All three have errors. I think it’s supposed to be an intentional mixture of elements but to be honest it just looks wrong.

If Kylo wasn’t dead it would be good to see what else he might go through. Imagine if the next wise old teacher archetype was him. I would care more about bringing Rey back if she wasn’t now powered by evil super-blood.

These days blockbuster films don’t stand the test of time for a year or two, never mind 4 or 5 decades. Things are not as good as they were and it’s not just nostalgia. Realistically speaking most big popcorn movies barely reach the level of ROTJ, and never the heights the other two. But the truth is most films just get a pass if they follow the Donner Superman structure and have a few gags. In today’s climate people are actually way less critical and gladly eat up most franchises. Rabid hardcore groups don’t count as average movie goers.

Disney just released a censored version of Lilo & Stitch. There’s nothing reasonable about them.

Disney frequently enjoys keeping movies they own locked away, and they’re certainly not in the business of releasing old versions of anything.

Yeah this is where I learned what non-anamorphic meant. Terrible. Though it was what it was at the time.

Agreed absolutely. Why would Luke bother to force crush a dark trooper instead of easily cutting it up, if not to demonstrate his own power? (And yes, I know the actual explanation for that is ‘It looks cool’) The Mandalorian’s Luke also compliments TLJ Luke by showing Luke’s effort to find students, and his saying “I will give my life to protect the child” - when he ultimately, indirectly, caused the deaths of his own students by mishandling Ben’s training - makes his self-hatred over that more powerful. I only wish Dave Filoni would talk about TLJ Luke in relation to his appearance in The Mandalorian, that might shut up a lot of people.

I think this analysis is Ironic, because people only bring up this narrative when discussing Luke, no one else in the force. Luke is the only one that is not allowed to show power, Anakin should, Obi wan, Yoda, and even the newbies - Rey and Kylo, showcasing immense abilities despite their lack of training. Everyone enjoys those, but when its Luke - ‘Hold on!’

Not really. Especially with Yoda. The Force should be used for knowledge and defence, I think someone said that somewhere.

Really interesting to see which elements that make it feel more alive, especially the given time and budget restrictions. The wig though hahah.

Oh I totally get what they were going for in the movie, but they should have just named a Jedi Academy after him something. Instead of a random old lady in the middle of nowhere (on foot!) it should be an eager new recruit checking out a newly opened temple. Then again I would have had Kylo not die and then he’d be the one wandering into the desert to search for his own true self. Y’know like in a good script.

Yeah but that comes out of nowhere and isn’t a fitting conclusion to what began in The Force Awakens. She needed to grow past the shallow need to fit in and have a father figure, and become a whole person. Instead it’s just regression.

The way it merges with the vocals in the credits is beautiful. The rest is fine since it’s a fantasy movie from 1983. It’s not supposed to sound like something from a lame pan-pipes compilation played in a New Age gift shop in 1997.

Rey accepting herself for who she is instead of just pretending to be Luke’s long lost daughter would be a logical end to the character arc instead of just nonsense.

How can you not like it when it’s dark a gritty and Darth Vader gets out his red lightsaber.
