Here’s the thing… no movies are made for kids. Film makers (and their financiers) have to cater to paying adults whether they’re parents or not. Star Wars like almost everything else within the fantasy genre is a family film; occasionally scary or anxiety inducing, but generally suitable for viewers that can comprehend the plot. Toddlers without serious faculties shouldn’t be watching it. It’s a fine line that shouldn’t be crossed. You can’t just add things like extended scenes of clowning, toilet humour, and a bunch of stereotypical foreign accents and say that’s how it’s always been. You can’t try and refute criticism by saying only an adult would made those kind of comments.

Yeah they say that but realistically it’s more costly to need so many security measures, the guards, and all the prison transports, the legal systems, the secrecy, when droids and are so easily available that entire armies across the whole galaxy existed a few years ago. I’m not trying to tear down the storyline which was very good, but it’s just not something that I think holds up to much scrutiny.

Yeah that stuff is pretty odd considering Leia was a leader for the Echo Base and logically would never go out with the grunts. Does George even know what a General is? Why would Han Solo be like Patton or something… then again why was Obi-wan given that rank pre-PT? I wonder if he ever planned an explanation at all. The scale is also so weird compared to the ESB battle, why are there are no air speeders or bombers to give a wider picture of everything. They’re all just in a clearing with a few AT-STs wandering about, there’s no obvious direction to the two opposing forces.

The last few surviving SW grifters can easily be ignored though. Ridiculous Jedi Council style hype shows (and their polar opposites) are just a sign of the times and the broader social media circus as a whole. Something is always “trending” or stirring up a reaction somewhere, so who cares?

I wouldn’t think so hard about it, after all slave labour in a universe filled with robot workers is nonsense to begin with.

You only have to see how many different grades Jurassic Park has over the years to see what a mess things are.

As for the silent movie thing, I don’t know why director’s say that kind of thing. Like George Miller wanted a b&W silent edition of Fury Road to match the dailies. Really? In a movie so heavily reliant on music and heavy colour contrast? Try telling Ben Burtt that SW was “always intended” that way.

Yeah the Maclunkey versions look de-saturated. I’ve tried watching them just out if curiosity on streaming but after seeing the fan restorations it’s impossible.

This was a really cool edition at the time, I’m not sure where the last twenty years have gone. Looking back the magenta skin, the magenta sabers, and all the other fuck ups and special edition 2.0 changes were awful though. Even the shiny silver box was hiding some poorly composed artwork.

And have him sitting in a chair, but not showing his face, like they did with Blofeld in the earlier James Bond movies.

Back in the day the original soundtracks were on cassette before the whole 1997 incident. Can’t recall what exactly was on them but Lapti’Nek and Ewok Celebration are listed if you check it out. Thing is… I have a feeling they’re not the film versions for some reason. I’m not sure on your last question, I feel like people over time had resorted to cleaning up the audio to get the music out, which didn’t work that well.

Cool I guess, shame it will have basically no impact.

The scope and production looks better in the new trailer, but jeez these lines and the acting are poor.

There are elements of it there Luke wearing all black, being tempted to the dark side. But it is also way too light and silly. I feel like ROTJ and the Last Crusade have a similar special effects problem where they had to create a lot more sequences but without more time to perfect them, so there are bad blue screens, matte paintings etc.

An actual Galactic Civil War shooter would have been nice, instead of those EA Battlefront games… then again anything is possible with the license. The only limit is the “AAA” mould everything is stuck with nowadays. Mods for Jedi Academy or total conversions of other games do exist I guess.

All the Dark Forces sequels are shooters really though, just with magic and swords, which already existed in various Doom clones as they used to be called.

It wasn’t entirely devoid of laughs. Characters like Syril’s mother or his corporate security colleague lent it humour. You can have some gags without it turning into mugging and cringe inducing lines like the ST.

“Not me. I can survive in space.” - after the human crew members lament the possibility of dying in space.

See I find the first one works and the second doesn’t, they just need to find a balance.

Looking for deals I came across Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire on the PS4 and PS5 store… was this just dropped in there as a PS1 title like The Phantom Menace with no advertising?

Kinda neat but also AI garbage, so there it is. If someone actually used their imagination and talent to design these I’d show some appreciation.

Who can say if it will be worth seeing, but the foundation for any potential Episode X is very shaky to say the least.
