Ranking the Batman films

The first sentence in his paragraph isn’t some grand spoiler that’ll no doubt ruin it for someone.

For some it would. Stop projecting.

EDIT:

If you’re so OCD about reading everything on the page before you scroll past a paragraph that clearly says SPOILERZ in front of it, that’s the readers problem. No matter how many dots are put between, the reader still has to choose to either scroll past or read the paragraph.

Since the SPOILERZ and the spoiler are so close together there’s a chance that someone’s eye will fixate on the actual spoiler before the spoiler warning. It happens dude. At least with the dots they have a chance to steer clear.

Bunny Spoiler method is dumb.

I would definitely prefer a proper spoiler hiding tool. I like the new design of the website but looks are no substitution for functionality

Say what you will about the DCU films so far but Ben Affleck is Batman.

Meh.

Meh.

Absolutely, he’s probably the best Batman we’ve seen in that regard, he’s very much like the comic books.

And I remember a time in which I thought Ben would look horrible as Batman.

One complaint I have with this suit is the ears, I think they’re too short, but I understand they were emulating the Dark Knight Returns costume and that’s how it looks.

Yeah but that doesn’t mean they can’t change it. Speaking of changes the cowl looks a lot better in JL than it did in BvS.

I absolutely love this Batman’s fighting style, too. It’s the perfect mix of brute force and agility, it’s like they took the Arkham games and put them on the big screen.

Aside from the fact he kills people you are very right. I hope they have a redemption arc for him in either JL or the solo Batman flick.

Either way, I may have misquoted you, but I didn’t misrepresent you.

Yes, I didn’t change the essence of what you were saying. For example, if you said, “I’m supporting Donald Trump” and then I said that you said, “I’m a Trump supporter”, that isn’t misrepresenting your position at all, even though the quote was slightly off.

They will always have a special place in my heart due to the obsession I had with them when I was growing up but a lot of people don’t feel the same way. Now when it comes to Halloween I don’t even see it as a Horror Film I just see it as a good film period. To me it transcends the limitations that so many other films in the genre are known for and stands up regardless of genre.

I don’t think you really understand what I’m arguing about. I even said that before I posted this that I thought certain movies like Child’s Play, Friday The 13th etc. were fun which means I think they’re well made horror movies but not well made movies in general. As stated above I think Halloween is a good movie in general.

He looks more like the comic book Batman than anyone who has come before him. His suit is definitely better than Bale’s Batsuit and slightly better than Keaton’s. Also what does that scene have to do with him as Batman? I can understand how you would see storytelling in the DCU as being tainted but I don’t understand how that effects his portrayal. Seems like a copout to me.

I have no problem with him taking inspiration from other films like Lucas did (with the exception of Dam Busters which he completely stole from) but it’s how he implements the inspiration that is cause for concern. Also I’m curious, what makes you think Episode IX couldn’t be even better than VIII?

Just an intution. I have seen Looper and people I trust praised Rian’s 3 episodes job on Breaking Bad (still have not watched this tvseries).

Then you and I are of the same mindset in regards to this topic. As someone who has watched Breaking Bad in it’s entirety 4 times Rian has gained my trust as Ozymandias is probably the best Episode in Television history.

And I’ve seen Jurassic World, which is a total mess. Usually, good cineasts make good movies, and bad filmmakers/yesmen make bad ones.

If it’s any consultation Rian is writing Episode IX too so there’s little Colin can do to mess it up. At least story wise.

Haven’t seen Dam Busters, put it right away on my “to watch” list.

Well, if you want to take the quick and easy path here’s a video detailing the similarities.

EDIT:

Also most pro TFA people know it rehashed things from the OT but there are a small few who think it’s completely original. Then there are some of the anti TFA lot who think it’s a step away from being a full on remake. I don’t understand either stance.

I guess I didn’t consider the idea that an atheist kid would have die hard Christian parents that would send them to a Church based summer camp that a lot of Christian kids don’t even go to. Sorry.

I don’t think the scenario is completely implausible, I just didn’t think about it because it’s not something I would expect to occur very often.

I’m sure there are some wackos that would do something even more drastic. I’m glad even something like that is a rarity.

Another note on horror movies- MOST of them ARE terrible films.
I feel fully qualified to call myself a horror aficionado. I love everything from no-budget scrappers to big-budget spectaculars, and I can tell you than most horror flicks are cynical productions made on the cheap for a quick return with no redeeming value if you aren’t an investor. I’ve had to trudge through WEEKS worth of total crap to find just one interesting flick, much less a truly well made piece of art. But there are plenty of filmmakers that have gave the genre masterwork pieces of cinema. A list of what I’d call truly well made horror films would take up pages.
But, also, art is subjective. One mans trash is another mans garbage.

Well to be honest most everything is terrible or at least meh but in retrospect I probably should have said “Slasher films” instead of “Horror”.

I haven’t seen many horror films, but the ones that I have seen have been pretty good to great. Here is a list of what the IMDb says are horror films I’ve seen and what I give them out of ten:

The Evil Dead (1981) - 8/10

Evil Dead II (1987) - 9/10

Evil Dead got a 7.6/10 and Evil Dead II got a 7.8/10. Still good scores. Also I always thought these were action/horror films but okay.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - 7/10

This actually got a 7.5/10.

The Shining (1980) - 9/10

8.4/10

I’m going to watch this one this weekend as well. I don’t even remember it to be honest.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012) - 8/10

This got a 7.0/10 on imdb. Still a good score though

Drag Me to Hell (2009) - 8/10

Actually it got a 6.6/10

Evil Dead (2013) - 6/10

6.5/10

Alien (1979) - 9/10

Sci-fi/Horror = not a true horror movie. Also it got a 8.5

Where did you get these scores from? lol

I went to my ratings, then filtered them down to what IMDb considers to be “horror” films. The ratings I specified are what I give them, not the general consensus.

Gotcha. That threw me for a loop.

I suppose this also confirms that Hansi gets off to anime and gay furry porn.
Which is actually pretty sad.

I don’t remember him posting furry stuff but I do recall him post quasi CP which is sadder than furry porn and regular hentai combined. The ultimate form of depravity.
