I have no idea idea if this is an appropriate place to put this, but if anyone on the forum would be willing to do me a solid by burning me some up-to-date Despecialized Blu-Ray discs, I’d full remimburse him via PayPal for the cost of discs, inserts, etc. PM me. Anyhow, I’m probably going to hit the rack soon. Either way, night, my friends. I’d post a GIF of Bub saluting from Day of the Dead, but I’m on an iPhone.

I didn’t know where to put this so I’m leaving it here. I’m so done with the recent behaviours that have been exhibited on this forum. I joined this community when I had just turned 15 and this whole time I’ve tried to blend in to a community made up of (and run by) predominantly adults but it appears to me that so many frequent users of the forum that have been around for many years are starting to behave in ridiculous and immature ways that lower my level of respect for the entire community as a whole. If I were a moderator of this site, I’d be so torn on whether or not to ban certain members permanently based on their recent posts regardless of their status on this forum. I stopped posting on here for pretty much an entire year when TFA came out and a bunch of super young kids, trolls, and random goofs joined and started fucking shit up on every thread by starting shit and creating the sock epidemic which was painful to sit through, eventually essential members such as adywan decided to become much less active and/or take breaks from this place because of how stupid this place became. I came back recently right after seeing TLJ and this time it’s so much worse, not many new members have come to cause a problem (yet) but instead the content of the film has divided so many of us and caused many immaturely resolved arguments along with personal attacks, this behaviour is some fucking outrageous outcome of a star wars movie. I, myself, am split on many aspects of the film but why on earth are people doing things to get banned or to harm each other over it? This is ridiculous, I used to love this site and I know I haven’t interacted with many of you for a long time but I’m genuinely ashamed to be on this site right now. Ugh.

Just stop reading the TLJ review thread and you’ll be fine.

Hearing all this is why I frankly haven’t even wanted to open said thread.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

So I’ve had some better days, but it’s still hard and I’m so tired of constantly fighting my own thoughts. Yesterday was Christmas, today was a rare pretty good day at work, yet I still feel so miserable. I’ve been neglecting my therapy because of the chaos of the holiday season, and need to get back to it, but I’m simply not putting in the work there either. That’s not my therapist’s fault; that’s my own fault. And as much as I kick and scream, at the end of the day, that’s down to me. And I simply am not putting in the effort necessary no matter how much I claim I want to feel better. I need to find some kind of mental kick in the ass for myself, or just get my head out of my own arse.

EDIT: With the compulsions spiking, I just ventured into really nasty parts of the anti-religion stuff like Eucharist desecration, blasphemy challenges, etc. I vote every time to uphold the rights of people to do this and will continue to do so. It’s important and vital that these people be allowed to express these views, and they have to be able to offend me for free speech to be able to work. But man, I have just seen some serious human ugliness, and I feel mildly angry, rather unclean, and even a little sick.

While we need to do a better job at directing new members towards important information (see here for my suggestion), there will still be the problem of people unwilling/unable to burn the blu-rays and create custom sets. For those people, buying these things may be the only way they get their hands on them. And that’s a big problem.

Any solution not involving money would be quite a hassle, and the best thing I can think of is a system wherein the party requesting the blu-ray would be required to purchase their own blank blu-ray discs and send them in a package containing their copy of the relevant 2011 Blu-ray discs (as proof of purchase) and enough postage for sending it all back.

A dilemma indeed, but for most I believe easy access to the digital copy (mkv, mp4, etc.) would be good enough for most people, but the people who want a proper custom box set is the tricky part.

Like me!

When I mentioned wanting the OUT over at the Steve Hoffman forums, I got hit with a PM not a few mintutes later advertising the company in the OP.

Finally sprang for a Filmstruck account and have been taking full advantage. This weekend I’ve watched

Throne of Blood - 1957, dir. Akira Kurosawa
Viridiana - 1961, dir. Luis Buñuel
Rome: Open City - 1945, dir. Roberto Rosellini
Rodan - 1956, dir. Ishiro Honda
Laura - 1944, dir. Otto Preminger

Might fire up some more Kurosawa this afternoon, TLJ really put me in the mood for that stuff.

Kurosawa was a genius and as everyone here knows, a big influence on Lucas. Throne of Blood is pretty good; visually gorgeous. Harold Bloom says it’s one of his favorite Shakespeare films, which is saying something. I got to see a 35mm presentation of Seven Samurai a few years ago; really a privilege. As far as Kurosawa Shakespeare movies go, I do actually prefer Ran to Throne of Blood though. Throne of Blood is powerful, but Ran is really one for the ages, and I don’t know if anyone has ever topped that battle scene.
