Sci-fi/Horror = not a true horror movie.

I hate that sort of boxing in. Besides, Alien is much more Texas Chainsaw than Star Trek. Ridley calls it a horror film as do the writers and producers and cast.
Why isn’t a horror film set in space/the future a “true horror film”?

To me it seems like a Sci-Fi film with horror elements. Though I admit that could due to the threat being an alien rather than a crazed killer. I think we can all agree that Aliens doesn’t have a lick of horror in it.

I haven’t seen many horror films, but the ones that I have seen have been pretty good to great. Here is a list of what the IMDb says are horror films I’ve seen and what I give them out of ten:

The Evil Dead (1981) - 8/10

Evil Dead II (1987) - 9/10

Evil Dead got a 7.6/10 and Evil Dead II got a 7.8/10. Still good scores. Also I always thought these were action/horror films but okay.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - 7/10

This actually got a 7.5/10.

The Shining (1980) - 9/10

8.4/10

I’m going to watch this one this weekend as well. I don’t even remember it to be honest.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012) - 8/10

This got a 7.0/10 on imdb. Still a good score though

Drag Me to Hell (2009) - 8/10

Actually it got a 6.6/10

Evil Dead (2013) - 6/10

6.5/10

Alien (1979) - 9/10

Sci-fi/Horror = not a true horror movie. Also it got a 8.5

Where did you get these scores from? lol

REC?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REC_(film)

He only has room on his horror shelf for Child’s Play. No room for good movies.
And, again, saying there’s only one good horror movie since 1896 is stupid. And totally false.

it's ok to feel mad

FTFY

How come my original photo disappeared in my post but didn’t disappear in your reply? lol

“Halloween is the only well-made horror movie.”
“Halloween is the only horror film that is actually a well made film.”

Gosh, those are completely different!

Perhaps you should explain further.

Gladly. Even though it appeals to a niche audience a majority of people see horror movies as poorly made films. Do me a favor and look up the scores for the following

Halloween - Halloween 2

Friday The 13th - Friday The 13th Part 4

Child’s Play - Child’s Play 3

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 and 2003 remake)

Etc. and you’ll see people don’t really see many of these movies as being even good. They will always have a special place in my heart due to the obsession I had with them when I was growing up but a lot of people don’t feel the same way. Now when it comes to Halloween I don’t even see it as a Horror Film I just see it as a good film period. To me it transcends the limitations that so many other films in the genre are known for and stands up regardless of genre.

EDIT:

The exorcist isn’t a well made film?

I have’t seen that one in a long time. Let me get back to you on that one because it seems a trip down memory lane is in order.

Nice rebuttal

What point is there in rebutting a statement like, “Halloween is the only well-made horror movie”? It shouldn’t even be dignified with a response.

Except I didn’t say that. Can you please stop misquoting me?

I thought A Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty well made.

For a horror movie but I haven’t seen it since I was like 13 so I could come out feeling differently if I watched it now

How the fuck would you know? Have you read the book or have you partook in any EU material? If so then you can hardly have an opinion of it.

Maybe I haven’t, but I did once see a guy take a dump in a pile of trash bags on the corner of Seaman and Cumming, so I think I pretty much got the idea.

I could easily generalize the Star Wars films based on that “analysis” alone due to the existence of the PT.

…novels like Darth Plagueis makes Midichlorians a fascinating concept and made the politics and Anakin being Space Jesus tolerable.

Oh, I doubt that very much.

I once thought as you do…

Before your mind was twisted and tainted by satanic EU dreck, I suppose?

How the fuck would you know? Have you read the book or have you partook in any EU material? If so then you can hardly have an opinion of it.

Maybe, but it would be easier to just reclassify the prequels as Legends.

LMAO. As someone else here has said the best PT is in your imagination though I enjoy Belated Media and BanditIncorperated’s (well at least most of it) version of the PT.
