Oh my god.
I love that kind of red cake.

So, VH-1 Behind the Music, Star Wars style?
Rogue One, but every character is an Ugnaut.
Sometimes I think I’m losing my mind when there are so many TLJ complaints, but that gif from The Hobbit: Battle for Whatever reminds me what a bad movie really is. Good god what a waste.
I realise it’s not the “real” thing like the old ROTS sub but it’s still pretty funny. I also just found a bunch for screens from TFA given the same treatment.

Wait how did I not know about this before, there’s a new Backstroke of the West. And it’s beautiful.
Mark should have got an Oscar nomination at least. He’s always had the acting chops. If not for the shadow of Luke hanging over him in the 80’s, he could have been cast in the Amadeus film after doing the role on Broadway.
It’s easily the best performance I’ve seen from him. Kinda weird that he still has sour grapes about the direction considering how great the role was, but then I guess if you look at the full quote he understands how lucky he is to have gotten another crack it at all. Another trilogy with the old cast as the stars was never gonna happen at this point, and if it did, it would have probably sucked.
Agreed.
That’s window dressing. I’m talking actual movie. I’m talking about George’s imaginary “it was the fall of Vader all along” plot, which is up there with “I created this all myself and it was always one vision”.
The films doesn’t need anything to do with Anakin or Vader, something that is so played out and over done that it’s a toy selling joke at this stage. The tragedy of Vader gimme a break.
I’ve always assumed the tragedy of Vader was the entire saga.
I’ve always presumed this was a BS retcon.

What we do need however is a ghost or vision of some kind. I’m thinking Kylo seeing the past, and feeling regret. He dreams about his parents and his uncle. Something he buried under all the rage. And then he realises he screwed up. Get all three classic main characters in one last scene, something special. Then he can die.
Creeped out?
That is far and away the best fan film I’ve ever seen.
Are you saying it isn’t a lightsaber duel in search of a plot?
I gotta admit this aspect of it is pretty impressive. Was this story ever told somewhere in the old EU?
It is extremely interesting though, isn’t it? How some fans now would be begging for George to have a hand at the script, when that idea would be a joke 10 years ago.
Since ROTS the prequels have slowly mutated from just movies, into ideas of movies, to ideas of memes. Now the internet has absorbed the whole thing and slowly spews out Palpatine image macros that have no relevance to the actual reality of movies that are below average at best. Meanwhile George’s position as “genius creator” remains unchallenged in a way that many will believe his now Disney branded version of events. Interesting? Maybe. But not surprising. People are weird and fickle.
Budgets and opportunities to use them aren’t handed out to risky ventures… but it’s better if there is some risk allowed.
I don’t think that the “Ruin Johnson” crowd are that big to be honest, and looking at the Blu-ray sales I think it’s all blown way out of proportion. He was clearly brought on board as the Irvin Kershner creative type to create the “new ESB”, and while that kind of corporate think tank approach is questionable I enjoyed the results. They’ve given him more to do within the franchise because they must like the results, and people at LFL must like working with him. And he didn’t get fired or questioned before the final cut.
I cannot speak for everyone.
Uhuh. Yeah?
It’s a cool choice, they have a nice profile that adds to the lines in the composition.
Yeah I think we talked about that before, it’s really tinny for some reason.
The Last Jedi soundtrack isn’t as bombastic as the OT or PT, but it’s really atmospheric and moody.
Rose’s theme is solid and everything from The Battle of Crait to the end is amazing.
The overall number of standout themes was mediocre for TFA but there was some new material at least. TLJ barely changes up what came before. Rey’s theme is pretty good but the tunes for the Resistance, Kylo Ren and Rose are just lacklustre at best. In the original trilogy the variety in each film was incredible (especially ESB which is one of my favourite scores of all time) so I don’t get it. The standout themes in every film since TFA are always the OT music. At the Battle of Crait it’s so dull until TIE Fighter Attack kicks in and the whole sense of action in the scene is immediately boosted.
Does anyone else watch Boundary Break?
Anything from Christmas in the Stars puts a smile on my face
It’s… fine? There’s a lot of jarring moments that highlight just how disjointed the old and new is personally.
Is Tunisia even viable for film crews these days? As for this (vaguely rumoured) show I can’t imagine them spending a lot on location shooting of any kind. The Mandalorian is just being shot in California from what I’ve read.
What’s the TL;DR version
I hope we never see anything prequel or Special Edition related. But a Disney push to sell the whole thing as one big product wouldn’t be surprising after the nonsensical Maul scene in Solo.
