OK what’s up with the double posts…
OK what’s up with the double posts…
Still looks like the Evil Dead II logo though…
Considering the state of the franchise, that’s rather fitting, no?
An evil presence inhabiting the rotten bodies of our old friends? XD
The original versions are white in the Ralph McQuarrie art too, back when they weren’t even Jedi weapons.
Oh I recognise these model creation videos, they’re pretty neat. Keep it up.
Interesting little visual tribute to what I believe was one of the very first SW images shown to the public.
Or the Holiday Special
You’d just have to remake the whole thing, get 30 people and have them do a few scenes each in the style of Our RoboCop Remake.
I think there’s a difference between what might be “true” fans who would say Disney SW isn’t real SW and “hardcore” fans who just enjoy SW. I don’t consider myself in either of these camps though, since I don’t care for the ultra gritty grey style of the spinoff media but will go see TROS… even though I don’t have much hope for it.
Hah he’s also right back in his place after the Han/Leia reaction shot, so I guess they used two takes.

At this point I hope the tail doesn’t wag the dog; I hope they craft a fitting end to the trilogy as it is by this point, rather than moving away from their trajectory in paranoid reaction to perceived backlash.
I do wonder to what degree Palpatine is the sincere (potentially planned all along) conclusion of the story that’s developed, or corporate decision in reaction to what was done with TLJ.Well considering the return of Palpatine would have been the ultimate cliffhanger for TLJ, and the first hint for his return was in a trailer for this film, which clearly indicates, they don’t consider it some big reveal in TROS, I would say it wasn’t planned at all.
His theme was in TLJ though, so if we presume John Williams has a say in all this he might have known.
So I rewatched that “SC 38 Reimagined” lightsaber duel for the first time since it was released, just to see if it was as bad as I remembered. Boy howdy, was it ever. And fans actually like this overwrought crap? And want it edited into the movie proper?
The same fans who think the Vader attack in Rogue One is the best scene in the franchise.
The Phantom Menace didn’t get color-correction supervised by James Cameron.
Although someone approved that DNR.
I guess they had more creative differences than RJ who I guess is still on board until we hear otherwise.
Really? I thought it was just since TFA, which like I said in the other Disney+ thread (and when TFA art first appeared) just looks like Evil Dead II to me. A weird bug but I can’t shake it.
I don’t think that Titanic would get a teal tint to it, it was mastered at 4K and Dolby Vision so I don’t think it’ll ever get a teal color grade
The standard 1080p Blu-ray already has a teal tint compared to the original DVD release. The colors were altered for the 3D release in 2012.
Uh yeah exactly it already happened.
Interesting that the Boris poster art got reused that way. Wonder if it was done with permission? How did they even alter the poster art in the pre digital era?
X-acto blades and an airbrush probably
Still looks like the Evil Dead II logo though…
When the Original Trilogy makes its way to 4K, it will, without a doubt, be the 2011 Special Edition. However, do you think it’s possible that Disney and Lucasfilm will at least correct both the colors and sound mixes to match the theatrical presentations and sound far less compressed?
It’s going to be from an entirely newer scan of the negative, so they’ll have to redo the color-correction anyway.
As for the sound mix, your guess is as good as mine.
True, but I do believe they did a good clean up on the original negatives back when the first Special Edition in 1997 was done.
How is that relevant to color correcting the new xfer?
Because they could go back to the prints that were cleaned up for the 1997 re-releases as the main source for the 4K remaster, as well as the inclusion of the 2004/2011 changes. The only thing that I seriously hope does not happen is that a teal effect is added to the already incorrect color grading of the trilogy. I’ve noticed for 4K remasters of older films that an apparent teal effect is applied to the picture for unknown reasons. Some good examples include Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the older Batman movies.
Well T2 is a James Cameron effort the same as Aliens and inevitably The Abyss. All of them are now a teal nightmare he supervised personally.
Unless there’s another version out there, the one I’ve seen is so fuzzy it’s hard to say if Palpy is in the flesh or not. The fakes of Kylo a year or so back at an unknown location looked better than this.
I think a lot of people here are refusing to see the obvious, and hoping for the moon. Both the trailer, and the leaked images of the last few days have confirmed many of the plot leaks, that have been going around for a while now. Palpatine is back in the flesh. He’s hooked up to some machine early in the film, as seen in the trailer, and foretold by the leaks months before the trailer was released:
A lot of people don’t want to believe Palpatine is back, because it doesn’t make much sense from the perspective of ROTJ, and I get it, but I think the nay sayers should be prepared for a dose of disappointment, and hope for a good explanation in the film for Palpatine’s return.
To be honest I wasn’t sure if this cloak belonged to Evil Rey or something, but I don’t know what the rumours were.
Taking away importance from the episode number and making it look like a seamless whole. Good idea for the branding.
I think we’re glossing over the important element here… there are 5 Ford Sierras up for grabs
Physical as a visible spirit/vision or actually just alive though? Hmm…
