without visible damage (using a transparency mask delogoer, not a warp delogoer).
Knock wood. If I can get the eps I'm going to try to downconvert them to NTSC and make isos, while my friend in Belgium works on MKVs.
MKV is mostly useful for fansubs (because it has powerful support for subtitle features thanks to ASS and forced UTF-8). That is one of the main reasons the fansub communities use it.
Of course fansubs are also piracy, but I don't get into that because I think the goal of getting a good show in front of more eyes is worth the risk!
I did get an invite, though your mailserver rejected my reply because it didn't like the host I sent it from. (I have changed servers since before, but transparently.)
Just mentioning I'm still interested but can't e-mail back to accept that way.
O___________O
If it's 16mm, mb talk to Puggo?
It's hard so that it's harder for Lucasfilm et al. to shut us down.
Eh. Looks like my reply bounced because Comcast doesn't like my mailserver.
IIRC, some of the SE changes were reverted for the HD versions. (e.g., the Stuttering Beast)
Yeah. Actually, I was gonna have a friend author it, and nothing came of it.
I got the mail, though haven't replied yet.
It's gonna be hard to top cinema DTS.
Such a flag does exist, at least.
It's not at all crazy.
30 can usually be rolled back to 24.
CapableMetal's encode synchs exactly (as far as my eyes and ears can tell me) to msycamore's m2v. I made an AC3 in Aften because Mainconcept choked on the FLAC, but it seems to have come out a bit loud relative to a "proper" 5.1 AC3.
I also OCR'd the 2004 subs and synched them - to see how well they'd work. (Don't mind the quality, this is a test encode)
I swear I remember the video using Helvetica Bold for subs instead of the usual Alternate Gothic...am I misremembering?
Besides that DVDs can't handle 24.000?
And for the record I'd like to give encoding a whack just for practice, just because the last DVD set I released (XP77 Beta) was a piece of junk and I'd like to make amends for it. xD
GOUT = George's Original Unaltered Trilogy - the 2006 bonus DVDs.
I use Imgur.
I was under the impression he'd gotten mad and left.
It's up on Nyaa.
I'll try to have a torrent of my raw cap up somewhere this evening. Probably Nyaa.
A lot of people have been badgering me for this, so I'm going to try to read a cap I have here and upload...
