Aren’t there like four of those?
Aren’t there like four of those?
Yes, a film written and directed by a man who literally called the Special Editions the “cartoon versions” was definitely made with a veiled anti-OOT message.
Can’t we keep the TLJ bitching confined to the TLJ threads?
Sadly, his opinion matters not.
-The ability to erase memories. If I could get rid of the ones that started this whole snowballing mess, I might not be in such a dark place.
-Peace of mind.
-A job which doesn’t make me beg for death.
-The courage to make some changes, any changes, which could improve my life.
-The balls to listen to my therapists when they give me good advice.
-My passions back. I feel so numb to the world. I used to voraciously devour so much of what I love. Now I can barely muster the energy to do things.
-The ability to stabilize my crisis of faith and be comfortable around religion like I used to instead of having it trigger these attacks.
-The chance to see my family and give them my gifts (I’ll actually be getting this!).
I’m really not want for any material things, thigh I can think of some I’d like. I’d much prefer to have spiritual comfort, a little serenity, and the ability to control my own thoughts again, and the courage to fix my life. Though I would like the technical knowhow to burn myself those Despecialized Blu-rays 😉.
PS: Can I have a personal gibbering Minion?
A.I.: Artificial Intelligence- One of the most fascinating films I’ve ever seen, a fusion of two filmmakers from totally opposite ends of the spectrum. One of Stanley Kubrick’s final projects, finished by Steven Spielberg, a widely divisive blend of the former’s iciness and the latter’s supposed sentimentalism. I’m not entirely sure what I think of it.
Like Kubrick’s 2001, it’s structured as a sort of four-act storyline. I’ve read quite a bit about it, and have confess that I still haven’t fully sorted out my own feelings about it, but I can’t deny it’s a fascinating piece of work.
The deal is expected to take a year until it actually closes, so I’m assuming the rights to I-VI won’t formally pass to Disney until then.
There’s still apparently a lot of work to be done and tons of opposition politically and legally. I’m not saying Disney won’t do it, but it sounds like it’s a long, uphill battle for them.
God, I hope he’s OK too!
I take it Minions isn’t a very cromulent work of filmmaking?
If you like the Minions’ shtick, you might enjoy it. If they irritate you-and I know many people loathe them-then stay far away, because their sidekick routine from the Despicable Me movies proper is cranked up to feature length. Personally, I had fun with it. It’s a glorified toy commercial, no question, but the Minions make me laugh, so…
Would this be Kosher
NO.
Pablo Hidalgo said on Twitter that one man is responsible for the original versions not being released, so it’s possible Lucas had some clause in the contract with Disney that prevents them from releasing the originals.
This horrific thought has kept me up many a night. When I asked him, he replied “I think they respect his wishes,” which hopefully means that’s why and not a contractual clause.
Dammit. Ah, well, at least I asked this time. Good to know 😉.
I just kind of wonder what the thought process is regarding U.S. adaptations of anime is; they’re at best niche properties in the U.S. In Japan, I can see actual commercial gain, but I just can’t imagine the appeal being very big with mainstream U.S. audiences.
The Stand by Stephen King. Wow, this is long.
Which version are you reading?
I’m now reading Cline’s Ready Player One.
Good luck with that. I couldn’t get past his pages-long soul-crushing tirade about how the idea of God is stupid, that he’s smart for realizing it, and then goes back to lamenting how pointless life is and at least he has Family Ties reruns to keep him busy.
I don’t know Cline’s own personal religious views (I think he’s an atheist), but I found the scene in the book more than ramblings of an angry adolescent who’s sort of mad at the world than any particular statement about religion. In any case, it’s just a book.

The unabridged version. I finally finished it. What an unbelievably disappointing ending. I’m now reading Cline’s Ready Player One.

I enjoyed that. Just don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a fun guilty pleasure, nerd out, type of thing.
It’s fun up to a point.
I can see by your eyes you must be lying
When you think I don’t have a clue
Baby you’re crazy
If you think that you can fool me
Because I’ve seen that movie too
Elton John
Would this be Kosher since they’re only-allegedly offering payment for the materials and not the films themselves, or should Harmy be notified? Perhaps I feel the need to do a little penance.
NOTE: I bought NOTHING. I will certainly never err that way again. I’m just wondering.
When can we expect Disney to buy Paramount so the next Indiana Jones Film has the Paramount logo?? 😉 KIDDING, kidding!
I’d settle for Paramount finally cooperating with Movies Anywhere…
Expect that to be a term of Disney’s negotiation.
What do the two have to do with one another?
This is torturous.
Dun-Dun-DUN!
This is torturous.
I thought that the Porgs were kind of cute, but hey, I laugh at the Minions, so what I know?
Is it that hard to just slap it on a disc and sell it? Why all this crap, I would gladly pay for some over priced collectors limited deluxe edition…
I just want to watch Star Wars…
Most of us have been asking that question for well over a decade now.
More like 20 years.

Seeing that news about the Disney-Fox deal is supposed to be revealed today when TLJ also releases, I’m thinking (and fervently hoping) this bodes well for 4K OUT prospects. It’s to much of a coincidence for it to not mean something significant for SW.

Not according to Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter 😦.
He makes it seem like it really is George holding it back, which I never thought was the case. I wonder if it’s an actual legal stipulation or if it’s just LFL trying to honor his wishes.
You’d think after spending $60 billion, they really wouldn’t give a damn what Lucas thought.
I actually think I have like a $0.25 share someone bough for me as a birthday present when I was a kid 😛.

Huh. Pablo (in his latest tweets), is now overtly implying that it’s George who is preventing the OOT release. Wow.
He writes, “There’s one pretty noteworthy person who doesn’t want them released. Shouldn’t be too hard to research who that is.” (https://twitter.com/pablohidalgo/status/941382975853281281).
Yeah, he just Tweeted that to me. It’s sounds like the English translation. Is that General Frevious and I are right and we’re just fucked.
Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter, just now:
[Pablo said:]
Good morning! What’s kept the original theatrical editions off of home video is the same thing that’s always been doing that. It’s not a studio thing. And for what it’s worth(asterisk), I’d love to have 'em.
(asterisk)it is worth nothing
Who is this person ?
