George Lucas jealous of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars?

Is this an opinion that you espouse or a quote?

If it weren't for the fact that I know George Lucas better, and the fact that I know he doesn't have the attention span to carry out such a long-term vendetta, I'd almost call his mistreatment of Empire deliberate.

Why not? I'd make sense.

Perhaps his desire to make money and turn Star Wars into a money-making franchise is the external expression of his inner hatred for Empire Strikes back. It was his initial and only lasting criticism of the film, and now it's as if his desire to be right (in the end) is actually destroying what was best about it. It suddenly seems more than coincidence to me (at the moment at least). Perhaps it's so easy to believe that George Lucas hates Empire because he really does deep down.

What do you mean? I am totally lost.

Starwars.com survey

The cynical part of me begs you to remember, "the happy fan is the fan who has everything he or she needs." You could at least give them the idea that you'll go back to buying something at all Star Wars related after you have the remastered movies.

If I get the remastered movies, I WILL buy other things; just not until then. If I DID get that, there are all kinds of things that I would love to buy.

why do you make an exception for Indy IV

To be honest, mostly for social reasons; it'll be a great movie to see going out with friends, etc. and it does relate to Star Wars quite as directly.

I'd also say that unless the OOT gets a release that it deserves, I am not buying any more Star Wars or Lucasfilm tickets, DVD, comic-books, novels, trading card, action figures, models, toys, games, home video releases, CDs, magazines, video games, graphic novels or any other products. With the exception of Indy IV, I'm not.

Absolutely! That's what I asked for in the last comment section. "I want the original Star Wars trilogy without the special edition add-ons in an anamorphic video DVD". Everybody needs to do something to that effect. I didn't mention audio because I don't care which audio mix we get, though we'd probably get them all if they ever did release it.

MENTION EVERYTHING! As we've seen, unless we draw everything is crayon, Lucasfilm just don't get it.

We should martial the member the sight together for an attack on this survey .

that is not necessarily true because blu ray and HD-DVD can offer bonus materials traditional dvd's can't.

Like picture in picture commentaries on the HD-dvd of heroes and star trek remastered.

I know quite a number of people who will be buying the HD-DVD version of heroes over the traditional dvd set because it is the decked out version.

The biggest roadblock i see for either of the two competing HD formats is earlier and classic movies needing to be scanned at HD resolutions and have cleaned up prints or go back to the camera o-negs.

The only viable films I see at the moment would be the recent lowry/dts digital 4k scan of the bond movies that is only on dvd, the 2k scan they did of both the indiana jones movies and the 2004 edition of star wars trilogy.

X-men 1 and 2 the only good ones are not on HD-DVD or blu ray and the lame part III is.

we are getting close encounters and blade runner on the HD spec, and dick donners original superman is on HD as well, though it may be the 2000 cut.

because of the lawsuit of Peter Jackson and weta vs new line we will not see those movies on HD anytime soon. new line broke the profit sharing agreement, and peter will block them from releasing the films on HD in 2008 or 2009 with an injunction because they at weta still have yet to recieve there monies from lotr.

also because of the greedy suits at new line peter's hobbit movie will never see the light of day. The morons are going to do it with an entire new cast and trying to get sam raimi to direct it. Ian Mckellen said hewould only be in the film with a proviso that p.j. directs it.

Very few people buy DVDs, today, for the bonus content. Myself and my techie friends are probably the only people I know who actually watch the bonus content and the commentaries. Nobody else I know does that.

It looks like you're basing your opinion on the Hobbit movie, PJ, and New Line on old news. http://www.the-hobbit-movie.com/

Please god, if Jackson directs, I swear I will be so happy.

The matter is far from closed, according to some suits at MGM, who own part of the property, and Raimi is comitted to Spider-Man 4, so that's all up in the air. Maybe, just maybe, god will smile upon me and my fool's hope will come true. I doubt it though. But let's get back on topic.

I get it. Don't like to wish death on anybody though :-(

Personally I hope GL has many happy years to come and he doesn't get done in by diabetes or anything. Heck maybe he'll even have a change of heart over the next dew years, realise his directorial failures and let somebody talented do the next ones :-)

Yeah, really, I'd rather NOT get the OOT if the condition is Lucas leaving the earth; I mean, seriously, how sad would it be if a person had to die so that I could get some DVDs that I wanted?

Oh, and guys?

There is still some, well, I wouldn't call it evidence but maybe signs that the OOT will get remastered eventually. The new making of star wars and the forthcoming making of empire and jedi books are one. Lucas' good friend Spielberg releasing an ultimate dvd of close encounters is another.

I'm starting to feel the same way, Fang Zei.

Are there going to be 'making of' books for ESB and Jedi?

We can only hope so.
