Apparently there's an Avisynth filter called "TimeStretch" that can do it? No idea if it's any good.

Huh, I'd just use Aegisub/TextSub/Avisynth for that. o.o;

Could some of the color, perhaps, be interpolated?

I got enough juice for basic cleanup but probably not for the real heavy stuff. :/

BTW, a possible reason GISSIRI and DOSSARI are left alone in the DB subs has to do with how they're written in the lyrics (yes, I think it's ridiculous; Simmons somewhat repeated the practice in DBGT too with the DAN DAN and ZEN ZEN).

We believe the DB opening and ending may have actually been translated by Simmons rather than Mandelin.

Both translators have done DAN DAN kokoro hikareteku; Mandelin's translation can be found at the end of Path to Power.

I think everything Streamline did eventually got redubbed at least once.

The AB dub (by Ocean) of 123+ is based on the same scripts and masters as the TV edit of the Funimation dub, but does have further tweaks.

That said, you'll have one hell of a time finding it complete. I don't have it complete, for example; several eps are missing recaps and/or previews, some are even missing chunks of the episode proper, and some are nearly unwatchable due to low audio quality.

I fansubbed a good chunk of the second DBK run with a couple friends (we went on to join a couple other fansubbers to do DBS), so so far as Baaro DBK exists, it's probably the best choice for that. ;)

The Funimation dub of DBGT is technically superior, but the Ocean dub (apart from the OPEDs) is more accurate to the Japanese and is the original English dub.

ETA: Far as I know there's no official translation of DBS yet. Get the Dragon Team subs. (And not only because I was the encoder =P)

No, that's not what it was about. I needed them for Rock the Dragon itself, the opening (which Funi continued to use until episode 107).

I got World's Strongest and Tree of Might UUE, and that covers all but two shots covering 2 1/8 seconds (and I don't see a problem with dropping to the RTD box for that short a length of time if I can't get Dead Zone, seeing as I already drop to RTD for the logo since I don't have the skills to reanimate it).

But looking at the way they handle their own films suggests that they'll probably just make a fake OTV out of a SE, the way they did with Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King.

I suspect they'll more likely try to deconstruct the 1997 versions (or the 2011 versions) than rescan the OTVs. This is Disney we're talking about.

I've got Ginyu Assault (30 minute version) rebuilt complete with NEP, except that I need to finish rebuilding the OP, and typeset the credits onto the ED.

At this point I've got the UUE Tree of Might and am trying to obtain the UUE Dead Zone/World's Strongest to use to re-cut "Rock the Dragon" with.

I've got a TV edit of Ginyu Assault (Funi's first ep without Saban and Ocean), with NEP, from CNNZ, but with the recap missing; and an R4 rip of the recap (!) which for some reason is missing from the R1.  I also have the base episode from R1. So I was thinking of cutting something together.

I generally watch sub.

For Z, all English versions base off the same scripts (except DBK, which is more accurately dubbed).

For DB, I think the Blue Water dub is from French. I only really watched in Japanese.

For GT, the Blue Water dub is the superior one, based (I think) directly on the studio translations, and adapted faithfully, unlike Funimation's major rewrite.  (DBK was dubbed by Okratron, not by Funimation proper.)

Personally, I'd watch the original DB, then switch to DBK.  DBK is a trimmer version of DBZ - and so far as it's been dubbed, it's a better dub than the DBZ dub.

There are fortunately not many changes in terms between the Japanese and English versions, and most of the differences between the R1 subs and the dub are a matter of orthography ("Freeza" vs. "Frieza" for example).

DBZ is a right mess, and that's just over the episodes that got the same dub in all English-speaking countries. :/

They're up, DBZ 108-117, the first English dubbing.

Going through these episodes, and comparing the original dub with the version on the Orange Bricks and the Dragon Box, shows that not only did they replace the narration (and later reinstate the Japanese score) but they also redubbed a few characters major and minor.  I haven't compared the performances.  Also I think the BGM placement may be slightly different in some places.

The first R1 release mostly reflects this dub.  There was a missing "stay tuned for scenes from the next episode of DBZ" at the end of 114.  Also most of the previews are missing.  I took all but one (which I didn't have) from footage a contact in New Zealand provided me.  The remaining preview is from one of retroccn's rips and is noticeably lower quality (though I attempted to mask it somewhat by equalizing the soundtrack over top of it).

Just finished reconstructing some Funi eps (the Garlic Jr. arc, 108-117) as they originally dubbed them.  I'll have them up on Nyaa in a few hours when they're uploaded to my seedbox.

Sure. There's 2 filters for that that I know of (TextSub and AssRender).
